Finally the second part !!! Thank you Daniel & Sonicware What I like about watching this is not only we learn about operating the device, but I can understand better how synths in general work because the way he explained everything there. 👌
This is so good, you’ve unlocked 90% of the Ambient Ø for me and I was just happy feckin’ around with the presets. You are an excellent communicator and educator. You have explained the power of an LFO better than anything I’ve seen / read in the last 18 months when I first got into synths. And as someone else: I now, finally, know what a wavetable is. Thank you
Thank *you*! That’s really nice to hear, especially since my goal was to explain these things the way I wish they’d been explained to me back when I was struggling to understand them and finding a lot of explanations inaccessible.
I just went into the Ambient 0 without knowing anything about the specifics of the wave table synthesis it utilizes. While I’ve had a lot of fun with it, this has definitely cleared up some of my confusions with the synthesis elements.
Great guide ! You managed to explain the abc of synthesis, make the specific workflow of the device definitely make sense, sound desin ideas, in a way which is acessible to newbies and grasp the attention of everyone. Congrats !
@@SonicCartography wait, you're the same guy! I keep running into you thanks to this synth haha I loved your other video on your channel, where you had the construction noise issue. Immediately felt related because I live in the same city : )
@@adrian5b Haha, yeah that's me! Glad to hear you liked the other video-and glad to hear someone else could relate to that! It is the noisiest city I've ever lived in...😵💫
OK. Just finished the whole thing. This was fantastic. It really, really helped to make the Ambient0 very clear and approachable. Tremendously helpful. Eagerly awaiting the next one. Thanks.
Awwww heck we’re so lucky to blessed with such beautiful sounding, deep, and versatile ambient machines-gonna be hard to shake my want for this thing. Really appreciate the walkthrough-up until now I’ve been a little confused as to how this beast works-now it all makes sense!
Having a liven warps before I thought the ambient would be a walk in the park to use but it’s extremely deep and a fair bit to learn to get the best out of it .This video )and vid1)completely nails it 🎉😂
Woooh, that is a long video with a lot of material. It shows how extensive and diverse the sonic possibilities of these structures are. That will take a while, as with any decent synth, to master them. But everything shown here makes sense, and gives enough starting material for self sound sculpting. What i especially like about this instrument is, that starting with some examples and using the standard loaded sounds, you still can make some very nice ambient tracks already. Thanks for another very instructive video!
Thank you! And haha, yes, I'm glad someone spotted it! I was just noodling on the keyboard for that segment, and I played something that sounded similar and then figured, hey, why not play the actual thing?
This is a really terrific, detailed overview of the Ambient⌀ -thank you!! The structure maps in the video and manual are still confusing and unclear for me (like what the filled-in versus empty oscillator signifies), but now, at least, I have the basic idea. Can't wait for the sequencer vid.
Thank you! The filled-in versus empty oscillators are meant to indicate which one is "ying" and which one is "yang", which in turn is meant to indicate they get harmonically modulated in opposite directions. So, just remember: opposite colors = opposite directions. For me, another thing that helps to understand the diagrams is to physically or mentally turn the ones with the balance on the side 90 degrees so the balance is on the bottom. Maybe it's just me, but my mind has a hard time processing them unless I do that!
@@SonicCartography, that was very helpful. Turning them on their side so the balance is on the bottom definitely helps with consistency and understanding. Thank you!
@@SONICWARE Thanks for getting back to me, I love nothing more than programming sounds and creating music (35 albums released since age 18) and my Ambient 0 arrives next week. Yes scale options yaay.
If there's a part 3 in this series, please give me some ideas of how to use the band and high pass filters. I haven't been able to do anything with the BP on this machine (well, nothing that sounds good or interesting).
Hi your support email doesnt seem to allow us to submit??? Hi I just got my Amb 0 and after a day of playing I have understood most of it. One option I think would be cool is to have an LFO assign to the FX Speed especially for the delay/ reverse delay, Chorus as that can give the user a glitch granular effect :-)
That was helpful. Some of the steps you show are unfortunately not explained, like the shortcuts to use different modes and its combinations to change the sounds. That's also the case in the manual. I needed a lot of time to understand how to save my adjustments on a new pattern. How to rename the empty pattern I didn't find so far. Maybe a tutorial for basic operations may be useful here. But I hope I will find the time and patience to master this great device.
Hey, a lot of the basic operations (like switching voice modes) are covered in the first video I made in this series, which was called Basic Operations! Because there is so much to cover and the videos are already long, I’m purposefully covering some things and not covering other things in each video, and each video presupposes you know the things from the previous video in the series (sorry if this wasn’t clear). The next video in the series (currently in production) will be about sequencing and will cover things like saving patterns.
@@SonicCartography thanks, but I don't understand how to save the changes from the operations in sound and levels etc. you explained in the first video of the basic operations. I spend a lot of time to adjust sounds etc. Now I want to use them and they are gone, because saving didn't work. It would help a lot to learn and praktice and have your efforts saved. Otherwise I always have to begin from scratch again, which is not really fun.
@@stephanscharf5524 I didn't cover that in the first video and wasn't planning on doing so until the third video, where we will take everything from the previous videos and create a pattern with the sequencer. But I can see why you'd want to know how to save before creating a pattern and so maybe we should have covered it sooner. Sorry! To save, you (1) press function + the save button simultaneously. You can then (2) turn the value knob to choose the memory location to which you want to save the pattern. If you don't want to save to a different location and just want to save to the current location (the one in which you created the pattern), you can ignore this step, because the save location is set to the current one by default. Then you (3) press "ok", and the screen will say "done" to indicate it's done saving. The thing to be careful about is that you must hold down the function button in step 1. If you don't hold down the function button, pressing pattern and then "ok" will reset the pattern to its last save state (or the default state if you haven't saved anything yet) and thus erase some or all of your work. I did this accidentally a number of times when I first got the synth.
Thank you for your suggestions! If you want to save a pattern palette with modified sounds to an empty pattern (Save As): 1) Press “func + save” buttons. 2) Select an empty pattern as the save destination. 3)Press “OK” button. If you have changed the name of the pattern palette: 1) Press “func + PTN” multiple times to select “PT.RN (Pattern Rename)”. 2) Use VALUE knob to select the Pattern Palette for renaming, and press “OK”. 3) Use “” buttons to move the cursor left and right, and turn VALUE knob to select characters.
There should always be two versions of a tutorial, one for beginners that wouldn't even know what a synth does (like this here) and a video for those that only want a quick information about stuff (like me). I mean, come on! - You explained what a sawtooth is and what a reverb does? really? Anyway, I gave a like because in the end I got to my infos.
I wish the dual osc engines would have a spread option …slightly pad each oscillator to left/right channel ..oh no way the filter is mono, but still one osc could run without filter…
Much better than sleepy Lody vids.. …it’s written on his forehead (Lody) that he does not want to do the tutorials…also his example sequences turn me off, I wish he learned from Cuckoo how to showcase a product with love🎉
Lody's videos are all great. They're not "showcases." They're tutorials. HUGe difference. Cuckoo is typically showcasing/demoing products. That's not the same thing as either reviewing them or providing tutorials about them. adverts/Reviews/Tutorials/Showcases are all different things. When it comes to videos for Sonicware products, i believe the more the merrier. I'm just glad there's people out there explaining these devices in english because Sonicware "manuals" are notoriously awful.
