So Rory can criticise other people but she can’t take ONE CRITICAL COMMENT! She fumbles when she’s been critiqued among all the praise she’s got in her life and just messes up her career
Do you remember how reluctant she was to writing so negatively until Doyle basically forced her to? And do you remember how guilty she felt when she saw the dancer was offended? She doesn't like to criticize people like that, so she is not a hypocrite in this regard.
So unnecessary for her to insult Sandra like that. She didn’t have to write about her if she was more creative and compassionate. Calling this girl a hippo when she’s not even fat is despicable.
Paris at the end is so funny to me. She responds with 11/10 to every situation, and god only knows if those five people realized the danger they were in because of Rory's article.
I felt sorry for Rory when I originally saw this episode, but "Bye Jerk! Die Jerk!" is probably my favourite insult in the entire show. And Rory should've seen that situation coming. 🤷🏾♀️
This episode has made me uncomfortable and felt that it didn’t age well. Maybe she could’ve critiqued the ballet where it didn’t have anything to do with her body and more of the performances. It’s ironic how her grandfather said something to the effect of telling someone they aren’t cut out for it when Mitchum told Rory that and Rory had a fit, stole a yacht, and dropped out of Yale. Doyle even told her being a journalist is hard and people will be upset at bad reviews and she can choose to not continue with the Yale daily news. It seems like she isn’t cut out for journalism like Mitchum said. I woken them be able to go into journalism. I’m very sensitive and take things personally. Like others have said, she might’ve been good at research and being a professor
The fact that rory tried to take it back and rewrite the review proves that she doesn't have what it takes to be a reporter. Reporters and Jornalists are meant to be strong and honest, even if the truth is brutal and Rory is just too naive and innocent to handle that type of pressure. She's also too sensitive.
@Psychedelicroadtrip No, I don't think she is. I think she doesn't mind criticising people but she falls apart when people criticise her. Her "sweetness" is like a shield and weapon for her
In Rory’s defense, that’s how the critiquing system is, they are very harsh and critical, unless a movie is an absolute masterpiece, it probably won’t get a lot of good reviews and if it’s a disaster, the reviewers will be brutal. If you ask me, it’s all up to the audience how good a show/movie/performance is, because even though movies or tv shows may get bad reviews from critics, they can still be very successful because their audience likes them regardless.
That is very true. six years ago, my sister and I watched the series premieres of Killjoys and Dark Matter back to back. We both liked Killjoys, but only I liked Dark Matter. Later, we went onto Rotten Tomatoes and the general audience and reviewers agreed that Killjoys was good, but a lot of people disliked Dark Matter. If you actually go to Rotten Tomatoes, the reviews are generally the same now as they were then: Killjoys season 1 has an 82% whereas Season 1 of Dark Matter has a 68%.
Being professional is not the same thing as complaining about one person in this particular manner. And why couldn't rory have just apologized instead of going back to being insulting and trying to justify herself?
What I really would have like to have seen is a scene where after this happened Rory and her roommates talking about it, mainly because I’d love to hear Paris’s response to Rory’s review.
I meaaan I think Rory was out of line in a lot of scenes from Gilmore Girls, but if you pay to go to a ballet and it sucks you are allowed to critizise it. I don't have to be a professional singer to know when someone sings off key. If you think you are good enough to perform in front of others, you should be able to handle critique. If this is too harsh for you, go hug a dolphin :D
I agree, Rory probably shouldn't have compared her to a hippo as she could take it as fat shaming, but she did pay and it wasn't good, I don't care how long you've been dancing or where you're on the waiting list, if your performance was bad, then she is allowed to criticize it.
I agree with what you said to an extent. I can understand Rory criticizing the ballerina's dancing as she did slip and fall and kicked the male ballerina in the "nutcracker" as lorelai said, but she was too harsh with the comments about her weight
@@rbriggs89 well did she really think that or wasnt it bc a) Lorelai said so or b) Dyole said Rory's writing was boring? she WAS mean a lot of times for someone who's so "polite" and "shy." it's the quiet ones you gotta watch out for!
Rory body shaming Sandra was in no way okay but if Sandra wants to make it professionally she's going to need thicker skin than this. Essentially stalking and then confronting someone who gave you a bad review for what sounds like a bad performance is not going to do her any favors and will actively hurt her career. Also, if Sandra is on the Juilliard waitlist, what the hell is she studying at Yale??
Body shaming is horrible but otherwise Sandra doesn’t sound\look like a professional dancer, she has as much grace as Paris has. It sounds like no one ever has told her yet she is not good and she had the money to keep doing it. “Hug a dolphin another day” honestly Paris had some of the best lines
My favorite was when the girl asked if it was raining and she responded by "No it's national baptism day. Tie your tunes idot." LMAO
