- I show how to make schnitzel. I used pork tenderloin as the meat but various other meats can be used to make it, such as veal, mutton, chicken, beef, or turkey.

Whatever meat you are using it is prepared the same way. Many people associate Schnitzel with Wiener schnitzel. “Wiener schnitzel” is actually a geographically protected term in Germany and Austria and can only be made with veal. The only difference is German Schnitzel is made with pork instead of veal. Schnitzel is traditionally served with Spätzle and gravy, Pommes (fries), or Kartoffelsalat (German vinegar-based potato salad). Additionally, it’s usually served with a leafy green salad. It is pretty easy to make and only requires a few basic ingredients.
A schnitzel is a boneless meat, thinned with a meat tenderizer, coated with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs, and then fried. A popular food in many countries, it is made from veal, mutton, chicken, beef, turkey, or pork.
Ingredients: The amount of each will depend on how much you make.
- Meat (veal, mutton, chicken, beef, turkey, or pork)
- Egg
- Black pepper (goo.gl/VUnASW)
- Salt (goo.gl/bnTx94)

- Cooking oil
- Paprika

Music is so much better.
Hahaha, brilliant. Yes, the song sounds like the Ramones now.
Lol!
Omg it's true. Amazing what a tempo change can do.
NICE DUDE!
So true
Thank you for posting this video. This is pretty useful. And please don't pay any attention to the unkind comments posted by few unhappy and sad people.
No kidding.
So...it looks like I have been making schnitzel my whole life and I thought I was just making fried pork tenderloins.

Jesus. Lmao. I’ve been making “breaded boneless pork” for years, this exact way. I didn’t know it was Schnitzel. I do the same with beef liver except I soak it in milk for 6 hours in the fridge. GREAT video. Thank you!!!
Awesome, Just followed this recipe. I only had smoked paprika so hopefully it will still be just as tasty
Don' t use Paprika. Salt and pepper.
Have you ever thought about cutting the meat accros the grain so it just falls apart when you bite into it so it mekes it even more enjoyable to eat.
Over all a good receipe . But u dont use paprica on a german Schnitzel ! And in my opinion the Foil is useless. But Thats only my opinion . Im from Bavaria ..
lol you put whatever spices you like there are no rules lmao
Revo Lution of course. But then it isnt bavarian anymore ;)
RELUCTANT Schnitzel is from Austria
I didn’t see any foil in this video🤔
The origin of the Schnitzel is not really proven. Even if it comes from Austria, there may have been the Cotoletta from Milano before. Also meat had been covered and fried in bread crumbs before in many places and different cultures. To me it doesnt matter. Schnitzel is Schnitzel.
Hey guys, comment from Austria here, the place that stole the idea for Schnitzel from the Italians centuries ago. The way I do it, I don´t put plastic foil on top of it or below, i just put the meat on the cutting board and work the meat with the "teeth" of my meat mallet. That way you crush the fibers and muscles that connect the meat and make it real tender. Do one side thoroughly without crushing the meat up into pieces, turn around and do it again, turn around and see how it looks, probably do it again. That way, your meat can´t get stiff when you fry it. Works with pretty much any meat pretty much every time. (be extra careful with chicken as it´s really easily broken into pieces with a mallet)
Also, don´t use paprika when making a schnitzel. Hungarians might do that, but it´s not a wiener schnitzel if you do. (it´s only a proper wiener schnitzel if you use veil, but who gives a fuck, everyone around here uses pork for their schnitzel, so that´s just as proper for a genuine austrian style schnitzel)
For seasoning I actually just use salt, no pepper, nothing else. A schnitzel is really about the taste of the mate, the meat being tender as fuck and the crust being perfectly crunchy, not dry, not soggy. How to do that is pretty much down to experience with the heat of your oil and length of frying + the way you make your crust.
hope this helps and if anyone has any questions, go ahead, will answer them happily.
I really appreciate this lol
@Mick W probably because veal is more expensive and not available everywhere.
@Mick W that makes even more sense! still, even today you cant get veal everywhere.
Mom used to use Veal and then switched to tenderloin pork, but yes, also do not use plastic layers (likely because ancestors rarely had a bunch of plastic around kitchen, so learned it the basic way as it does seem to tenderize the fibers better).
I always need to make the basic potato salad that goes with it - boil russet (absorbs oil/vinegar well) or even red skin peeled potatoes, transfer cooked potatoes into a single layer in a serving glass rectangular pan (my preference) while hot and gently make slices with a knife without disturbing the potatoes too much as you want slices. Broken bits taste good too, but slices look nicer.
Very finely chop green onions and sprinkle over sliced potatoes, mix 2 parts oil (I still use something like vegetable or canola) and 1 part white vinegar and shake in a closed container (can quickly make more and add if you don't have enough) so it becomes whiteish and blended and pour over the sliced potatoes while they are still hot or warm (can make this mix while potatoes are cooking). Lastly sprinkle salt and I use freshly ground white pepper over top to taste. Can also add tiny crumpled bacon bits or not. Wait 5+ minutes for the vinegar/oil to be absorbed by potatoes. You have poured the right amount over if there is hardly any oil/vinegar left in the bottom of your serving dish. How something so simple can taste so good is amazing! Yummy warm or cold.
Learn history, you idiot!
safe to mute the annoying music- all text.
You want to know how to make schnitzel then get a german to teach you
Here in Indiana in the US, our official sandwich is the pork tenderloin sandwich which the same exact thing as wienerschnitzel but instead of serving it with lemon, we put it on a Kaiser roll bun with pickles and mustard. Gotta love german heritage!
nicely done but two things I do differently: use MORE oil. they have to swim in it ... and put some butter in the oil. (and no paprika)
This ridiculous sound called music by some, spoils the whole video.

Thank you for refreshing my dimming deutsch memories, I think I’ll make some this week!
one reason I don't like your video
MUSIC TO LOUD
Pretty good Schnitzel demo - thanks. May I suggest you invest in a decent knife for cutting anything - a medium cook’s knife is most versatile. May I also suggest that 2-3 minutes per side is way too long even with pork. With veal even less time.
Cheers.
Music was really irritating. Hated the lack of narration.
The music wasn’t great but the rest is solid
They are very thick slices for schnitzel
*In america you beat meat...*
*In Germany meat beat you.*
little sekret, mix the "Paprika" with the flour an use butterfat and let them "swim", so thats the crust has space to bubble.
no se como es que llegue aca esto son milanesas se comen mucho en Argentina
Why don't any vids like this start out with hand washing first. It's really gross watching people handle raw meat without ever seeing them wash their hands first. Ugh.
It’s better to use half oil and half butter before panfrying the Schnitzel. Gives it a richer flavor
That's not real schnitzel
Just the leave instructions on screen after the oil in the pan I had to go back and stop but the rest of the time it jumped too quickly. Love your blog
Holy sh*t, they f*cking kill Schnitzel dude!
needs to be much thinner
Rick Sewell why?
I love your concise style of presentation and showing all of the items needed to prepare the recipe. Thank you.
Can i used palm oil ?
In my region of the US, bars and restaurants call these "breaded pork tenderloins", though they are usually made with pork loin cutlets.
To jest polski schabowy. (:
This was originally done with veal scallopini in Milan. When the Austrian Kaiser visited he liked it so much he asked the court chef to make it for him.The chef used pork filet and the Wiener Schnitzel was born.Since then it has travelled around the world where it is called a Milanese.
I love schnitzel. Great video. Thanks. Potato salad, plus green salad, are my choice to accompany the meats.
brilliant recipe but only one thing to be picky about..... you forgot to add: wash down with a delicious cold Hefeweizen ;)
LeClaw prost
Xactly. Hefeweizen is the best side dish to go with a schnitzel.
Binding Bier, bitte.
I stopped the video at the breadcrumbs in a box.... Horrible......just watch a real Austrian cook the schnitzel
Perfect! Thank you
Salt Upgrade Required. Kosher, Sea, Himalayan whatever ( I can't believe I just spelled that right. No wiggle line or nothin'! ). Also peanut oil vs. veggie. Fry quick was the tip I took away. Everything else, I am proud to say, I was already doing. Wonderful cheap meat treat..
I've been enlightened. I've always cut my meat across the grain. Today when I make it here in Thailand I will cut with the grain. Thanks for the video.
I like HP sauce with it. But then I'm a Brit!
*NO MORE SPOONS!*
*USE YOUR HANDS!*
*SCHNITZEL ON A STICK!*
I make with mashed potatoes and brown gravy, served with a veggie. I also like Apple sauce on top of the veal. Traditional snitzel is usually mashed and gravy. I like green beans as a side myself. Good video, but some pieces were too big, easier cooking smaller pieces. That's just me!
How to fuck would put smoked paprika and pepper in his in schnitzel? Im raised in vienna.. And i lerndnit pretty much the ssme way, but just without paprika and pepper, apart from that is it pretty much on point! Aaaand i really like to make the breadcrums myselfe, because you sometimes have bigfer pieces and thats makes your schnitzel extra chrunchy :3 likeee
Schnitzel is delicious. The Bavarians serve it with a brown gravy and potato dumplings that are to die for. I've tried every way in the book to replicate those dumplings, but I just can't make them like the Germans can.
This is not Schnitzel?? Look up authentic “Wiener Schnitzel” and serve with classic garnish and potato salad to experience the real deal!! No paprika, no crappy store bought bread crumbs ( make your own) and use butter
Now make Kartoffelpuffer to go along with the beautiful Schnitzel. Mmm good!
kartoffelpuffer
Who am I to judge someone as long as the food at least tastes good. But I just think it’s very sad that hardly any of your audience will ever find out how good a real schnitzel could be. You did almost everything wrong. Nevertheless, have a nice day.
I love to eat but i don't want to be fat.I can eat 3000 calories, but i have to be very active, drink instant coffee,a drink with cayenne pepper, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar. Is there any other products cheap and preferably natural to boost metabolism?
The best Schnitzel is really thin veal meat wich is breaded and fried in butter...and it is never ever served with spätzle. Only with potato salad, green and cucumber salad, or possibly with fries. Some like to eat it with cranberries. ( jam ). This is the original wiener schnitzel. The pork schnitzel is made same way.
There is a variation called Jägerschitzel wich is served with mushroom sauce. This could possibly served with spätzle because of the sauce.
if you want to make your schnitzel healthier instead of frying it , wrap it with aluminum foil and put it in the oven or a toaster in 15-25 minutes it would be cooked crispy without the annoying oily texture.
Why did I google schnitzel? I don't know how I got here.
Is anybody here from Ginger pale who wondered what a Schnitzel was?

You can skip the plastic wrap. You were going to clean your meat mallet, cutting board, and your hands, anyway, weren't you?
A little late to the party here, but great video... reminded me of growning up.
Ive cooked tenderloin this way many times now, always a winner.
change your background music to polka
The text on the video is annoying af to follow while actually trying to make recipe with pork hands. It would benefit your viewers to in the least bit use robotic narration so that listening while working is an option. Byyyyye
*You found this looking up “What the Schnitzel”*
Actually I'm quite fond of beating my meat...... and google somehow seems to know??!!
Great video. Only issue is that the text moved too quickly to read. Please leave the text longer next time. :)
What the heck is an inch? I'm sure that an genuine German or Austrian schnitzel maker wouldn't know that either!!
Rada rada rada

*HOW TO MAKE CHOWDER*
my German friend once told me to be racist to him and i called him schnitzel
i then proceeded to eat him
If people knew where it originated from the video Will get taken down and people will dislike it :(
Sad reality
We call it EMPANIZADO. greetings from the US.
Why would I learn cooking from someone who cuts up meat with a paring knife?
I was born in Vienna, Austria where the Schnitzel originates from and live in Munich, Germany which is the 2nd Schnitzel capitol of the world.
In both cities paprika is not used and instead of veggie oil, clarified butter is used.
Other than that, perfect.
High five from a polyglot American living in downtown Munich, Germany.
What languages do you speak? I speak Arabic, English, German and Italian
Ich spreche nur Englisch, Deutsch, Unverständlich und etwas Spanisch.
Grüße aus München.
Great video. love the music too! Who is the band?
do you also have a video on speed reading?
James M lol right!
i read your comment in 5 sec... so, if you want to learn speed reading, i can teach you... for a few bucks!
That's called fried shake and bake pork chops
For breadcrumbs try using pulverized corn flakes, it's my favorite. I'm willing to bet using some honey frosted cereal as breading and glazing with a bourbon barbecue sauce would be great. I also smoke pot all the time, which cancels out my previous claims.
Man, you know what would really be amazing, cookie crumbs! Like grind up chips ahoy or whatever and do this, like totally!
I'm sure this recipe would be good with Eggplant too.
great with sauerkraut and spicy mustard😄
Oil is expensive af in my country but everything else is cheap. This might be a problem
Neil De Jesus What country is that. What kind of oil, and how much.
Doesn't matter if it's tonkatsu or schnitzel, both are delicious
*I'M A WEINER SCHNITZEL NOT AN ENGLISH FLOWER-*
You don't need to beat the meat at all. And here in Europe (except maybe for Britain) we do not use plastic foil extensively - just thinking of all plastic waste floating in the oceans. You do not put paprika on fried Schnitzels with breadcrumbs either. You only use it if you are preparing a "Paprikaschnitzel", but that's a different dish.
Magali Britain is one of the worst countries in the world for their plastic waste with food products. Go to a tesco or sainsburys and you’ll see bananas wrapped in styrofoam and plastic and peeled oranges in plastic containers. It’s disgraceful.... I hardly think you are in a position to be chastising this person.
@@alliwantisapony8023 I don't think magali (he/she/it) is from England. It's probably just a fucking german "know-it-all".
Do you drive down to the beach with your used plastic wrap and chuck it in the ocean? No? Well, neither does anybody else, stupid...
Don't be so easily sucked in by bullshit...
Pense que seria otra cosa, pero son muy parecidas a las milanesas
My German mum made this,I have used pork too,its very good.
schnitzel is my lifestyle
wait a minute. Is schnitzel just a steak with breadcrumbs .
No, but sadly thats what he is cooking...
Yes. Also known as breaded steak in other parts of the world.
Those parts where a Calzone is called Spring roll? @@mrshah2043
@@Astuga Who commits such culinary heresy?
It's pork... dumb shit.
It's a muther fucking breaded tenderloin
aactually good but no paprika plsss :)
the only problem is you are not even cutting the meat the right way
Never in my life have i seen so many mistakes in the first 40 seconds of a video
Now this is a RADA RADA MOMENT.
I like this video, thank to show and I will made soon.😂😂
Hi, what cut if meat did you use?
Also I dont usually coat the meat with flour just the egg then breadcrumbs.
How important is it to use the fliour ?
Can't remember the cut of meat. Flour is commonly used to coat schnitzel before frying to create a crispy, golden crust. However, some variations use alternatives like almond flour or just breadcrumbs so it doesn't really matter.
No more spoons use your hands

I made my own after having one at a supposed real German restaurant while eating there group after group of elderly German's came to eat and all of them left when they saw the prices. Mine was 15.95 I hadn't had anything that day so was very hungry. I was not impressed, and could see why almost 40 people total of all those who came over the full hour and a half. I don't rush eating ever. I made some today but no eggs. baked a little then fried in butter. I find the reading channels annoying between the music and pacing it's hard for a person of my intellect being able to keep up. Thank you.
They had 4 cutlet's already pounded for 4.45 for the set that's I think a little more reasonable.
i am using pork neck for schnitzel, no need to pound.
It turned out great!! Thanks for the recipe
Oh yea!!! ...my new Christmas food...WITH NOODLES!!!
Make it caraway butter noodles
Who ate my fucking schnitzel?
