Thank you for your reaction! Jonghyun was an amazingly talented man. Who fought, but ultimately lost his battle with depression. His voice in any SHINee song is outstanding! He is missed and there will never be anyone who comes close to the talent of this man! Jonghyun, you did well!

ahh jonghyun was incredible and i miss him a lot. he was a very emotionally reactive performer and he'd definitely choose emotion over technique any day, but luckily he was so technically competent it was never an issue. he was in a group called SHINee and they're definitely up there as far as live performances go if you want to look into them. i enjoy password for its simplicity and evil or picasso for high energy (tokyo dome performances are always bigger in scope when you're looking for kpop lives fyi).
However, when it comes to their best "Evil" performances you have to watch the one from their SHINee World Concert 3 in Seoul. There are other versions of this performance, but the Seoul one is by far the best. It has the best camera work, audio and stage of any of their performances of the song. If its not the one from Seoul you are truly missing out. ;D
Milinda Wilson I disagree or I wouldn’t have specified. Obviously every SHINee performance is good because it’s SHINee, but in my opinion the staging for Tokyo is far more interesting from a stage direction perspective, which is something Marc is specifically looking at, and the camera doesn’t cut to a different angle every second (unlike in every single SM artists’ Seoul concert DVDs). Seoul concert filming is very specific and very different from Tokyo recordings and there’s a reason Tokyo’s are generally more popular.
@@zkdltube0114 That's fine. You have your opinion and I have mine. :D Nothing wrong with that. I just wanted to add to the conversation. :D Its just my experience that the reason why a lot of people recommend other versions is because they like the fact that Taemin takes his shirt off for some of them and in this case for the fact that he is analyzing the stage and the vocals, I don't really think that performance is necessarily the best one for him to see. That performance is more of a fan service performance and not a true example of the greatness that is SHINee. However, the Tokyo Dome performance you are referring to is probably a good one as well.

when he says “Hyeya jebal” at the last part.. it pierce through my heart.. it sounds so genuine and pure.. he delivered the emotion just well. listening to this song after what happened.. I really believe it wasn’t just a performance, he really felt it all.. Jonghyun RIP you’re always gonna be remembered and always gonna be loved♥️

This song is a cover/rewrite of Alexandro Sanz's "Y si fuera Ella." Jonghyun's version is called "Hyeya" or "Haeya." but most videos of the performance just call it by the Spanish title. "Haeya" is the girl's name that Jonghyun is singing about that is why its the only word in the English lyrics that isn't translated because there isn't a translation, its a name. Jonghyun heard the Spanish version of this song and loved it so much that he had to make it his own by translating the words into Korean and changing it slightly to make it fit his vision of what the song is about. This was one of Jonghyun's most epic and iconic performances of this song. And it will forever be a symbol of what made him such a great artist. In the performance he felt so passionately about the girl that his heart literally exploded.
Jonghyun was only 19 at the time when he performed this song and it was only a couple of years since his debut, so this just goes to show you how amazing of an artist he really was. His mastery of singing, emotion and stage presence is awe-inspiring. If he was this good so early in his career, just imagine what he was like after more than 10 years in the industry.
Jonghyun is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who is one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun has wrote and composed more than 40 percent of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc., as well as several movie and drama OSTs. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. If you look up Jonghyun's work you will be shocked at the amount of music credits and copyrights under his name. His legacy includes several dozen songs that were wrote and composed by him. Its one of the things that all Shawols hold onto as part the legend that he left behind that we feel is our duty to share with the world in order to keep his memory alive.

no matter how many times I watch to this jonghyun video I will always get goosebumps
For me, Jonghyun's vocals was the best vocals I have ever heard. Not just within Kpop, but all genres. He's mind blowing. I have been a fan of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, etc as I grew up in the 80's. I often feel though that there's too many similar voices in the industry and this is how he stood out to me. This is why he became my #1 singer. He's a legend.

@@rorawol8608 actually he disn't was Kenzie that wrote the lyrics for this song Jonghyun maybe helped like he like to do in any song that he sings and because of the rumour tha Hyeya was ex of him before his debut, this song is from the first full Album in August 2008 only 1 year after Jonghyun wrote his first song for SHINee album was Juliette for EP Romeo in 2009
This performance is just at the begining years of Jonghyun's career. He improved a lot since then.

The manager was a big fan of Alejandro Sanz and he loved the song and wanted to do it, he commission Kenzie to write it and got Jonghyun who was only 20 to sing it, they couldn't write it as the original which is a poem they did it literal the original is less down than this version but they couldn't translate the Spanish, Kenzye said it in a book in Korean about writing songs.

This is one of my top favorite performances from Jonghyun. His voice just gives me chills everytime, the softness to his intense facial expressions, it shows how much this song impacted him. His whole body was performing and that’s something Jonghyun does so well.
That's the kind of artist he was. He gave everything all he had in every moment. I was appreciating his work before he left this world and I often wonder...wow what else could he have done? He was brilliant. He lives on through his work.
This was great, the fact that jonghyun is able to express all those emotions is heartbreaking. Another great song of him is Before our Spring and End of a day 😊🤗

I was like how this reaction is almost 18 minutes long? Worth very moment! Thanks for your reaction. Jonghyun was so into the character of his song. He wrote his lyrics at the age of 18. Another performance from him "Crazy" in Tokyo was expectational too. He changed into this extremely dominating and wild character. The look on his face was so sharp. And of course his singing was excellent. "Crazy" would have been a stereo type pop song, but Jonghyun's performance made a huge difference.
The original song of Alejandro Sanz is called "Y si fuera ella" (If it was her) lyric wise is different, I like better this version.
The original is more like someone than moved on but still remember and still love the other woman so he wonder if somehow the new person in his life is similar and also afraid to confuse her with her old love. This version is more about of "Don't leave cause I going to die without you" song.
In every EXO song I feel the emotions. Their music literally saved my life many times when depression made me think to stop all.
Shinee are EXO's big brother's so I am very thankful to them, because they did open up the road, just like other generations did before them, and how EXO did for newest generations like NCT.
Many call kpop industry a manufacturing machine and that idols are fake, while forgetting than western society do the same just a lower quality.
Idols fight very hard to become what they are and arrive where they are, and not admitting that it cheapens the effort and all the obstacles they went though. All the critics can go their way and they are just humans under a lot of pressure, and sometimes they break.
And just like this beautiful Angel the world loose one of the most beautiful voices it could ever dream to have.

Jonghyun studied music a lot. I believe he had a masters degree in it. Over the years he changed how he sung. He experimented a lot.
If you watch more live performances of Jonghyun and SHINee you’ll see he always sang with emotion.

Back again to watch this...and to cry 😭 I appreciate your reaction to Jonghyun so much because I feel you really understand the essence of who he was (and still is even though he isn’t physically with us anymore). To me, he is pure emotion, whether good or sad (never bad). His death is still haunting....he would be 30 this year...RIP angel 👼

Yesssssss! Please do react to elevator by Jonghyun, but I highly recommend at least skimming the lyrics beforehand if you choose not to watch a lyrics video because I truly believe that it completely changes the entire experience, it makes it so much more personal especially in this case. The lyrics are so... simple yet they really strike a chord within, they've made me breakdown everytime I read them, it makes me tear up everytime it's one of my absolute favourite songs of all time 🖤
You should definitly check out more of Jonghyun! He was simply phenomenal.
Also I recommend checking out SHINee (The live performance's kings), There's a lot to see and be shocked by. But for starters, I think 'Evil' and 'Stranger' would be a great kickoff. Then if you want to see more... 'excuse me miss' and 'like a fire' is also amazing once.

My beautiful Jonghyun, he had always been a great artist, performer, writer, a poet and a song writer. he was so pure, honest, sweet and loving. he had always put people first and used his voice to speak for those who couldn't speak for themselves. Jonghyun was, is and will always be such an amazing and unique person, no one and nothing can ever replace him. Sometimes, i find it hard to know that this beautiful human being is no longer here, and that we'll never see him in a lifetime. i wish he didn't leave, i wish he was saved, i wish he knew how much he was loved and that he was more than enough and that he still is. may his pure soul rest in peace.

I surprisly teared up a lot more than I expected. Besides the fact that he's an angel now, the emotions of this performance shot me right through the heart. He's singing right from his heart. He has always had a huge soft heart. Thank you for reacting to his performance. It means a lot since you're opinion is valid because you studied your profession. Jonghyun has been praised a lot by other reactor's that are either studied vocal, music etc. Jonghyun is one of the rarest diamond that ever existed.
Shinee is a second Kpop generation group and one of the best at performing. I wish you'd react to Shinee's Evil (World III performance), Stranger(SWC4 in Seoul) and Taemin's (Shinee member)- solo stage (Shinee World 2016, Tokyo dome).

I'm really thankful I've just come across your reaction to one of my favorite singers. He looked so committed with the song because he wrote the lyrics of this Korean version. I'm almost sure he put his own life experiences and feelings into it. That's why even though this might seem just like a mere performance, it actually looked so real. He said in numerous occasions that his songs were for him like his children, and that way I can see that a great part of his heart was put in every one of his works. Kim Jonghyun was one of the most inspiring and touching singers. I'm just so proud of having gotten to know him as a fan. I'm pretty sure tag even if we can't see him physically. His songs will still remain as a reminder of how great he still is.
I truly and sincerely am wishing that this reaction video had been made so much earlier, that Jonghyun had found it, and had watched it, and never second guessing himself, that if anything, this video was the moment for him, that it would help him when he was seriously blaming himself for his shortcomings that were ALL ONLY IN HIS HEAD. His fans, even you, believe, KNOW that he is one amazing, unique, one of a kind performer. He's one of those performers that cannot be replicated, but he did not see his own superpower. I regret not saying more affirmation words for him to read and believe... he is irreplaceable. But I'm glad his legacy lives on through other wonderful and talented artists who treasure his works and art and rendition them themselves, his legacy will live on through the voices of beautiful artists. He has not only done well, he has done wonderful, beautiful and whenever I think of him, there is only happiness. I miss him so much. There will not be another performer like him anymore.. The halls will feel half empty because his voice literally fills up half of the space due to his crazy improvisation every time. I've seen him perform live twice, so it is no longer the same without him. But SHINee even as physically 4 is so amazing. They will honor Jjong by continuing his passion.

I've always thought the technique issue was one of Jonghyun's strong points - The way he was able to see when using "poor" technique (despite his thorough vocal training) would be better to convey the emotion. Another performance you may enjoy from him is his cover of 'gloomy letter', or for something happier, his performance on the show sugarman.

I just found this, thank you for the reaction to our angel. Jonghyun was amazingly talented in vocal and songwriting skill's. This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. it is truly a favorite of mine. His absence is truly missed in the industry losing his battle with depression in 2017. His group was SHINee and he was lead vocalist, a group of powerhouse singers that paved the way in K-pop setting the bar high from debut, funny, SHINee was an experimental group that shot to the top breaking barriers. There will never be another Jonghyun, he was one of a kind, writing songs for many artists and songs for his group SHINee. His expression of emotion in his writing and performances is phenomenal. You did well Jonghyun our angel and will be missed but not forgotten. SHINee always 5
