Chycho! Thank you for sharing such a unique talent as Will Eisner. You singlehandedly introduced me to the medium of comic books over the last several months. Since then, I've begun a small collection of my own. It has brought me many hours of enjoyment and thought-provoking reading. Keep up the good work my brother! Peace from the great state of New Jersey, USA.

Another great video, a great topic on a great artist. The Donald in Mathmagic land was also great. I really enjoy the alternative comic book readings and discussions you do. Comics and math, two great topics combined with ASMR, what a combo. Thanks Chycho, keep em coming.

A wonderful reading, Chycho...thanks for sharing! As I've recently delved into the world of comics and graphic novels, I was curious as to whether you are a fan of Hellboy/Mignolaverse. I don't recall if you've ever mentioned it, but I can't put the books down. Let me know! Best wishes to you for a wonderful week :)

Hey, Gerry. For sure I've read Hellboy, only the very early stuff though as they were coming out back in the late 80's and early 90's. For some reason I didn't keep up with it but I know that in the comic book world, Mignola's work on Hellboy, Mignolaverse as you call it, is huge. The people that I know who read it are the most dedicated fans I've ever come across in the comic book medium, that and Valaint readers of course.

Ahhh yes, the Valiant series. My wallet is hurting a decent bit due to you getting me hooked on them! I believe I told you in a comment a ways back, but I worked my way through Archer & Armstrong and Bloodshot. So good. I have the deluxe edition of Bloodshot: Reborn headed my way in the mail as we speak. Also read Divinity and The Valiant - very good. X-O and Rai are up next :D

Chycho! Great video as always! I wanted to ask you, could show what kind of frame do you use for your comic books hanging on the wall? How do you do it?
    Greetings from Germany

      Hi Rico, salutations from Canada.
As for the frames, I picked up a whole bunch of them that people I knew were getting rid of. They are all wooden and had prints in them. I've actually put together three videos on framing them, here they are if you want to take a closer look. Two have me talking about them and one is silent.
      Framing Comics: Daredevil #1: ua-cam.com/video/tMYgI2NDjaM/v-deo.html
Framing Comics: Mystic #6 and Punch #14 (no talking): ua-cam.com/video/8mww1lVAxtk/v-deo.html
      Framing Comics: Primer #2 and #5: ua-cam.com/video/N15bFNftUQY/v-deo.html

I am from Europe and comics were issued as 'albums' very early on, I believe ? For me the single format was really strange, apart from the weekly Donald Duck magazine that is. ( the Donald Duck magazine is still the most popular of all the magazines here in the Netherlands).
I was ten when i read my first Batman and Spider-Man comics (in Dutch).

Funny you should mention Donald Duck, that's going to be our next reading. As always, peace from Canada :)

Kind of bizarre cover layout: his name takes up almost half the front page and the title of the piece is barely even readable. Also, why is his name written in walt diseny font? lol

    • @chycho
      @chycho  7 років тому +4

lol... I think for most people the selling point was Will Eisner not the story. As far as I know everything he has done is on this level, brilliant.
As for his name, I pretty sure that's the way he signed his name on his work, and knowing Disney, they probably copied Eisner and called it Disney font and stuck a copyright on it so that no one could use it again... and on that note, our next reading will actually be a Disney book :)

Oh man I can't believe you lived with cockroaches Chych! That's brutal man, I wouldn't be able to close my eyes, I'd probably set the place on fire.

lol... there are times in your life that you will do things that you would never do again in retrospect, especially if you could afford not to. It was well worth it though and they were amazing times :)
