Looking at Akki and Tiger, I just do not get the feel of going to theater. They do not have star power. Period. As for Maidan, it gives us a cheap Chak de India feel . It could be good, but I will not go to a theater and spend time and money on that. Unless you can create mass level curiosity amongst a big enough grp of ppl , there is no way erven good movies will work. And why are Producers still paying Akki crores ... come-on.. he is not worth it.. and if you still consider him a star , give him 4-5 cr and rest as a percentage of profits... he needs to earn his money like a bonus by performing well

I have to say from last 3 years I have visited theater for 3 times. Average one per year. I don't feel like watching Bollywood movies. I don't feel like even watching them in OTT. People dont want to see movies in free time. There is too much content from all side and screen time are something people wanna get rid of.

Major problem is the budget. Why 350 and 250 crores??? Unless it is a science fiction project or loaded with a lot of VFX, keep the budget as low as possible. Visuals don't matter much. The storyline and performances are more important today. One of the reasons why Shaitaan worked at the box office.

You can not blame people. Content wise films are very weak. Creativity is very low. OTT, IPL, Tourism, has some impect on the box office but the real reason are two coastlines (for middle-class which forms large section of film viewers) and films however big stars are in has no potential to bring people into the theatre.
