I'm a plumber and the technician is doing his job properly. If he's compensating you per foot, your getting getting a big break! Listen to the plumber.
If they are using Roto Rooter they are DEFINITELY not getting a break. The ONLY break you can expect from Roto Rooter is if they use Vaseline before "giving you the bill"
I've been a drain cleaner for over 12 years, one of the first things my boss taught me was if the customer is an asshole and trying to tell you how to do your job, "politely" ask them - why, if they know better than us then why are we here? Usually shuts them up...
there are on rare occasions , customers who are unsatisfiable. there are a few things a good journeyman, or master can use to actually turn this into a descent situation.
You can't now ... You get written up. I've taken so many L's this year. I just started a new job with another company on the side. I'm with Roto Rooter for their life insurance until the covid 19 goes away... lol
Kudos to Roto Rooter! This is not a ripoff video. This is some petty ass that wants to nitpick every little detail. Hey, Mr attorney man, leave this to the professionals! This coming from Green Hills Plumbing (California) who has well over 30 years experience!
When I worked for roto rooter and had quite a few customers complain. You come down on the price . After your all done with the job they whip out a $75 coupon. Amazing. After I got some experience and they start trying to negotiate like they're at a flea market I'll take the "no rev" and bounce. After 18 yrs I had enough and bounced for good and never looked back. The only place I ever worked making less money than when I started. Serious. Pay cut after pay cut, less and less money for referrals. I should have left after 6 years when they cut my pay the 1st time. Used to be a good paying job. Now you have to really RIP people off. I can't do that to people
haha now it's 100% times worst. Man I made the biggest mistake of my life. The managers just keep saying take whatever they offer. I just spent 1 hour getting to the customers house they want to pay 100 dollars for some repair for something I don't have in my truck( They don't stock trucks anymore). I have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest home depot come back that is approximately 1-2 hours of my gas/my van
@@alejandropreciado1814 you'll do just fine in NYC don't worry about it man don't listen to the original comment. These days everyone knows the price of things are higher and when it comes to a blocked pipe they NEED it done asap. The Generation of handyman are all retired and not wanting to roll their sleeves up anymore. Now the homeowners are millennial men who don't even know how to operate a washing machine. Jobs like these are gonna be in high demand for many years to come.
I've had issues with roto. Had them unclog my main line, there were roots in it and it was unclothed, then 1 day later magically clogged again. 1st tech said 3 month warranty if it was roots, 2nd tech said no warranty because too many roots. It's not that I'm telling you how to do your job, but if you can't be strait with me I assume you are trying to fuck me because that's how contractors work. A good amount of them are lazy/crooked.
Shooting the liner is an expensive job and I can understand the misunderstanding the customer had from the techs. He heard x amount of feet and doesn’t understand the process and material it takes to align that liner in the existing sewer. I see it all the time. Best to just stay professional and let your managers deal with it.
I worked for a private company back in Vancouver and it was a fixed rate. Distance didn't matter, why would I charge you the cost of distance if it cost me nothing in materials? We charged for the rental of the tool and labor.
My favorite are the people that call you for a single problem but once you make the bill and take it to them and they magically remember they have other problems. "While your here" they want you to remodel the house and if you ask for the bill back so you can adjust it to fix the other stuff and they don't want that, they want free labor. The guy in the video was an idiot and he wanted done for free and will bitch about everything but the pluber should have reminder him he was a lawyer not a plumber and to look at the hole and the tools used that cost money as well.
first off those cameras are not exact. I have ever a Sparta cam one of the best on the market and I have unraveled the camera and it's anywhere from 4 to 6 ft off
I got no dog in this fight, I'm just learning how to unclog my drain on yt. I really thought the guy filming was gonna be annoying, but technically right. But he ends up being wrong!! I'm dying over here. This guy is a tool!🤣😂🤣😂
Roto Rooter is one huge scam! I am a plumbing contractor and I see it all the time. The problem is most homeowners don't know anything about plumbing, therefore a tech working on commission feel they are entitled to scam you! More dough in their pocket.
Super Dave Plumbing contractor? What a joke. You guys can't replace a faucet without getting frustrated because it's not as easy as new construction lol. Btw most service plumbing/sewer cleaning companies pay their techs commission. Most of the roto rooters are a franchise and experience varies for every city/franchise. No need to "sell" something they don't need. Simply give them a price to fix THEIR problem.
erick rodriguiez Whoa there, big boy! Are you a contractor? What company do you own? How many years experience do you have? I have been self employed for 49 years. I do industrial, commercial, residential, and service work. What the f&@k have you done, including experience? I stand by my comment, I've seen it all! Most big companies are rip off artists!!!
Super Dave Oh course buddy. Because we are ur competition and when they need service done right, in the weekend, in the middle of the night, they call us. Cuz u won't pick up ur phone. Btw our license is the one that is clean. Nothing u can report.
my Bathroom flooded and I hired Rotor Rooter. Tech came and said the sewer line was clogged. Cost was $369. I said okay. He snaked it and it worked for two days. My bathroom flooded again. Called them back. The new Tech said it would cost me $450. I stated that the work was done two days ago and that the warranty was 30 days. The Tech stated that Rotor Rooter does not guarantee any work. I pointed out that the invoice stated that there’re was a 30 guarantee. On the back of the form in their legal template it also states this. His answer was “I don’t care what it says on the form, Rotor Rooter doesn’t guarantee it’s work. He left. I called customer service and it was a joke. Hung up on 5 times. Do yourself a favor, don’t hire this company. They will rip you off and they are pretty blatant about it.
We just had a Roto Rooter nightmare. It makes sense that the Plumbers are paid commission. Our guy buried the line before the permit could be issued, and then threatened to put a lien on our house since we didn't want to pay him the full amount owed until the inspection was complete. NEVER AGAIN.
I luv how calm your husband is throughout this video/interaction ! I rarely can do that, I fly off and make it worse at first hint of injustice or shady dealings :( How crazy to attempt this with an Attorney - You will prevail ! You will not go quietly into the night !>>>>>
Paul Belt Yeah, this isn't our issue, I found it on UA-cam when I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on with this company. Marty and I dealt with our local Roto Rooter these past two weeks, and it was a terrible experience. Just passing along that there are too many other reputable companies out there to choose them to do your plumbing!
Pretty normal behavior. Where I'm at, the inspectors won't even come out, they will just tell us to bury it about 3/4 of the time. The other 1/4 of the time they will show up, see the line already buried (except at the ends) and they will pass it. Why? Because we warranty our work. If the line worked, there was nothing else broken, and the work was complete, why aren't you paying the plumber? Oh you just want to think they are scamming you. Yeah, roto rooter has bad employees sometimes, but most of them are just people with day jobs.
So you get special treatment over the rest of us who wait on inspectors? Most of your division doesn't know it's ass from it's thumb and has no business even breaking ground. Greedy bastards too.
If you are an attorney It would be in your best interest to sue! I am currently in school to get my plumbing contactors license. Roto-rooter is the biggest scam out there. The employees make commission. It could be $5500.00 for you and $7,000 for someone else on a job worth 2,000.They will make up all kinds of un-true statements to get money....Most of the employees at roto-rooter are not actually licensed plumbers. They work under the companies lead contractors license which is against the law !
@Shane, like anything and everything in life we will come across all to many up to know good. Including no good humps working in the plumbing industry.
Mistake number one toto rooter is known by every plumber in the industry as a joke . They over charge do not have the proper licensed to apprentice ratio they are a disgrace to us real plumbers. Not all but more than not.
They work off commission! Your price is based on how much money you appear to have and how much the technician needs to make that week! Roto-Rooter is the biggest Joke of a plumbing company! But I must say lawyers are far from fair or honest... A lot of time the outcome of a case is based on who owes who a favor in the courtroom! At least it did with the attorney I used!!!
Steven Lafontin I agree with you 100%. Roto-Rooter is nothing but a huge scam. I know because my first plumbing job was with them. All they do is push you to sell services that customers don't need and when you're on commission bases and only get 1-2 jobs a day you hope that the job you're get is something big. And if it's not? Then the tech will make one up.
Steven Lafontin you’re full of shit. You make an assumption. You get priced on the scale the company gives the employees which is an hourly rate + parts and a possible trip charge if they have to waste their time getting terrible people who assume they know everything but can’t do the job themselves like you the things they need to get the job done. Plus warranty the parts and labor. The man in the video is an asshole. Plain and simple he’s clearly condescending in his tone and wording and he’s trying to push the man because he’s not happy about having to pay for work from a company where a lot of people work very hard to provide for their families.
I'm a general contractor in the plumbing field and I am glad that this plumbing company was exposed first off when you do a Perma liner first step is to jet sewer line to properly diagnose line run sewer camera through line which this equipment if you know how to use it right it's at a 99% accuracy so that term that they were saying Slack I have never heard of this at least not on my job sites !!! companies and subcontractors like these should be exposed and out of business !!! what happened to honesty in customer service?
