TÝR "Ragnars Kvæði" from the "Hel" album.
"Ragnars Kvæði is a traditional Faroese ballad about Ragnar Loðbrók, the legendary king of Denmark during the seventh century. This melody was preserved on a very old recording in the Faroese from sometime around the middle of the 1900s, and the text in some Faroese manuscripts from the mid 1800s. The original ballad is very long, over 100 verses. Here we have only three verses, taken from the part about where Ragnar meets Aslaug. This part is a migratory legend with parallels in many cultures around the world. I thought this ballad was really worth something, so my first thought was to make a Heavy Metal version of it for Týr. Terji plays the solo on the album version, but Attila made a new solo for this version, since he would be playing in the video, and well done indeed! Thanks to all who participated in the hard work of making this video. We hope you enjoy it!" - Heri Joensen
"This video's story is based on an ancient ballad: two souls are looking for each other through time and space; they are summoning each other in their dreams, reading the signs to finally meet - no matter when and where they were before. The story was shot in Transylvania, Romania, and Hungary, and every place we visited gave us hard circumstances and surprising solutions at the same time, so it was a true adventure.
"Since the weather changes really fast in Transylvania, planning ahead was not an option sometimes; we had to improvise quite often. Our half-naked actors showed true grit; the temperature was around -6 °C (around 22 °F) during the snowy scenes. The band parts were shot also in Slovenia (along with the video for "Sunset Shore") and that trip was also a huge challenge but the band members were absolutely tough, and we climbed together the highest hills with full equipment in our hands and on our backs. We all agreed that exceptional things are born this way, so putting 120% effort into it wasn't a problem for anybody." - Viktor / Mihaszna Film

@@christianfreedom-seeker934 The way I see Herr Mannerling is that the idiotic Christian simply insults a decent pagan woman by calling her a troll. The key is that the man starts by saying she isn't a Christian woman. A song made by Christians to demean and dehumanize the true Europeans.

At this point, you're better off learning íslenska. At least, more people are speaking it. ;) And from what I've red, it's a tiny bit closer to what proto-germanic really sounded like. But hey! Respect to the people of the Faroes Islands for sill speaking their native language, against all odds. One would thinks that they would all speak dansk by now. Still, I, myself, am trying to learn norsk and svenska instead of íslenska, because I'm a lazy ass and I can't for the life of me pronounce this damn letter correctly : ð. Hm, all jokes aside... From someone whose mother tongue is not english, it's quite difficult. Norsk and svenska have a more latin-based sound to them, almost spanish-like (they even have some french vocabulary). Which, for me, makes it's way easier. I'm planning to learn íslenska someday... Just for fun. When I'll have some time to kill. Quite a lot of time...

    Hvørki fekk hann Ragnar kongur
Frið um nátt rógv ella dag
Fyrr enn hann hevði knørrin smíða
    Suður yvir hav
    Títtir við streingjum berjast dreingir
    Syngur í oddameingi
    Klovna taka tvinni skjøldur
    Ørnin dregur á veingir
Deyðir detta dreingir niður á svørðin
Frúgv steig inn um snekkjunnar bor
    Tað mundi ongan vara
Orm bar hon í eyga á sær
    Dóttir Sjúrðar snara
    Sjúrður frægi var faðir hennar
    Hann stóð í ormsins blóði
    Ásla vard hon kallað sjálv
    Og Brynhild var hennara móðir
    [English translation:]
    Ragnar king got neither
    Peace at night or day
Until he had built the ship
    South across the sea
Fast on their strings, heroes fight
    The vanguard sings
    Double shields split
    The eagle draws its wings
Heroes fall dead down on the field
A lady stepped on the ship's board
    Nobody seemed to notice
She bore a worm in her eye
    Daughter of Sigurd the Fast
Sigurd the Fast was her father
He stood in the blood of the dragon
    Asla was her name
    And Brynhild was her mother

Love it! I commend you on the delivery of this song. Those of us who don't speak our ancestor's native tongue because we have been dispersed through out the world do not get lost in grasping the meaning and understanding of this song. So many times in music today you lose the meaning of a song in the music video. You not only follow through but paint the picture for those of us who are ignorant when it comes to the language. I also very much enjoyed the video Heri did on his own channel about this. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to make sure we grasp the intensity of this song. May the gods forever smile upon you. Blessings brothers.

@@peterlokin7776 Yes, keep going, I kinda like it. I admit though just repeating a catch phrase from a trip-advisor site promoting that city: they call Sighisoara "the oldest continuously inhabited medieval city in the world". Now, I don't know why Rome, Istanbul, Antioch, Vienna, Prague or whatever else city does not meet their requirements for the title, I'm not debating you or being snarky, just stating the facts (i.e. that's how a promoting site called it and I went with it). Cheers!
PS: later edit - I hope that if I mention that Antioch isn't in Europe it won't spark the greatest oldest debate with where are Europe's borders; :)))

@@oberstul1941 Well, it may be the oldest continuously inhabited medieval city in the world considering that Athens or Rome are not from those Medieval times, but from Antiquity.

@@wikipediaHactually did some research on this, and sadly Sighi is not special at all regarding the oldest continually inhabited medieval place; they (some travel company) just used to boast that lie to get more tourists. Still love it, tho.

He lead millions into battle if not more. Older than Odin older than Thor. He saw blessed times past with present strife yet a golden future to last. He leads giants and men, Reapers and Shidhe. A legendary general and leader of The Wild Hunt retired to rest in a sacred Glen.
He has a wife, from tales long afore Midgar, back when the people were one. She, one of the leaders of the Valkyrie and of both the Ljósálfar and Dökkálfar.
While Odin stayed to his politics for a time, Tyr does so much more. Fenrir now released and old wounds healed. The punishment of Ragnarock no more, for a new light shines through the door.
Do you know Tyr? Do you know Nym? Twin Flame rebirth, Midgard reunion. Gaia awake, the power is great.
Old ones rise once more. The land breathes. The giants are here. Jörmungandr has bestowed his blessings. Elven King stirs.

You know some, not enough. Listen now to one who bears The Wolf's Voice. For I know Tyr the betrayer, Lord of perjury. An oath he gave and an oath he broke in elder days. For Odin's sake he left bound to a stone in the Ironwood he that was to slay the death-father, he that Tyr had raised as his own son.
Do you hear the death approaching, do you see the ice? The bringer of Winter, the Father of Werewolves is free. Justice shall be had on Tyr and the other Wretched Aesir for their broken oaths and for their wickedness. Such feeble gods are unfit to rule.
Fenrir comes. The chain is as broken as The false gods' words. And no power can stop the Jotun this time all shall see the Doom of those who deigned call themselves Powers. For the Wolf King too has done much in secret and his sons are many and vast. The one who all the gods feared comes with destruction.
