One key kit that you didn’t cover is Shotgun Shock. They’re leagues above the majority of the air ride kits available-in all of their areas.
great video Dewey, you should definitely do more of these
Thanks Michael!
Great video you seem very knowledgeable on air ride.
Nice video....are you planning in the near future to do a front and rear air install?....hopefully for a big front wheel...26" fat 23" ect.? I think you would be the 1st to show a full install for the American suspension kit
Thank you! Definitely a future video. Just gotta get connected with someone who can assist with filming/editing so the video is informative enough to be helpful to viewers.
Great video. I am in the market and this has helped make the decision much easier. How do you feel about rear only set ups? I have been set on rear only for a long time but would like to know what the disadvantages are besides looks.
I'd say no disadvantage either way you go! The great thing about the American Suspension setup is everything comes setup to add front whenever you want. So you aren't stuck with making a bunch of changes if you ever want to add the front air.
whats the difference between AS and dirty air kit?
Can you explain what you were saying about the disadvantage of the American Suspension kit, i didn’t quite get that
Only disadvantage is that the American Suspension controls require connecting directly to the air lines. So it limits your control locations to either the firewall under the seat on the rh side or mounted above the horn. With the other kits they use 12v dump valves. So you can wire a switch anywhere on the bike to control those. But those are also the most common failure point of the other kits.
Ok i just installed my rear today and its flawless, my front has extension on the forks and a 2011 FLHX Street glide w/ 30 inch wheel. Would i just need what’s in the kit for extended forks?
For front air ride
Do you have the American Suspension bolt on rake kit? If so the extensions should already be tapped for air. You could replace the plugs with air fittings and do air over oil. We do all air over oil for front air ride. Better ride quality and fill/dump is better. You would need to remove the fork springs and put in heavier fork oil.
@@suburbanbaggerco i have a rake kit but not theirs, it has extensions with a fitting size of 1/4. Was curious if the springs sent would work with extensions
What lift are you using in the back?
Good ol Harbor Freight lift.
I used Legend Air about 10 years ago. After 5000 miles, oil leaked from the shock absorbers. When they were disassembled, there was a lot of sand inside, which damaged the seals. After that I had to stop using air ride. Now, after experimenting with spring shock, I'm thinking about going back to air shock again.
Can you tell me - Does the RamAir compressor have an inlet filter or is there such a way to install it?
It is not setup with a filter on it. But....the best part about this kit is it carries a lifetime warranty from American Suspension. I have one customer who has already put 10k miles on the kit this season alone with zero issues. Best kit on the market in our opinion as far as reliability goes.
@@suburbanbaggerco Yes. The rear shock absorbers look much better than competitors. Presence of dust seal and absence of air bags is the best solution (for me personally).
