Hi Chris. I recently purchased 40 acres of forested land. Most people would think that it is healthy but I, as an arborist, immediately see the risks. Unfortunately decades ago the land was clear cut. Now all of the trees are the same age and too tightly packed. I am going to selectively remove many of them to attempt to create an old growth forest that is more resilient to beetle and fire. I also have a seasonal wash that was dug out as a cattle watering hole. I believe this to be a great opportunity to enhance not only my property but the wildlife on my neighbors property, the national forest service. Unfortunately water engineering is not my greatest strength although I am not completely ignorant. I would love to work with people who have a passion for the environment to leave my property better than I found it. Contact me if you are interested or have any advice.
