This is a story where i dont feel much sympathy for any parties involved. Hiroshi was a creeper, Runa was spoiled and psychopathic, and her parents were irresponsible enablers
I remain skeptical that this was just purely revenge. If that was all, why the need to make a snuff film out of it? She was clearly disturbed

I don't know enough to judge, even the authorities don't. But psychopathy, assuming she has the literal clinical mental disorder, means you literally cannot sympathize with another human being. She is still *technically* responsible because she can learn social norms as well as laws and through free will obey them. But I would put much more blame on her upbringing because she had no say in how she would turn out.

According to some persons- including some that allegedly live in and around the area where Hiroshi frequented, there's some things to consider (note that this is just what people have supposedly said, and I don't read Japanese so I'm getting it secondhand)
1- Hiroshi was not just 'known to a few establishment owners', he was quite well-known and most people hated his guts because of his antics towards women. He could clear out every woman in a bar just by showing up, so he was bad for business.
2- Runa wasn't a lesbian, she was just antisocial.
3- Runa's father was the one who actually targeted this guy, and she was in on it. They saw themselves as 'vigilantes' in a way.
This is just what I have heard, and I personally don't know one way or the other- just putting out there because it makes sense.

I don't know the actual story, but according to reports, her father doted on Luna, and from an early age he set out what she wanted to eat on the table and bought her anything she wanted. As a result, her father became obedient to her wishes. However, as Luna grew older, her father became troubled by her behavior. According to investigators, Luna has recently become extremely angry over trivial reasons such as not liking the placement of the furniture. As a result, her father started avoiding being at home.

There were times where I thought if they'd realize what they do if I end myself, if that'd make them consider their actions and makes them better people (of course I also thought 'that would teach them 😅'). But actually, it made me the person I am, I am more emapthic, I think more of my actions and how it could impact others before I act, I'd say it made me a better person. After the incident with the cat whose to say Runa wouldn't have eventually found another victim. Perhaps she inherited her father's genes as he seems to have mental issues too. I think this case reveals what the devastating consequences of systemic failures can be more than anything else.
    1. The bullying at her school not being stopped.
    2. Her parents not getting her the help she needed
    3. most devastatingly, a system which fails to tackle and prevent a culture of s£xual violence.
When nothing happens to people like that they will continue to offend without fear of retribution and eventually vigilantism becomes the only form of "justice" accessible to victims.
The odds of accidentally targeting a psychopath are slim but never zero.

2 might have also stemmed from the fact that there is a conflict of interest when you get your daughter help from colleagues that know you and who might be influenced by that relationship. There is also the usual issue of maintaining a family's image. Finally, it seems like she was their only child and they had their own issues with the hoarding and the fact that they planned this out and were deluded enough to think they could get away with it. They had hyper specific knowledge and enough money but not enough sense.

That's what I'm thinking too. Being catfished by some old creep is shitty, yes, but it's not usually something you'd be ready to kill someone over. Being assaulted definitely is something that you'd want someone dead over, and almost anyones parents would be on board with killing someone who hurt their child. But then again, maybe they really did believe she wouldn't go through with it and would've gotten her rage out of her system and been able to deal with it by telling him off and keying his car or something.

@@monicahyland8641 Not only Dahmer or Gacy have done that though? They may be some of the most "popular" ones, but they are by no means the only ones who can and would do that. There's been plenty other killers who have taken bodies or body parts and kept them as some kind of souvenir, whether it is because of some sick pleasure or as a result of the killer's own attachment issues. There have been cases where bodies have been kept in relatively small apartments or houses and neighbors either don't notice or don't care enough to authorities.
Runa was said to have kept the guy's wallet, phone and other personal items, along with the head and there's also the fact that she filmed part of the slaying and /also/ filmed herself or had someone film her at home while playing with the head, apparently even peeling parts of the skin off at some point. It's clear that she saw it as some kind of trophy and that she wasn't particularly worried about getting caught, hence why no one was truly worried about getting rid of those "souvenirs" (the head, the items and the videos).
Considering the size of the family house, chances are none of them thought they would get caught by the smell alone, especially if the father had some medical knowledge, as he may have had the means to hide the smell (he planned this along with Runa, and even seems to have instructed her, so he definitely was prepared). Point is all this seemed to work, as the reason why Runa's home was searched by police was not the smell, but the evidence found in Hiroshi's computer that led them to Runa.

And Hiroshi honestly had some comeuppance coming as he broke his agreement with Runa, and her parents after he had creeped on her under the pretenses she'd not take this to the authorities, so him setting up a third date was asking for trouble. I don't know I'd honestly blame the justice system/Runa's parents, the law should of been stricter with Hiroshi when he started sexually assaulting women and peeping in public, whereas when Runa nearly stabbed her classmate and threatened to kill him next her parents should of gotten involved and explained she can't do that stuff, or worse case scenario let her see an anger management therapist.

First, that is ONE MESSED UP FAMILY!!!! I can't even imagine a whole family (unless they are a crime family) working together on murdering someone like it's just another family activity. NO ONE in that group did anything good. My God!! 😱😱😱
But also, I have to wonder what would have happened if I had stayed in Japan. I get that there is bullying everywhere, but it seems like it's much more accepted in Japan. I was picked on constantly in the first and second grades (I left for the U.S. when I was in the second grade), though my at-the-time-mostly-absentee mom, once she learned that I walked (quite a long ways) to her and my to-be-stepdad's shack-up house rather than go home to my grandmothers, because I was being followed by one of the bullies, actually did something - she went to the boy's house and gave a pretty good reprimand to his parents, after which the boy stopped bullying me and started being super fake-nice. But my mom didn't know the extent of the bullying - it involved most of the class. My mom thought it was just the one boy. I was constantly sick, thinking back, probably due to continuous stress at school. All because I had vision problems and wore very thick glasses.
I actually DID have a lot of friends in my immediate neighborhood - people I grew up with, teenagers and older kids who were my mentors, younger kids who were almost like siblings, even a little boyfriend when I was about 4 or 5. But at school, it was a whole different story.
In Japan, they seem less tolerant of those that are "different," perhaps more so in smaller towns and cities, like where I lived as a little kid.
When I got to the U.S. sure, there were a few bullies, but most were very accepting, even though I was a foreigner with very limited English skills, and still wore my horrible thick glasses. I made friends, and even though we moved quite a lot since my dad (OK, step-dad) was in the Navy, I still managed to have much more peace than in Japan. In fact, I didn't get sick nearly as often (just the usual childhood colds and such). Maybe it was just the climate, but I think my mental state has SOMETHING to do with it.
Would I have made friends and become more social later in school? Would I have become withdrawn? Would I have just figured out a way to cope? Would kids have been more accepting as we got older? I don't know. I don't think I would have become a sociopath but I do notice that I have vengeful thoughts, and do get very angry at what I perceive to be injustice or bullying behavior. I don't act on it, I certainly wouldn't KILL anyone, but it's definitely there. Probably no correlation, but interesting to think about.

Looks like Runa was bullied to the point she flipped, kinda looks that not just her peers in school feared her, looks like her parents might fear her as well and that's why they complied...
Iroshi had a reputation to mantain, mild manered and well respected, however, he was actually a pervert who catfished young women to get advantage of them...
Runa's father asked him to leave her alone... And still, he just couldn't let her go... He was not a good person and maybe the reaction was extreme, however, whatever is the case, I feel no simpaty or pitty for him...

I agree, obviously she shouldn't have killed him but he was definitely NOT a good person. He should have been in jail instead of being free to be a creep and use his "female persona" to look less dangerous. If his predatory behavior had been taken more seriously he wouldn't have died for sure...

In Runa and her father's case, the nut didn't fall far from the tree.
I feel like her father suffered from mental illness himself, especially since he helped her to plan and carry out the m*rder.
Her mother may have thought that the two would drive around for a while and not go through with it, but she is just as culpable as they are for his m*rder, regardless.
Let's face it, he was no angel, far from it, actually.
I feel like he was taking advantage of young women on dating sites by pretending that he was a lesbian.
One would think that, if he was drugging and assaulting them, someone would have come forward about it happening to them during the publicity in the aftermath of his m*rder.
The entire situation is incredibly disturbing.
Personally, I feel like she was mentally ill as a child and her odd behavior because of it is why she was bullied and made fun of and, of course, the bullying and teasing caused her mental illness to become more pronounced.
Then, the years of isolation, being protected by her parents, etc., escalated until she stalked and m*rders this man.
It truly appears that her father was fully involved with the m*rder from the beginning since he was at the disco on their first "date" and watched from a distance.
    Who knows?
It's incredibly frightening to think about people like any one of them being out there, isn't it?

Thanks so much for this extremely fresh case! Thanks to Mrs. Lazy as well. Wow, this was a big one. From the info here, my hot take is 2-fold:
On the one hand, the female part of me says that Runa and her father DID warn Hiroshi and he effed around and found out. If more women were able to be proactive in their own abuse cases there would be far less abuse.
The much larger remaining (not influenced by gender) part of me says NO NO NO NO NO none of this is okay! This is not a healthy family! This is not something father and daughter are meant to bond over. There has got to be far more going on behind the family scenes if they're willing to push to such extreme boundaries. I'm just glad Mr. Tamura is not my psychologist, or my father. The strangeness of this family goes beyond cultural borders.
If there is truth to Hiroshi's past he should not have been on the streets in the first place, as a matter of public safety. Hearing of the web he entangled unsuspecting women in to do them harm has stripped away a lot of the concern I may have had for his well-being. He reminds me of Joji Obara. But who knows? We may find out more information and I will eat my words. Otherwise, I'm glad he's not my father either.

This is clearly a scummy person who ran into a serial killer in training. The dude was a terrible person, but basically everything said about him is heresay and she clearly planned it out and apparently japan has awful laws about sex crimes or just doesnt enforce them. So i dont know where i stand, but this girl was probably going to kill someone eventually no matter what.

@@humble2246 Simps and neckbeards suffering from Yellow Fever. They'll take any Asian woman they can get their hands on, and oftentimes prefer the "broken" ones so they can fulfill their savior complex. Life is an anime to these people, after all.
Or it's just a simple case of "no woman can do wrong" syndrome. People like to think women have to be pushed into something drastic, though if a man suffered the exact same injustices, anything he does as a result is his own fault.
      Fun, isn't it?

To be honest, I think that Runa had enough of a motive to kill. In this case Hiroshi was in a way the unfortunate "victim" of Runa's deep seeded anger. She hated men due to her bullying and she would pretty much bottle up that anger. So when Hiroshi came and lied to her, it was just the perfect excuse for her to kill. She showed it when she chased her classmate with a box cutter and then threatened him afterwards. Of course in a way its sad that she had to endure the bullying but its also one of the main reasons why she ended up doing what she did in the future. Her parents also didn't help at the fact that they pretty much bend over backwards for Runa. Its understandable that they cared for her and wanted the best, but giving all the power to your children and having them boss you around is not they way to go. If her father was a psychatrist, then she should've spoken to her and tried to get to the bottom of it. Hiroshi also wasn't a saint too, because he too was part of cheating. Just that he met the wrong person to do said catfishing and overall was just taking advantage of women too. Sooner or later it was going to catch up with him too.
