It brings back a memory of a FBS baby that a seller was selling for $4000 a few years ago...the baby had a finger missing done by a so called Baby sitter plus it had hair but the seller didnt like the hair he had was a custom too so she pulled it out! Thankfully I decided not to buy! I have been a a Reborn Collector /Silicone for over 20 yrs too! Before the Internet came on the scene!! Am 67 now!
Hi Kelly! I am fairly new to collecting reborns myself. I was given one by a friend about 15 years ago, but couldn't actually afford to get into collecting then. My nursery is growing now, especially in the past 2 months lol! I've seen some videos where the artist has stretched out fingers to show how soft the silicone is or just tossed the baby around like a sack of potatoes and it ALWAYS bothers me so much { I mean I literally cringe when I see it}. These ARE pieces of art and should be treated with respect and care. I love to hold and cuddle my babies as they bring me alot of comfort, but I also take care of them with respect as to cleaning or dressing, their hair being properly taken care of. I devour videos of these babies to learn learn learn. I found your video to be very informative and I truly thank you for that! I hope you have a very blessed and happy day hon
I have collected dolls for 50 years. Played with them for 10 yrs before that! 😂 I got into the Reborns because I was amazed at the ART! The realism blew me away. The talent of these sculptors…..artist who painted them….the shading, the veins, the creases. I also love depression glass….Paintings…. I would not purchase any piece of art that I know had been mishandled. I appreciate knowing the history of the pieces I purchase so I can understand their strengths or weaknesses. I will say that I truly enjoy holding my reborns. Some are displayed, but some are my evening cuddle bugs! I love the feeling of a good weighted floppy newborn reborn. They are calming for me. I totally agree with you. Sadly…..some need a warning label. Buyer Beware. Have a great week.
These dolls are such a large investment. They shouldn’t be mistreated, however not everyone takes care of things to our standards. I think it’s good to bring things like that to light. I mean the topics that fly around UA-cam and you calling this out is a “trouble maker” is actually a joke 😂. Regardless this is your platform and you are extremely informative in this hobby. Just keep on doing what you are doing. I gave my own opinions about the artists recently which isn’t very friendly, but I still acknowledged this is fine art and needs to be treated as such. Xoxo 😘

Thats actually kind of disturbing 😳 I dont think your being mean or rude. I have a rather small channel, but i feel the same in that i have collected artist dolls for over 25 yrs. Ive gotten my share of damaged dolls, nasty smelling dolls, dolls without certificates etc etc. So i know the questions to ask and what to watch for when purchasing a doll, especially second hand. So i try to be informative and truthful on my videos so that newer collectors know what to ask and also where to go when looking for an authentic doll... My first reborns were Berenguer dolls in 2000. They were very Realistic.

This is so ridiculous. If you're worried about getting a "mistreated" doll, then don't buy second hand dolls. The origins of the "hobby"? Sorry but unless you keep your dolls behind glass or on a shelf to just admire them, everyone uses these dolls for therapeutic reasons. You're just not aware of it. Why are you changing your doll? Why do you buy clothes and baby gear for your doll? Respect for "seasoned collectors"? 😂 Good Christ. The only educational videos you should be making are how to find legitimate dolls and how to care for a silicone. Anything else, not your concern. End of story. Ask yourself why seeing someone handle a doll aggressively triggered you. That's the point I'd like to see you get to.

No one should be upset with you, all points you stated are correct. The video was shocking, I personally found it to be disrespectful to the particular sculptor who pours so much of her heart into her work,the doll definitely looked a bit rough, I would never in a million years want to purchase a doll from her knowing how she treats them (i've watched numerous of her videos and they are all kind of thrown around and a young child uses them as their toys). The video was made for shock value and thus she got the reactions she wanted and shouldn't be upset. I thought it was done in poor taste...period.
You asked a question so I'll answer... You're a troublemaker. Why would you feel the need to take it upon yourself to inform the reborn community of dolls that are being "mistreated"? If I'm in the market of purchasing a high-end doll (or anything for that matter) and I don't do my own due diligence, as a buyer that's on me. Your lil video won't likely even land with the correct purchaser should this hypothetical sale ever happen. You just like hearing yourself talk. But hey that's why you're on UA-cam bc you said it yourself its not for the views or for money. And you certainly don't allow for a difference of opinions as you turn off comments, hide comments and or debate differing opinions. If you truly are as unfazed as you like to portray then why do you even bother replying to the comments that don't align with your opinions? Comments stay posted unless people are disrespectful or if the commenter deletes it on their own. It seems as though you didn’t actually watch my whole video or simply didn’t bother to listen or you would have heard me answer the questions you pose here. I clearly say that experience has taught me that sellers who have treated their collectible dolls poorly never tend to disclose such information when selling said doll. It’s happened to me multiple times in the past no matter how much due diligence was done which was why I brought this up in the first place……buyer beware and even then you could still end up with a problematic doll.
