Ok so the story behind Magic Earring Ken was while doin market research they found a lot of ppl saying Ken wasn't as cool or dressed lame. So they went to clubs to see what trendy, young men were wearing since the club scene/aesthetic was becoming more popular. These clubs were of course gay clubs of the time but the folks doing research were clueless heterosexuals who didn't know what certain accessories meant. So the intention was not to make Ken "gay" but cooler. I think they did a good job considering how well the sales were lol
and if they had the guy version and girl version outfits, if they did a trixie, the guy version could be a button-up with jeans and the girl version could have an included wig and prob some sort of wester fringy dress. now makeup idk, maby a water reveil thing
I have 2 barbies that are collectable from the year i was born. The millenium doll and the sydney olympics doll. My mom bought 2 Sydney ones cause she knew id want to get into it. 😂 i just thought they were custom when i was little bc of my name LOL
Some of the Barbie collector dolls even recently are incredible. I’ve been trying to get my hands on the Athena doll from like 2014??? Resells for $300 right now. I used to also collect a stupid amount of Monster High Dolls. I have dolls from the 1st wave launch and my Lagoona Blue sells for like $500.

I'm dating myself, but the original Shave Magic Ken was in the late 70's or came out in 1980. He wore some jogging shorts and not much else. He came with a washable magic marker to draw on his beard. There was a little "razor" blade shaved made out of black sponge. You dipped it in warm water to "shave off" his "beard". I think he had real hair too. Super Star Barbie and Christie fought over him. I was already doing the interracial swirl couple then. Hmmm, says a lot about my dating, now married life !!😂😂😂

OMG YES! As a boy in a conservative family I would never the allowed to have barbies, so when I saw this Ken I somehow convinced my mom that I should get that because was not a doll was an "action-figure" and that would teach me how to shave because the Ken came with a shaving kit. When she started playing with the boom box and said “here we go -“ I’m SO disappointed she didn’t continue with “IM ROXXXY ANDREWS AND IM HERE TO MAKE IT CLEAR”
OMG I remember the Totally Hair Barbie as if it happened a year ago. EVERY GIRL from my classroom had one, my neighbors had one... my mom wouldn’t let me have a Barbie so I had Kens instead, as if it were less gay 🤣
Junior Casemiro I don’t know what it is, but all the people I knew (including myself) who had TH Barbie...IMMEDIATELY gave her a haircut. Usually an unflattering pixie crop with bald spots 😂😂😂 why are kids like that?! 😩😭
I totally had all the McDonald's Barbie toys. I was obsessed with the ballerina ones lol EDIT: My mom was obsessed with anything Western and she got me all the Western themed Barbies from the 90s. I had a bunch of older Barbies handed down to me from my cousin, but I had so many of the iconic 90s Barbies, this installment of your series is giving me life
I had so many of these. I’m deeply offended that “Hot Skatin’ Barbie” didn’t make your list. Skintight neon 90s printed catsuit, snap on rollerblades AND ice skates, fully jointed body! It’s a good thing I’m Covid-broke and can’t go snatch one up off eBay, but you better be adding Barbie and Midge to your collection.
I was waiting for Rollerblade Barbie to show up! What's more iconic than a Barbie that was recalled because somehow they thought giving her skates that shoot out actual sparks was a safe idea
I’m getting a little actual anxiety that we’re going to run out of decades at some point! You need to already be working on what comes *NEXT* after this series. We’re all the way here for it and we don’t even know what it is yet.💘
I had a few of those Barbies but for some reason, the earrings Barbie is the one I remember the most clearly. I played with it constantly. This really brought me back.
I'm a kid of the 90's and I LOVED my Barbies. My favorite was one of the most boring line of dolls, Tropical Splash but I honestly didn't care. I had a Teresa doll. She was the only Latina (like me) and I love her and her big ass earrings.
For me it's preaches n cream and the glow in the dark gown in pink with the stars from the 80s. The bring me comfort to think about. I'll probably melt in place the day I hold them in my hand again. I get you Trixie. This collection u have is so wonderful
I enjoy seeing all the different Barbies and hearing your personal stories. I would love more videos. And do you not collect Barbies from the 2000s and 2010s? I’m interested to see if you like the modern ones.
I’m having a traumatic flashback. I was a child of the 90s & I think I had “Totally Hair Barbie” because I remember the dress & Dep. But there was another Barbie called “Cut and Style Barbie” who came with hair extensions that velcroed to the back of her head. The idea was “play hair salon, but it’s okay because she has more long hair!” & I think I may have confused the two and I might have chopped all the hair of Totally Hair Barbie... As an adult who loves pop culture and kitch, I’M CRINGING at the fact I may have scalped a Barbie that is now a collectable.
I also had “Cut and Style Barbie” and 7 year old me managed to give her a bald patch on day 1! A few years later she got a full buzz cut and I transitioned her into a Ken lol
*the girls who tried to murder barbie, but ultimately got chopped to pieces and hidden under the floorboards in barbies dream house after Mattel shut them down? Or do you mean the Bratz that basically lost popularity after the 00s ended?

OMG I remember the Totally Hair Barbie as if it happened a year ago. EVERY GIRL from my classroom had one, my neighbors had one... my mom wouldn’t let me have a Barbie so I had Kens instead, as if it were less gay 🤣
Junior Casemiro I don’t know what it is, but all the people I knew (including myself) who had TH Barbie...IMMEDIATELY gave her a haircut. Usually an unflattering pixie crop with bald spots 😂😂😂 why are kids like that?! 😩😭
Maybe show the dolls you own that aren’t Barbies? I’m sure each one of those would have a story behind it since you’re mostly a Barbie collector
Oh yes, i have some non Barbie gems!!!
It's criminal that these are 10 minutes long, I want so much more
I totally had all the McDonald's Barbie toys. I was obsessed with the ballerina ones lol
EDIT: My mom was obsessed with anything Western and she got me all the Western themed Barbies from the 90s. I had a bunch of older Barbies handed down to me from my cousin, but I had so many of the iconic 90s Barbies, this installment of your series is giving me life
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage...”Melanoma Brown”
That's exactly what I thought! 🤣🤣
That really is a good name...
The only notifications I have are Trixie and the guy that sells me my drugs.
Priorities.
You are living right 👍🏻
Lol
I love that
But are you sure they aren't the same person. Have you ever seen them together in the same room?
Katya, is that you?
trixie’s makeup is like,,how my dolls looked after i scribbled on them. but make it fashion.
Accurate AF. Looking like the lady from Drew Carey Show
That’s how you wished your dolls looked momma
You dont like it why do u watch
Lynn Smith i love her with my entire heart lmao i was just making a joke
Lol all I had were crayons so imagination was on fleek lmao lmao lmao
OMG I had that little boom box, the music brought me back!
I NEED MORE OF THIS SERIES AAAAAAAAAAAA
I’m getting a little actual anxiety that we’re going to run out of decades at some point! You need to already be working on what comes *NEXT* after this series.
We’re all the way here for it and we don’t even know what it is yet.💘
this is the last vid:/
Kate I’m sure she has way more Barbies from each decade, she has 100s of them!
Trixie I could listen to you talk about dolls and how much they mean to you and your childhood for ever.....great depth of knowledge. Xxxx
I want a "getting drunk and opening my vintage barbies" video
This yesterday, this tomorrow, this forever, THIS needs to happen people!!!!
I would drink while watching too!
i don’t know why this makes me so happy. you can tell just how much she loves these dolls and it’s just making me so :))
The Pearl and Kennedy impressions are iconic!!!
I had a few of those Barbies but for some reason, the earrings Barbie is the one I remember the most clearly. I played with it constantly. This really brought me back.
I really hope you do 2000's, that would be a nostalgic dream
I love that Trixie has two gay Kens and doesn’t think he’s gay. Like girl have you been to San Francisco that’s a gay man
I'm a kid of the 90's and I LOVED my Barbies.
If you don't dabble in the 2000's era with y2k barbies you'll be dealt with
I’m having a traumatic flashback. I was a child of the 90s & I think I had “Totally Hair Barbie” because I remember the dress & Dep. But there was another Barbie called “Cut and Style Barbie” who came with hair extensions that velcroed to the back of her head. The idea was “play hair salon, but it’s okay because she has more long hair!”
& I think I may have confused the two and I might have chopped all the hair of Totally Hair Barbie...
@@nakifairy I'm glad he can live his truth now.
Same I had almost all these dolls or their clothes but I sold them all at the flea market for cheap haha well oh well😪
Lmao
Honey I'm a criminal, I used to chew all my barbies' hands and feet, I really regret that now bc I had such cool barbies ; ;
what is trixie's opinion on Bratz
the gurls who murdered Barbie
*the girls who tried to murder barbie, but ultimately got chopped to pieces and hidden under the floorboards in barbies dream house after Mattel shut them down?
Or do you mean the Bratz that basically lost popularity after the 00s ended?
Queen, Bratz are long dead and Barbies still fill shelves, what are you talking about
@@lechitadefrutilla1017
idk i dont see barbie here anymore
@@lechitadefrutilla1017 Barbie's fashion right now tho.. not worth it
