How do you find navigating with the enc3? If you find a spot you like underwater can you get the GPS coordinates from the enc3 so you can anchor there next time? Are you able to attach extra gear like speargun and cray snare onto the scooter? Thanks in advance, im thinking of buying the seacraft GO and Enc3
Hi! To be completely honest with you: I find it to be very hit or miss, unfortunately. I'm careful to calibrate it properly before each use but even with a buddy doing the same thing, our results are never 100% the same. Sometimes I'm 20 degrees off, and sometimes 80 or more. When it does work accurately, it is amazing! And yes, there is a feature to save locations, which you can then overlay onto Google Maps; however it relies on you selecting a very precise starting point. I think the Seacraft GO would be an amazing scooter have, and if it weren't for production delays I'd probably have one :). On a similar note, Seacraft has released a new version of the ENC that has a buoy that can float up to acquire a fresh signal. That is key when decompression ceilings prevent surfacing. Cheers, and let me know what you go with!
@@BrentDives thanks Brent. I was wondering if the dead reckoning method would be accurate enough. Has it been inaccurate enough to not find your exit point? I'm thinking to also include a pinger on the boat to accurately find the boat and just use the ENC to get me back into the area
@@aaronkramer1970 No problem! I think dead reckoning would be really hard to do outside of electronic assistance. The current and drift are probably what mess the ENC up. I always keep an analog compass with me. The ENC can be as bad as getting North and South almost backwards...but not until about an hour into the dive, forcing me to surface to verify shore vs ocean. I wish so bad I could recommend it! However, with all that said, there have been a few updates to the firmware since I last used it, so these issues "could" be reduced. FWIW getting lost in the ocean with a substantial deco ceiling is one of my bigger fears.

@@BrentDives Do you plan on getting certified for cave dpv in the future? How do you like that dpv?
I’d like to but I’m not sure yet. Might keep getting experience for a while. I absolutely love that scooter! It’s my favorite piece of gear.
