8 episodes a year and three to four Christmas specials? That's like Matt Smith regenerating in Angels take Manhattan or Patrick Troughton(yes it was half the length) leaving after Evil of the Daleks!
Understandable to hat viewpoint. Don't put them out to hear your opinions. Makes sense, enjoy them or don't bit leave out of he comments. I understand that. Well said' Ian.
Great interview. I wildly disagree with Ian on some things but 100% agree on the current state of things. The problem is that the kinds of radical thought that used to be left on the university campus once graduates entered real life, is now let loose and running wild in broader society, which is the tail wagging the dog and is completely inappropriate. And those who have become indoctrinated and radicalised won't ever let their ideology go, unless they come smack up against a hard wall.
I totally agree with Ian and i share his point of view "Space Babies" is not only the worst episode ever made in the entirety of the show's history but it's also an absolute "embarrassment" it's turned the show into an absolute joke if i was to introduce someone who has never seen "Dr. Who" it would definately not be that episode I'd show to anyone I'm that embarrassed about it it's an episode made for 5 year olds me and my family have never cringed an episode until "Space Babies" we couldn't wait for the episode to finish it was that bad however we did enjoy "The Devil's Chord" except for the musical at the end which threw me off. I don't know what persuaded RTD to write an episode like that he's better than that this is not the same man he was in 2005 something has definately changed in him but I also think he's a tired 60 year old man who can't come up with anything new and wants to do the same thing he's done before but to aim it at a younger audience and not to older fans like us because he wants to avoid writing new stuff because he has no new ideas and wants to rewrite other people's creations rather than doing his own thing like the Davros thing and the sonic screwdriver and the CGI dog and now ive recently heard the Black Guardian was getting renamed called "The Guardian of Chaos" or something like the world's gone mad. So I get where Ian's coming from and I understand the passion even though i still hold onto hope for the original missing episodes to return it's great to see alot of effort being made to reconstruct these episodes as close to the original as possible I would much rather watch those than the animations we been recently getting which I don't think there's been a good one since "The Invasion" from cosgrove hall which I thought they did an amazing job. I also agree JMS from "Babylon 5" would had been the perfect choice for the next showrunner unfortunately the BBC won't hire him because he's american but I think he would do a 10 times better job that what RTD is giving us at the moment.
@@type40doctorwho Well I watched the LC telesnap version and his shorts on that area were covered partially by his tunic. Yes the shorts were quite tight at the back but there was not the exagerated bulge that Mr Levine is insisting on because of his "attentions" to Mike Crazes body.
i missed his adventures in dr who unfortunatly but i watched him in the war machines, and the tenth planet, and underwater menace, and the moon base, dvds, though he was a good actor and quite an heroic guy too ! he never shyed away from a challenge for sure! a great shame we couldnt see more of his character developing really, in the other missing stories that he starred in like the smugglers, highlanders, power of the daleks, and macra terror. My earliest memory of watching dr who was seeing The seeds of death i was only 6, at the time, but that story really drawed me in, really gripped me, as a tv viewer, with those ice warriors roaming the base, scary stuff, i found it very atmospheric and full of suspense too, with good sound track , its an underated story i think, its pretty good to be fare, i think the wheel in space is another underated story, the sound track by tristram cary, is brilliant it matches that story perfectly, i felt that the austrailian guy dudley simpsons incidental sound track, to alot of these 60s episodes, really made them feel atmospheric, and suspenseful stories, which helped to make them the great classic stories that they are the macra terror is a suspenseful story too with a great sound track, bens a real hero in that one trying to fight off the macra with a piece of wood .
Although the idea sounds good, but the problem is theyd never look like the origonal episodes, though if they did that, because the new actors starring in them wouldnt look the same, as the ones, who was in the episodes, origonally screened on tv, , and it would be very expensive employing actors, actresses, directors etc to do that really, i think ians way, the way his done them using modern ai technology with telesnaps, is the very best that were ever going to get to be fare, as his doing them really faithfull, and accurate, to the origonal episodes, that was shown on tv in the 60s, his the best person to do them as he saw them on their origonal transmission, plus he has a great memory he remembers them all. And he has the notes too of the episodes, as he wrote them all down.
@Barnabybright No I disagree totally against that idea the recast and the remakes it only works with "Mission to the Unknown" because the main cast didn't feature in it. We have the original audios you can do anything with them remakes never be as accurate as the original including the cast.
@@type40doctorwho Yes, and Ian's work should be applauded. There can be two approaches here: the academic preservation of the original materials (as being done by Ian) and a reinvigorated approach to the first 6 years of the show that makes them current and vital and living part of the continuing history of the show. That can be done by recasting everyone and doing something different but that fits with continuity.
Go Ian! Love this work! Keep going!
We must do one with you and Ian too, in time.
"Doctor In Distress! Let's all answer his SOS." 🕺😅
Bring him back now - we won't take less!!!!

His point is perfectly fair, I feel. Very relatable.

Well, the world would be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything eh?

An insult to the memory of Michael Craze (37minutes).
No insult was intended, I'm certain Ian made more than clear.

The guy talking to ian sounds like he's from West Midlands. That's where I'm from.
I was only 2 at the time, but remember Ben as being pretty awesome!
Never knew Ben had this effect on people! haha

The best solution is to recast and remake every Doctor Who episode from 1963 to 66.
Well, there are several people who do feel that way. And I do understand. But Ian's way the original performances are preserved to the greater extent.
