Other knifemakers: Our blade is durable but still easy to sharpen, and comes in a variety of colors!
Cold Steel: The serrated edge is great for going through clothing and biting into flesh. It ... *stares off* ... it will do that.

I like most of these. The people that say quality has gone down don’t know what they are talking about. A $100 recon 1 makes a $400 Benchmade seem like junk. I own several of both. The benchmades all have blade play, uneven grinds, centering issues. Of all the cold steels I have there is not a flaw on any of them.
A lot of Cold Steel's I bought had uneven grinds including the Recon 1's that I have.
And Cold Steel weigh a ton and a quarter, have the carry profile of a dead rhino, and an absolutely non-existent aftermarket. Hard pass.
I bought a large luzon I liked the knife until the pocket clip broke and they won't replace the pocket clip so I have a knife I can't carry I'm very disappointed with Cold Steel 😢

I like BIG Knives and I cannot lie
I've been carrying a fully serrated voyager XL on an off for about 3 years now. I got it right around the time BLADE HQ did the road trip video from cold steel back to the shop and i met up with the guys for a pocket check. I gotta say, I was not a serration kinda guy for my edc however Cold Steel's serrations are so gosh dang sharp that i've been able to do most of my day to day cutting tasks with no problem. The serrations are so sharp and so fine that while it does rip through material it does it with a cleanliness that lesser serrations would normally just mangle. If you were ever conflicted about serrations i definitely recommend Cold Steel stuff and it'll change your mind

I absolutely love cold steel and I'd love one of those choppers! That being said, if it is indeed $500, I'd just as soon get a terava skrama. Or I saw condor has a machete coming out that goes with the terrasaur line for around $70 MSRP.
Liking the Mayhem, hopefully with a different color handle. Also the clip point Ti Lite. I don't have a Ti Lite yet but that may be my first

The redesigned blade on the kobun is a big win
It's not just about weight hanging. The tri ad lock doesn't develop play when used hard. There is a atlas lock test on UA-cam and it develops blade play after testing when the tri ad is still solid.
Can't beat the Tri ad.
Bought my first Cold Steel knives a couple weeks ago.. 4Max Elite, AD10, and AD15. I think the Engage will be my next.

The silky nata was the first time I ever saw one of those knife axe hybrids. Such a useful tool.
I love the look of the Mayhem, and can't wait to add a couple to the collection. That said...
The Atlas lock is a bummer. I love the idea of it. But what I've noticed with the Engage, it that it's super easy for it to fail on opening. If the meat of your fingers happens to be in the right (wrong?) spot, the blade will open but the lock won't hit.
Might not be a problem with something the size of the Mayhem? Time will tell. Even if it just ends up in my pack, I've got to get my hands on it.

Im sitting home, drinking my hot evenimg coffee next to a fireplace, and I just remembered how is it that Mayhem is NOT in my store, it should be ages ago. So I took my phone, searched for Cold Steel Mayhem and this video comes out first. And in it its said that it will come in store in 3rd or 4th quarter of the year.
Ok, previous one was just a prototype and we will have two steels to choose, thats nice.
But one thing is missing....still missing.
Guys, as owner of Cold Steel Espada xl, shiny mk1 version in aus8a steel, I gotta tell you..... Put that Demko's thumb plate on that Mayhem.
Its a big blade and it deserves to have that function. Without it, its a no-no. Especially in a self defense situation.
In nature with a group of people, owner can allways use both hands to open a blade normally, but in any case of emergency....that thumbplate helps a lot.
So put it on Mayhem, otherwise Spartan will be a better blade.
Also just had to say, PLEASE make a modernized AK bayonet! No one is doing this!

Also excited about the new designs, would love to see a counter point with that long blade in a shorter handle somehow. Or even some GIANT OTF knives with that Cold Steel lock strength.

The moment I saw the mayhem, i immediately thought "yes, yes!". Just something about large, beastly and intimidating looking knives always grabs my eyes and wallet. People complaining about the big sizes and looks clearly like puny pen knives and hate fun apparently. Hey i don't blame anyone who lives in a commie state or country but if they are legal where you live and you still complain about these, just tell me in another way that you work in a cubicle 9-5.
I like that Wharnie! The serrated edged Counter point is mine as soon as it's for sale and the Jimi Slash Chopper and the new 5MAX are on my shopping list too!!! I honestly don't know about the Mayhem, yet...

I love how they are embracing the new atlas lock. With innovation I think it will be as sturdy as the triad if not better and it’s certainly much better for edc. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.

Man....Cold Steel was always the working man/ knife guys brand..... Quality products that are not just made but TESTED to work above and beyond what its made for and all for a fair price!..... Now its a bunch of rich old guys sitting around a table wanting to make more money so they can sell the company again in a few years and make even more money..... I hope Mr Lin starts a new company that offers REAL knives at the right price!

The spear head used to be a shitty SOG knife that every review on youtube broke. They discontinued it a couple years ago, I think it was called the sog spirit. Cold steel and SOG both being owned by GSM, looks like they wanted to put that shitty “spear” out with cold steel’s logo on it this time.
SOG is re-releasing that one too. Hopefully they have been improved. There is a slight head shape difference between the two.
If Cold Steel is making it. It’s bound to be better than SOG’s version.
I still have the SOG version. Never really do anything with it other than screw around.
@@FriedPi-mc5yt They are basically the same company though. Both companies are owned by GSM. Cold steel knives are starting to show up at walmart’s and academy sports. Cold steel isn’t what it used to be. Consistently going down hill after the GSM takeover. GSM has done away with cold steel’s lifetime warranty

I wish Cold Steel would bring back Japanese steel in their blades. I'm still using my 4" Voyager with AUS8 Japanese steel and plastic pocket clip. Used it last week on a camping trip. Still holding up.

1:08 New EDC the Artisan Proponent was feeling a bit dainty.
I designed the most popular knife in the 21 century. After ejecting from Snowbird #1, 21 June 2001, the investigation team asked me if I had any ideas for a new rescue tool. I started, after the third bullet point they stopped me, pulled out their tape recorders (3), and asked if I could start over. The blade shouldn’t be more than 4’’ long, the blade should be black for Tach reasons, it should have a tanto tip for punching through an airframe, the first third should be serrated for cutting, it needs to be ‘’one handed opening’’, it should have a pachmyer insert in the handle for grip, the blade needs to be double locking for safety, a three screw metal clip for the arctic w/ 3 screws, it should have a 440 or better steel, it should have a lanyard hole no bigger than 3mm, you can incorporate a stitch ripper into the handle that can cut type 10 nylon, a glass piton on the end, the handle should be form fitting (insertion into the anus if capture is imminent during E&E. Three months after it went to tender it seemed like every company on the planet was making a version of my knife. Even Swiss Army put rubber inserts in the handle of their bigger knives. Most of your knives today are spawn from my design. You’re welcome. Acorn (Germany) won the contract and a sub of s&w bought them for the patents. The prototype was anus approved “but” I never explained why unlike the other fourteen features. Six of those never existed before mine.

Thanks for the video!I would have LOVED it if Cold Steel would have revamped their classic models(like Espada,Spartan and Recon models and other),added The Atlas locks to them and upgraded the steels to(a very good budget steel like Sandvik 14C28N and top tier steel like CPM Magnacut or other.I BELIEVE if Cold Steel would have done these changes to these models,they would have created a brilliant year and beyond for themselves and for the consumer too!Also a 4.5 inch Mayhem model(their new model shown) would also be great as a preference choice like The Cold Steel of old.
Nah. Atlas lock performs worse than the Triad lock, which is why a lot of cold steel fans dislike it immensely.
What's wrong with aus10a?
While I commend Cold steel for trying to innovate, the Atlas lock ain't where it's at! Stick with the TRI AD for now!!
