This is one great guitar by Bob Shade, and they are not p-90 pickups they sound nothing like a p90, they sound like a 60's Mosrite. very low action, very well made. a little on the heavy side. these guitars come with a high quality hard case. all for $999.
Hallmark guitars are the only reasonably priced competition to Mosrite that produce the desired tones closely. Although Mosrite (Bakersfield, CA) is a superb instrument, Bob Shade gives musicians an alternative that rivals said CA make, which non-professionals (as I am) can really get some great tone and playability. I owned a '63 Ventures Model for a number of years. Bob Shade is doing justice to the originals and current U.S. production Mosrites. Nothing taken away from Mosrites (USA-made), just a note that it is an affordable option that sounds and plays great.
Love the guitar with the exception of the headstock, it looks like Bart Simpsons head.
You could say it's a sister guitar to the Mosrite Ventures model; Mosrites always were like that. The top was cut out to look like the top of an M, they made the design over 25 years before The Simpsons aired.
Very retro looking guitar and sounds great too! Thanks for sharing Shane!
Amen!!!
I think that tremolo system is unique. Sounded useful.
These things are awesome!
1 2 3 4 Rock rock rock rock rock'n'roll high school!
DMSProduktions 😁
\m/ Rock ON baby! I DON'T wanna be sedatedddddddd!
Looks a bit like a mosrite, but with better access to the upper frets more like a PRS. I'd be cranking out some Tumbleweed on that sucker.
These are made not too far from me. Nice!
Yeah it's funky but sounds cool. Never been a fan when the body horn is bigger on the bottom though, looks upside down :)
I had a vox bulldog from late sixties looked just like that guitar ....
Take me back to the 60. Man, they nailed the Moseley look.
different tone... kinda cool.
That clicky clean thing is so annoying.
What you are playing is a very accurate copy of the Mosrite Ventures model, right down to Semie Mosely's amazing Vibramute bridge. The zero fret, reverse strat contours and German carved top are all there. This is a fine example of how to research expired patents and reclaim them with little to no mention of the original genius from which they sprang.
Hallmark didn't really "reclaim them," though; Mosrite models are still made in Japan, last I checked. Also, the owner of the company frequently comments about different Mosrite subjects in Mosrite Groups on Facebook. He's not exactly "hiding" or "not mentioning" anything when he's swimming in the middle of Mosrite Groups where most everyone knows what he's selling.
I have the man or astroman model. Best guitar I've ever played. HALLMARKS ROCK!!!!
It's a pretty close copy of a Mosrite Ventures model. I learned how to play on my Uncles 12-string Mosrite Ventures model.
This a very good Mosrite copy of the Ventures model Mosrite, larger frets, undated bridge, set neck, loud wide range pickups that sound like the real deal, the price is outstanding $999. with a high quality case. A new Mosrite like this would be about $ 3,500 Bob Shade has done a terrific bringing this model back, also there is not a better trem system made today as good as the Shade trem, stays in tune, with the help of the roller bridge, very light to the touch. Check them out at Hallmark Guitars.
Picking up the buzz, but that tone is nice.
A funky beast!!!!!🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤘🏽🎸🎸🎸🎸
Great demo! Thanks. I’ve been searching for a demo of this guitar played aggressively. People are too polite with these. Helpful demo. Again, thanks!
Looks like a Moserite Venture mate ! Cool demo !
Agree! Very much of a Mosrite vibe to that thing. Not my particular cup of tea, but it sure sounds nice.
The neck's thicker than a Mosrite's neck and the scale length's 1/4 of an inch longer, though; that's Hallmark's thing. They make Mosrite inspired guitars (and other models, some look like violins) with thicker necks and slightly darker-sounding pickups, that is, the pups are potted. (Original Mosrite pups weren't wax potted.)
so cool....really needed some surf tunes to set if off
These pickups are not p 90's.
Correct. They're not long enough.
Wow!!! Wicked looking and sounding guitar. Good chops as always Shane.
Great reviews mate 👍 I stumbled across Hallmarks website some time ago by accident and was impressed by their history & current models available .
Their website SUCKS but their guitars rule.
Get that thing! Throw Jerry some biz. Zero-fret Mosrite copy really seems to suit your style! Your playing is very musical on that axe. So it's a little heavy…ever see Russ Ballard's Strat?? Oldschool weight-relief
What is that blue guitar in the background (next to your head) in the beginning of the video? I gotta know!!
Also, this guitar is awesome and so if your demo. Cheers
Nice to see you back in the States shane. Enjoy the Florida weather. Nice tone on that guitar, but i could never get past the look. Lol just awful.
I like it! I've been looking at the Danelectro 64. I like the 60's pawnshop look of these types of guitars.
Little Supro looking - got quality looking build - sounds great
I talked to these guys at last years NAMM show and they admitted the look and shape was copied from Mosrite, who had let the patent expire.
Love the neck chime! Very cool tones from this guitar. And left handed to boot!
Love that color
The tones don't match the looks. That thing rips
John Osborne The tone matches it perfectly. It looks rad!
I hope you tried the Suhr Bella amp that's behind you. Those are world class
Is that an epiphone firebird on the stand? Are epiphone making those again now?
That's an older Firebird by Epiphone back there. The video went up a few weeks back it's pretty wild! :-)
intheblues ah man! Thought they were making them in that finish again. Would love a firebird but Gibson are a bit £££ for me!. The wait continues!
I think the body shape is basically a reverse Strat
It's said that the Mosrite Ventures (and therefore, this model that's based on the Ventures model) is based on a reversed Strat. However, the shape doesn't line up 100%.
Brian Miller , all the guitarist who admire the Mosrite and their copies designed by Joe Hall know that said by Semie Moseley RIP.
@@gabrielpeschardvazquez8905 Even after 6 decades I still think that is a really cool shaped guitar!
As I understand it, Hallmark owns the rights to Mosrite’s designs. Those likely are Moserite single coils, not P90’s. It means significantly higher output and possibly a completely different design on the inside (air coil).
As far as those pickups, they may look like P90's but they have twice the output, something around 14K. So,hotter than the average humbucker.
@@donmunson4802 The construction is similar, but different to P90's. Hallmarks are usually around 12K and potted. Mosrite Mark I's had a few minor variations in construction and the DCR can very from just over 10K to over 15K and they can be very microphonic! The pickups in the Ventures II and Mark V guitars are a completely different animal as well (the ones without pole pieces).
