This was a very poorly played game, even by MLS standards. And no one is pretending that the MLS is even close to the Premier League in quality. But the last PL game I watched was Newcastle scoring 8 goals against a defense that was so bad that it would embarrass even most MLS clubs.
Inter Miami needs better defense if they want to do better next season. Also needs Messi in better heath, if not, This Messi miracle might be short lived. Busquets once again had a poor game. NYCFC was running circles around him in the first half just the way Houston did, forcing him to commit foul after foul. Same thing happened to Pirlo, Gerard, Lampard, Matuidi, etc.. They looked good for a time at the beginning until they tired out and became a liability. It was sad to watch their careers end as their old legs simply couldn't keep up with all the youngsters racing right by them. There is a reason MLS clubs stopped bringing over veteran midfielders who are well into their 30´s, no matter how illustrious their careers. Goal scoring forwards like Villa, Keane, Henry, and Zlatan can be very successful in MLS. Midfielders not so much. Let them go to Saudi Arabia.
