I agree on the boxes, I just through them away. If they just spent 5 to 10 dollars on packaging you could easily increase the resale value and collect ability of their knives. Most collectibles fair a higher price in the original packaging but spyderco is an exception because the ship everything in a cheap cardboard box.

Love the Videos, I have a pair of Case Bowies' one has a super fat stag handle that were my Dad's along with a Blackjack model 7 in A2( strait razor sharp) that I got from Mike Stewart of Bark River when he was making his knives in Indiana or Illinois in the early 90s

You can still get the Apostle P Bark River Bowie I think its called the Gunny Sidekick. I believe its an exclusive to Knives Ship Free, and the current variation is CPM154 they have had versions in M4 in the past and I think 3v not sure what the other steel is. Looking at a couple hundred range for one depending on which handle materials are left. Last I looked they still had some in stock but they came out now a couple months ago so stock is probably pretty low. I should probably buy one myself before they sell out lol.
Thank God! Finally, a KRV of a Spiderco Knife....Despite a world full of craziness.....you just made my day Nutn! Gonna watch this after my hike with the wifu...
Smith and Wesson, TRR* model. I dropped a link to it somewhere around here. It's awesome, a bit modern, but 8 rounds and moon clip capable out of the box with a pretty good trigger. -Doodle

Hey nutnfancy love your content , Been watching from 08 . Are you going to review the ps9 dagger when they come out ? Hoping so , Thanks for all your hard work .
It's probably something they've leaned into since it's consistent, recognizable, and cheaper. Problem is, pricy knives aren't stocked on shelves very often facing consumers, so differentiating the box is kinda moot. It's kinda in keeping with their as-seen-on-tv sharpener origins moving on upwards, since it's one of those line items the boss doesn't care enough about to start driving up costs. A bummer, but whatever. It is kinda funny, because so many guys keep packaging for resale. -Doodle
Hey nuntnfancy, I am a huge fan of yours and have watched your videos since I was 12. Living in NYC doesn't allow me to have the cool guns you review but the knifes have definitely brought about some good ideas I may be able to do here. (Can't carry these types of knifes but has sparked ideas) Please keep up the great videos and remember that there are more like minded patriots here behind enemy lines than most people admit. Even in these challenging times. Thanks
@@nutnfancy Thanks. I learned this while doing competitive shooting as a member of the SUNY Maritime College rifle team. I had wanted to get a firearms permit to legally own (not carry, separate and impossible permit) firearms but there is a provision in the application that allows NYPD and feds to enter your home to inspect the firearm and any time for any reason because there is a firearm on the property. Due to this clause, I am not applying for the permit simply because the idea of police inspecting my home is not good.
I feel you on the lame boxes. I just got my first Spyderco in years. The jade g10 manix 2 xl, and when I saw it was the exact same box I was surprised, but not in a good way.
Just got this knife in the mail today and I love it! Spydercos have always been the favorite for me 👍. I agree with the box change too that shit came in bent and crinkled
I'd be curious to sit in on some of their product planning meetings. Sometimes they release stuff like these that seem to be a little off the usual mark. I would bet there are all kinds of designer agreements and drama behind the scenes that we aren't privy to. Too bad, because these limited ones can be very, very cool but you're likely to miss out if you don't grab them while they're around for 'cheap'. -Doodle
I almost bought a similar bark river Bowie for around 200 bucks and I dearly regret not pulling the trigger. So sweet. I just run my workhorses at the moment. (Old Esee junglas and old cold steel srk that was a soldier knife carried in Afghanistan) cool video! I'm a dork for knives as well!
NF mentioned he bought it back when they were out of vogue, funny to think only about 10 years ago did people start finding old school stuff all that cool. He grabbed a bunch of old M&P revolvers from a lot someone tossed on consignment. Against the glocks in the case, they were low interest and cheap as hell. Funny how you never can afford all the cool stuff while it's around for 'cheap;'. I remember guys saying they wanted a P7 back at $600 but it was too expensive. That's only gotten worse! -Doodle
Everything you put on your table, I love lol...Good buddy makes knives, called Borras kustom designs. I’m gonna see if he’ll send you one for funzies. 🤙🏼
Ah dude, you're in trouble! If your wife ever watches this, all your weapons cannot protect you from the Mrs. There is no weapon against the wrath of a goddess! Good luck, bro!
I agree. I could see this being a one run and done if it doesn’t sell quickly. I believe they are still selling the first run of Proficient fixed blades. This could suffer the same fate.
This reminds me of the Spyderco Genzow hatchet. A somewhat bizarre, coolish looking(?) entry into a realm you wouldn’t expect to see Spyderco.....but expensive and not bringing anything to the table that a cheaper and better designed alternative doesn’t already offer.
Must be some kind of a Psychic hahaha because they certainly did discontinue these and why I do not know because they're an amazing I mean amazing knife! I am so glad that I bought one
Only video I dislike from Mr fancy 😂 this knife can do a shit ton of work it has a badass steel and cuts like a bat out of hell idk why you think this not can't be used to camp survival or self defense it's gonna do well I think Mr fancy is just got too many knives
that Alley Kat looks cool, but for a bigger fixed blade, a stainless, hollow grind made out of 0.15" stock wont do, especially not at 54-55 HRC, being that low on the Rockwell scale makes it tougher I guess... but being that thin, especially with that grind, its basically an over grown kitchen knife, it'd either bend or break way to easily. that edge would roll like a marble down a hill. way to soft. even esse, who are known to have soft blades, Rockwell @ 57-58.
If you love bowies and using them in the field, get a TOPS Prather War Bowie. Yeah, the name's a little dorky and the sheath needs to be thrown away and replaced with a Red Hill kydex, but after that it's perfect. Very stabby, very choppy. Love using mine in the woods.
If it had a nice hand guard I would definitely buy one of those knives... maybe even two.. it just appears to be too much like a chefs knife, and without a hand guard , for me, it prevents me from using it as a Bowie knife..I think it’s cool.. 100%... just not for that amount of money the way it is.. add a nice hand guard and for me, it would cover every type of cool and beyond... I also agree about the handle, but I usually modify my handles anyway no matter the knife, and also add some grip texture to my large working knives... I’d be in if they dropped the price a bit though... great review, and thank you for showing this product, as Most people would never know about it unless they are spiderco collectors or are partial to that brand.. also what make and model was the second Bowie that you showed?
I remember the old GI Joe boxes, and they were very cool. I wish I still had mine. As for the knife, I'd rather just buy a Buck 119 Special that I'd actually use outdoors and save $240.
Spyderco has become overpriced in the last few years and yet they keep raising their prices year after year. Hence the Spyderco delica 4 is now $84 per Bladehq and that's the VG10 version. I haven't bought a Spyderco since the Slysz Bowie. Almost bought the Shaman but they raised the price.
That is why I don't buy standard models of the popular stuff that gets sprints and exclusives. The sprints and exclusives are nearly the same price. Look at the Knifeworks 204p Delica that is in stock right now its only $89 so only $4-5 more and getting 204p over the normal VG10. Only time I will buy standard production models for the most part is the upgraded steel production stuff like the s110v, spy27, Maxamet, and the new Seki k390 stuff. My Knifeworks 204p Delica should be here tomorrow might order a 2nd before they sell out for that price.
It's a solid business practice. If you don't think your product will perform as well as the competition, triple the price so that those who buy it will never ever use it.
Polished G-10? Yeah, that won't be slippery at all. The handle is squared off because its cheaper to make. My problem with Spyderco is when they come out with a knife at this price point, they make it in Asia and cheap out on all the features. Both the Case and the Bark River are both superior and made with more expensive American labor for less dollars. A totally cool competitive option is the Tops Prather War Bowie.
On the bright side, if you buy one of those chintzy skinny "survival" ferro rods, you could scrape it by running it through the spidey hole, thereby saving your sharp spine for scraping fatwood. And you thought it wouldn't be a good woods knife.Sheesh.Shows how much you know! LOL Just kidding..no, not a good woods knife, but damn..it IS cool looking!

That S&W TRR8 gives me a bohemith bone R!!!
To be honest: this one is the verry first Spiderco that gives me the fizz.
Having the lines shown on the blade is a different look and having it as perfect as it looks is a sign of quality . Anyone can have a polished blade
The second you said it was made in Taiwan and $200+, I thought “ Nutn has some Bark River’s that are way cooler”. You do not disappoint
Bark River kicks ass.
Only video I dislike from Mr fancy 😂 this knife can do a shit ton of work it has a badass steel and cuts like a bat out of hell idk why you think this not can't be used to camp survival or self defense it's gonna do well I think Mr fancy is just got too many knives
I agree. This knife will cut an arm off.
“It can also tell me that I haven’t had sex with my wife in six months”?
Hell no! I ain’t having a spy on my wrist like that!!
😅😎
the boxes are just fine. Go Dawgs!!!
I would totally buy it for 150$. Cool knife.
that Alley Kat looks cool, but for a bigger fixed blade, a stainless, hollow grind made out of 0.15" stock wont do, especially not at 54-55 HRC, being that low on the Rockwell scale makes it tougher I guess... but being that thin, especially with that grind, its basically an over grown kitchen knife, it'd either bend or break way to easily. that edge would roll like a marble down a hill. way to soft. even esse, who are known to have soft blades, Rockwell @ 57-58.
The Katz reminds me of the tops pig hunter but with a little more bling bling.
You are brilliant and hilarious 👍
3 months? Holy Mary Mother of God!
If you love bowies and using them in the field, get a TOPS Prather War Bowie. Yeah, the name's a little dorky and the sheath needs to be thrown away and replaced with a Red Hill kydex, but after that it's perfect. Very stabby, very choppy. Love using mine in the woods.
I have a Bark River Bowie, the 1909 Michigan Bowie, awesome knife, $330.00.
Yes more TRR8 videos!
Honestly looks like a "tactical kitchen knife" lol doesn't do it for me the spyderco respect however is a different story that thing is sweet
The outline looks so generic though
Would rather have the Esee for half the price.
It's a nice chef's knife
Ontario marine raider knife. Beats all Bowie knives.
Its a beautiful blade. That said I can't stand spyderco putting the holes in their fixed blades.
For that price I'll get a Bark River made in America and better knife. Thanks still for the review.
Correct
Hmmm....no you fanboys...this one beats all of my BR knives...all 8 of them
@@reneklein3658 wrong
Dino Nucci ahh..you here mate, seeing how it shames Bravo 1 in S35,&3V, and all the others Elmax to A2...
No, you’re not.
Idiot...
@@reneklein3658 post a vid and send us links. Otherwise: wrong
I remember the old GI Joe boxes, and they were very cool. I wish I still had mine. As for the knife, I'd rather just buy a Buck 119 Special that I'd actually use outdoors and save $240.
It's a nice knife but at it's price and the glossy handle I would just bring the SOG Agency along. First and second cool to the max.
EDC in the territory of the ManBearPig.
That is somewhere in Colorado near South Park.
"There coming right for us"
Spyderco has become overpriced in the last few years and yet they keep raising their prices year after year.
Two thumbs way up for the S&W Performance Center revolver in 357 Magnum, TNP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like it should go into a knife block more than a sheath.k-bar is a better value and looks way better.
I remember when you reviewed the Glock...
...the knife that is.
Nice revolver
On the bright side, if you buy one of those chintzy skinny "survival" ferro rods, you could scrape it by running it through the spidey hole, thereby saving your sharp spine for scraping fatwood. And you thought it wouldn't be a good woods knife.Sheesh.Shows how much you know! LOL Just kidding..no, not a good woods knife, but damn..it IS cool looking!
I wish someone would make a LARGE Bowie knife but something that doesn’t look like it’s owned by a FUDD
Old west bowiest,,!! Modern...modern
Fixed blade!!!!! Thank you Nutn!!!!! Just like the old days
The handle does suck. I have like 2xl hands and it feels uncomfortable.
It slices it dices it will cut a tin can in half and still cut a tomato paper thin.
