I cant believe i actually had head bob on with 1007 hours in the game. They MUST have reset those settings some while ago, when i began playing mordhau i went over all settings and made sure everything was as sweaty as possible 0o
No kidding, I didn't even realize headbobbing was a thing until I saw this.
stouty brought in Crush for me to personally 1v1 at the end of coaching, it was so sick. Highly recommend.
I used all my mouse key binds for voice commands. Taunting you opponent is more effective way of fighting.
I have kinda memorised them but I have a binding for x9 its hard to reach there tho

I signed up for coaching with Stouty and all I got was this sick bowl cut
I've been trying to adjust the mappings a little to preference and to help with muscle memory. I can definitely see why people do this. The more accurate manipulation of where you're striking from lets me control the timings of my swings more accurately with my drags and accels, and thank fucking god headbob has gone. Also the freedom to be able to move my mouse wherever I want without having to worry about fucking my intended swing direction up. Anyway, here's my keybinds:
Left Upper: Q
Left Middle: E
Left Lower: L-ALT
Right Upper: Mouse Wheel Down
Right Middle: Left Click
Right Lower: Side Mouse Button
I moved Use to C.
It helps because its easier to learn the new muscle when left hand controlling all the left swings and my mouse controls all the right swings. I also have them mapped in a way that the upper is on the "Top" of the keyboard and the mouse and the lower is on the "Bottom" of the keyboard and mouse. Splitting it this way just helps my brain understand the change better. Plus my garbo bargin bin mouse has barely any useful other buttons.

I think the coaching is worth it. Me and good ole stout had a few rounds yesterday and I had a blast. Also taught me the best method for dragging and accelling. TheRatKing ftw
Enabled + Boost is for sure better. More consistent frame rates during team fights or highly populated servers. Don't use it if you have a trash GPU though. Simple as that.
your video named "best mouse for mordhau" is what made me upgrade my mouse a while ago and I can confirm that playing on custom binds is so much easier once you get used to it.
Coming from chiv 1 these setting make much more sense to my brain, thank you very much Stoutmeister :)
I use C to feint and keep my left thumb on both C and Spacebar. You never need to hold spacebar unlike A, so it’s way better

@stouty for nvidia reflex, go in your drivers settings to activate the new function, and then it should work in games that support it
The enabled+boost feature gives a higher consistency of fps,making the gpu work 20% harder.

Get rid of temporal antialiasing, it's just a slightly less shitty FXAA and serves only to blur the fuck out of the picture.

middle finger on the mouse wheel is the only way I can play this game.
I use quite an idiosyncratic mouse control scheme and I only have two extra buttons:
LMB = Stab
RMB = Parry
Mwheelup = Left Overheads
Mwheeldown = Left Undercuts
Middle Mouse = Feint
Thumb Button 1 = Flip Attack Side
Thumb Button 2 = Left Horizontals
My superior Xbox Controller control scheme cares not for these "binds"

Really great guide, I use some of these graphics tweaks myself and can't recommend them enough. I recommend trying out r.Fog 0 in tandem with these commands which takes image clarity another step further.

from mostly default scheme and 246 to this exact layout, i feel like my skill devolved an entire year
you need to practice chambering vs a bot to get muscle memory first
I jumped in this morning and it started developing quicker than i thought honestly

slomo (useful for some, start out slow, speed up as you get it down more)

Idk if this is bad or not, but my binds are basically just copypasted from Chiv 1 with Strike being M1, Overhead being scroll down and Stab being scroll up.
I have the underhand as M4 and then hold-alt for doing the opposite side (e.g. left strike). Is this an okay control scheme?

that's fine if you're used to it, I personally set up new players with left swings on their own keys but flip attack side works well

I did something with my controls that is a bit strange but ended up working really well for me. I made space bar flip attack side and i made left alt Jump. Sometimes i fat thumb the keyboard when flip attack is left alt. It works great for me. Just an idea. I have the 3 right attacks bound to lmb and my mousewheel. and stab as a button on my mouse.
ive really liked using switch attack side, ive gotten way better with that instead of using the other side of my mouse

900 hours, I still prefer 240 and I'm decent enough. Can't bear the change after so long with muscle memory
thanks stouty, i have over 4k hours in source and 1k hours in cs go and all though ill never be as good in this game as i am with that game, i still like to play it because its fuin and it takes skill. its good to know that someone who is a veteran of slasher games looking out for the newer players, having the right binds is the first step and yes, i use barebones fps mice lol

this is all fine - but the one thing that really surprised me was the rmb feint and parry. does that not get really aggrevating in scrims? i can see it being a lot more dynamic in duels but trying to parry switches mid attack must be infuriating, part of the reason I changed it in the beginning was due to how sluggish it felt to spam rmb to hit a parry
I'm used to it now but yeah that is a drawback

Update: i started by changing my faint key from Q to right mouse so now i have parry and feint on right mouse and its really confusing and akward
am I the only person that got better going from keybinds to 240
well I feel like with 240 you get more different directional attacks more frequently, and chambering is easier. But both these can be fixed by practice

In defence for 240 (as I use it and am certainly above average)
Never has it happen to me that I accidentally do a swing that I didn't want to do. You will basically move your mouse in 8 directions and not 240.
The game is more intuitive and easier to play that way, especially for casuals, so for casuals/new commers to the genre I would first just let 240 and if they like mordhau switch to keybinds if anything.
For every 240 player that I've coached they would misinput their ripostes when practicing a right horizontal drag, I'd also argue it's easier to click a key and know which swing you're getting; the only thing that's more difficult is chambering which new players shouldn't do too often anyway. Once the binds are memorised (which will come naturally with time or with practice vs the bot) you are far better set up than you would have been with 240. Binds allows you to jump in and play whilst also offering a higher skill ceiling over time. It is possible to be a good player with 240 of course (like my Wizardish example) but I feel everyone would improve with full binds

I noticed at the keybind settings you didn't mention which key you would recommend for left upper strike. Do you have a particular key/mouse button to bind it to? (I use a Razer DeathAdder for my mouse - Only 2 side buttons).

What do you think of hybrid control scheme? I like to chamber for initiative and find it much easier to have a keybind for directional mouse for easy chambers
once you have muscle memory with binds, you don't need 240 in any capacity

and what do you think of having feint on mmb (wheel click)? i have enough buttons for that and all slash angles and i think it works kinda well. it's a corsair nightsword

Went from alt attack to this.. Been trying to get used to it for 10 days. RMB parry and feint just feels too sluggish, can't get used to it.
Keep in mind you shouldn't be feinting to parry anyway, this is a waste of stamina. In terms of timing though it is just a double click although often its best to separate the feint from the parry in order to read your opponent during your feint in case they're feinting you
i don't understand the feint or parry to the same key bind, if you are in the middle of an attack and want to parry then you have to double click right click which adds lets say 50ms AND you lose stamina for the wasted feint.
you lose stamina either way and that time rarely gets you hit
@@Stouty thanks for the reply, but isn't the feint before the parry wasted stamina since you could have used another key to just parry. If you are never low on stamina using this method then that would make sense.

When talking about the bare bones mouse like a zowie, you miss out right lower strike and left upper strike key binds?

change your resolution in video to 1920x1080, at some point you must have accidentally changed it (you probably pressed f11). It's not your mouse

i really like the flip-atack-side with alt, and strike with all the regular mouse buttons thumb, wheel down, and left click.
It doesn't make sense to me mapping each atack key to keyboard do you have an image, i didn't get i guess, k , right bracket and semicolon are way to far on the keyboard to be comfortable ???

he just bound it via his mouse software he doesnt use k and ;. just use what you are comfortable with. although 1 button for each angle is nice because chamber muscle memory will be easier this way.
if you're used to flip attack side just stick with it, it's a good system

I play on 240 fps which is probably why it looks smoother than most players

Man after playing the Chiv beta all my muscle memory got screwed. 4-500 hours and I forgot how to play after a week brake.

@@Vorioth I’m just gonna play both. I’m definitely gonna put a lot of hours into chiv. But mordhau still has the better combat so as soon as there’s an update or I get bored of chiv, I’m gonna go back to mordhau for a while. And relearn the muscle memory.
