Dude, I can't tell you how many times I have gone back to this. And you just saved me a ton of cash. I replaced my light and somehow, by just turning off and on the breakers a few times (once before letting it 'set'), it wiped everything out and I thought I shorted out my whole system. Anyway, it all makes sense when I do it and when something happens by the next year or two, I have forgotten everything. So, I thought I was screwed, laid down to take a nap and it hit me like a bolt...I shot up and ran to the computer and we are up and running...SUMMER AND WALLET SAVED!!!!!

This was very helpful! Installation tech took about 5 minutes running through the basic functions. He said that a majority of the functions "didn't apply to my pool" or "should only be adjusted by a pool professional." Obviously that wasn't the case. Thanks for enlightening all of us.

Great video! One question I had is that my heat pump was not recognized. What do I need to do to get the Aqualink to communicate with my heat pump. It is the single heat source for both the spa and pool.
Hi there Becky, if it is a Jandy Heat pump, connect it with the red 4 pin connector. If not, connect a low voltage wire from the fireman switch in the heat pump to the green 1 and 2 pins in the aqualink. Hope this helps!
I just retrofit an Aqualink PS4 automation system in lieu of my older Hayward Aqualogic sysyem. So the Hayward now only functions as the chlorination system and sub-panel breaker panel. All other functions now are controlled by the Jandy. I'm trying to understand all the program options especially as it relates to the Jandy VSP FloPro pump. So what I've done is used the speed setup page for the VSP to simply run the filtration pump at a programmable speed (1750 RPM) and then programming a slower speed (1450 rpm) to run at night. Additionally, I've programmed speeds for the Cleaner so that when activated the booster pump goes on and the filtration pump goes to a slightly higher speed to assist in cleaning. Same for the "slide" when pressed the pump goes up to an RPM required to run the slide. This seems to work all just fine and appears a little more simplified then the programming in your video. I've also programmed the Heater PRM slightly higher too. Some debate over heater RPM some say higher to warm the pool quicker some say slower to make the water outflow temp higher?? Not sure which if either is true.
FInally, the Hayward Color lights. I simply wired the light to the AUX 3 and choose the Hayward light option in the system setup and that seems to work the light just fine. I was wondering why in your video you programmed all the different light types to an AUX unless this was for demonstration purposes only??

This is a great video,thanks for the setting aside the time.i haven't programed a jandy system in 10 plus yrs,i have been doing hayward and pentair,This answered a few questions esp the actuator shut down feature. For the one touch feature I have spa heater and spa,thats the correct way to have the heater come on automaticly when put in spa mode correct? i ask cause the raypay heater dont have the remote 7 pin harness and im looking for on or will make my own for the customer.
Hey there! Thanks for watching! If it’s a pool/spa combo. You can program a OneTouch to turn the full spa on in one button. RayPak heaters should have the fireman switch(also known as a pool/spa/comm) to control the heater through an Aqualink. Just connect those 2 wires to the 1 and 2 pins on the green 10 pin and that should automate the heater.

Great video, thank you! Question I have an iaqualink with aqua pure. In status it shows offline & percent 0.When it is actually set to generate 80% for pool & 25% for spa. Only when I boost the salt does status show it active? What am I doing wrong?
Sounds like maybe a board issue somewhere. Either the salt system or the Aqualink board

if you forgot the lockout passcode, you may have to clear the memory of the entire aqualink and start over. The clear memory option is in the system setup.

Awesome video for new iAquaLink owners - thanks! A favorite learning for me was the Temp Calibrate feature to adjust the temp setting - I thought I had a bad temp gauge. Any idea if Jandy TruClear will be supported in the app the same way the Jandy AquaPure salt chlorinator system is today? Thanks again!
Yes the Jandy TruClear does work the same. Wire it in with the 4 pin connector and it will read online. Hope this helps!

Amazing video! I have a new IntelliFlow 3 and IAquaLink. The problem I have is that I set up the IntelliFlow through the app and set the schedule and Programs with the speed or Flow and now the iAquaLink won't control the IntelliFlow 3. How can I set up the IntelliFlow 3 so I can still see it on the app but be managed by the IAquaLink?

Question.. At what percent should I set my Pool AquaPure salt system (system was just installed 2 months ago). I currently have it set at 75%. Thank you in advance!
Hello Miguel, most salt systems work at a 10 Min cycle. When you adjust it to 75% it will chlorinate for 7:30 and attempt to reverse polarity and clean itself for 2:30. Salt cells have a lifespan of a certain amount of hours of runtime. So the more % you run it, the faster you will need to replace the cell. However, the catch22 is that your pool will require you to run it at a certain % to maintain that free chlorine level.
So my short answer would be, if you are maintaining a 3-5ppm chlorine level in your pool when the system is on 75%, you have adjusted the salt system correctly. I would always recommend starting lower, then working your way back up to see what you can get away with.

Man I wish I had found this video years ago. 1 question if you are taking questions still. I am trying to change my polarity time change intervals on my truclear salt cell and I am locked out of the Truclear control panel because I have the iAqualink. Extremely hard water where I am at. How do I adjust that via the app.

So how to activate Salt to Iaqualink? Model APUREM Aqua Pure, is connected to it but doesn't read in the app. Jandy PLC1400 salt cell. when I try to connect it to app get "AquaPure not found. Check AquaPure RS485 and power connections."

I’ve turned on the system from standby to chlorinate 50% for now. How do I get it so I can see it on my app?

I’m confused. I have solar and a gas heater. If I set it to heat to say 85, it doesn’t get to 85 u less the solar is off. Shouldn’t the solar “give up” and switch to heater when the solar can’t get it warm enough in its own? Similarly, wouldn’t it be more efficient to have the water flow through the solar and then into the heater? That way, the heater would only have to raise the temperature from a higher point?
Hello, the gas should shut off when the pool gets to temp then do a solar priority assuming all the dip switches, controls, and sensors are installed correctly. Please make sure to go to the user’s manual on the Aqualink and read all about how the solar sensors/valves/priorities work. The water is supposed to go through the solar first, the heat pump second(if you have a heat pump), then finally the last step is the gas heater< you are correct on that. Hope this helps!

I have a problem with my Jandy Aqualink RS running Spillover mode.
When I run pool mode and spa mode, my Jandy actuators complete their movement before the pump turns on, but when the spillover mode runs ( Din switch #3 on ), the pump turns on before the actuator valves have completed their movement - pump starts running while the actuators are still moving. How to I set up spillover mode so the pump won’t turn on until the actuators have completed their movement.
Pool mode and spa mode work fine, actuators finish moving before pump turns on.
Spillover mode, pump turns on before the actuators complete their movement.

I currently have a Jandy ePump that is set as the Filter Pump. I want to program it to run at different speeds at different times of the day. How do I do that? The Aux 1 in the system I'm working on is the Booster Pump for the Polaris cleaner.

@J M I just got a Jandy ePump a couple of days ago, and the installer put in only two speeds, and I tried going into my Aqualink app and now it is stuck on only low speed. Did you get help at that phone number or found some other video?
can you have the lights turn on and set to a color, or is it always white?
You would have to purchase a multicolor light in order to accomplish that. You may only have a white light that will not color change. Hope this helps!

I can’t figure out how to choose multiple days in a schedule.
I can choose weekends, weekdays, or any single day, but I can’t, for example, program a schedule to run on Mon, Wed, and Fri. It only lets me choose one day.

How do you "unprogram" or delete a colored light aux button, and reprogram it to a basic white light? (Our old multi-colored bulb never landed on the right color, so we went back to a standard white bulb. Now it blinks on and off, searching for the color.)

Hey guys your videos are great so thank you. I just had one question. Whenever I put it into spa mode and the spa turns on and the heater turns on and the blower turns on it runs great but then when I turn it off and the actuators turn and then the pool pump comes back on it seems to stay in spa mode and that fan on the heater just runs and runs. It's like I can't get it to switch back to pool mode only back and forth. Any advice?
Hi there. There is a delay. Aqualink has a heater cool down that takes about 5 min. Make sure that after 5 min, everything goes back to normal. If not, may need to call Zodiac Tech Support 800-822-7933. Hope this helps!

The basic issue is that every time I run the spa then I turn it off and wait out the delay and turn everything off afterwards and go to bed The next time I turn the pool on even though I don't turn the spa or heater on the heater comes on. It's every single time and I can't figure it out but it's probably my fault haha

How do I know which JVA I am assigning? I have 3 , 1- switches from pool jets to spa jets,1- turns on the slide water and 1- turns on 2 fish fountains that spit into the pool.
Right now it’s programmed for “spa mode” so if I turn that on the JVa’s all turn, but what if I just want to turn on the fish and nothing else? Or my kids go in and just want the slide water turned on? Right now I go to the JVA and flick the switch to get it to open.
We just moved into this house with the new pool and system, I’ve been trying to figure this out and watched this video about 10x to try figure this all out, great video thanks.
Titan Mike XD, if you have a pool/spa combo, the intake and return jva's are already pre programmed to turn when spa mode is activated. These cannot be have an override due to the fact they are locked out in programming when there is a pool/spa combo. However, if dip switch #3 on the board is pressed in, Spillover will automatically turn into AUX 3. As for cleaner and solar JVA. You can go into JVA setup in System Setup, and assign those to whatever aux you want them to work. However, you can only assign 1 jva to 1 aux. Hope this helps and is not too complicated.
Is it possible to slow down the Spa Blower? I have a small Spa and a Jandy PSB110. The power of the Blowers blow too hard. Water spews out of the spa and the splash is so large its uncomfortable to be in.
Sometimes if you prime up the blower then turn it off. That will still siphon air through. If that doesn’t work. You may have to install a tee with a ball valve to slow down the air blower and divert the air somewhere else. Option 3: but a weaker air blower.
Perhaps, you can assist how to get set aqua pure to work? When I click the icon, it reads aqua pure not found. Check aqua pure RS 485 and power connections. I Aqualink advised a hard reset and to no avail have I had success. Please, can you advise what to do now?

Hello, hoping you can help. I just had my pool done in August. I have one line that goes to a manual jandy valve and then split to both my sheer decent and bubbler. I have an automated Jva actuator for my sheer decent. The issue is when I have my sheer decent off the bubbler shoots too hight so I have to choke the manual valve to about 25%. Then when I turn on my sheer decent using the app I still have to walk over and manually turn he manual valve up for my sheer decent to work right. I see you mentioned a smart jva in the app and can adjust in percentages. Is that just a valve that replaces the manual one or something else?
Hi there, a smart JVA is a device that automatically programs a JVA to turn a certain percentage. It is an aftermarket board. However, if you buy a intellivalve from Pentair, most of that functionality of caming a system is built it. Hope this helps!

follow-up question, if i may, please....i have the jandy LED Watercolors lights (new) and when i select those in the web program, they're not turning on and off quickly enough to change colors. Yet when i change to pentair intellibrite, they DO turn on and off quickly enough to change colors, but the color pattern is off (obviously) since they're jandy lights. Any idea why the programming would be different/not working when i select the correct lights? only work around i have now is to not assign them as color and change color manually, but that's not ideal. Thanks!!!!
That is very very odd… the programming is a timed interval set by Jandy. I would call Fluidra (Zodiac) and see if they can send a representative to your house or take a look at your programming remotely. (800) 822-7933

Freeze protectIon turns items on at the temp set point, but why doesn’t it turn it off once the temp gets back above set point?
It in fact does. We don't know the exact temperature that it shuts back off but it is well above the actual freezing temp set point. Hope this helps!

hi there, a very detailed video, but however i try to log into iaqualink either with the app or on a laptop it always comes up waiting to connect even though on the main screen it says iaqualink connected and operating, i have reset iaqualink and reconneted to 2.4 wifi but still no joy
Usually a power cycle will fix this issue, may need to contact Zodiac on this one. 1 (800) 822-7933
When my phone goes to black if I am not fast enough in Aqualink it gets stuck in "waiting for connection." I go outside and flip the circuit breaker for Aqualink, wait about 30 seconds, and flip it back on and that fixes it.
Hey, on the Jandy system can you set the pool pump for let’s say Monday from 8-1 and the Tuesday from 12-5? Or do they all have to be the same time everyday?

I have a PS RS4, light, booster pump, and blower to my aux 1-3. I’m out of Aux “slots”, but still have the cleaner JVA spot free. Can I put in a 4th JVA to divert another valve? How would I control it if so?
You can use the extra aux feature. Extra aux is actually tied into the solar relay. So if you need another relay, plus it into solar relay on the board, then the command Extra Aux will turn that on and off. Hope this helps!
I have one Intelliflo VS Pump for my Spool which I obviously assigned to filtration. I heard you say you like to set your RPMs high and you set yours at 3400 from 2500...what is the advantage of doing so?
Thanks for responding. Every pool system is different so it may or may not work specifically for your system but the advantage is to get your in-floor cleaning system or pool cleaner dialed in so that way you can receive optimum performance from these systems.

How do I delete the unused temp 1 or temp 2 and Aux 3 and Aux 4 buttons on the home screen In the iAquaLink app so my home owner doesn't get confused
Hi there, unfortunately no there is not way to remove it them. However, at 26.12 in the video we walk you through how to set up a lockout so that way the homeowner cant touch it. Hope this helps!
Where did this software GUI come from? I have an iAquaLink setup (v4.0.3) and the interface is much simpler looking (and lousy) with only the most basic functions available. This one looks MUCH more comprehensive and programmable. Thanks!
Greg Blanchette -If you have an RS System, you will push the Web button in the upper right-hand corner and turn your iPhone, or tablet, or other smart device sideways and then you will have this GUI. If your automation aqua link system is a Z4, then you do not have this GUI.
This software comes with the newest revision. If you want to be able to use this feature, we recommend getting the IQ20-RS.
any chance you have a tutorial that has the basic info like pool filtration? I'd like to know the best way to run my VSP pool filter, but this doesn't really address that. A variable speed pump is supposed to save me money, but it just runs at the same speed for 6 hours and turns off. So no variation in speed. So
that doesn't really save me any money does it??? And, I'd like to know how to vacuum my pool. My filtration doesn't seem to have enough suction to keep the vacuum on the end of the hose. I just want to know how to turn my filter on a high enought speed to vacuum my pool. I don't want to schedule this, I just want to be able to turn it on somehow so I can vacuum.

Made it very easy to get the overview of how it works and program, the only problem I have is my slide is hooked up to the return JVA and I am trying to figure out how to rename the return JVA to slide or rename any other any other JVA and switch the plug to that, any help would be greatly appreciated.
+Rick Langos unfortunately if you have a spa, you cannot rename the return JVA. That is dedicated to Spa Return. If you have a pool only option you can go into JVA settings and re assign it to a different aux.

Quick question. If you have a schedule that limits the pump from 10am-5pm daily, but you also have Maintain Temp set from 12am-12am every 2 hours (i.e. all the time), does that override the pump schedule, and thus cause the system to check the pool temp every two hours over night AND if found to be low temp, does it kick on the pump and heater on in the middle of the night?
+Mike Alcheck, all of your assumptions are correct! Yes, maintain temp does turn on the pump to check every 2 hours regardless of schedules. It does kick on the heater to raise the temp where it needs to be. It then shuts the heater off when the temperature is met. Then the 2 hours process starts all over again.

I have had this system installed only for about a week, and while I'm pretty sure I've set things up correctly in terms of speeds and schedules, there are just some things that don't seem to make sense to me.
For example, at any point during the pool schedule, if I turn spa mode on, the pump speed ramps up to the spa speed I set. However, when I turn spa mode back off, the pump goes back to the "Pool" speed, no matter what point in the schedule it is in the day. This just seems wrong to me. yea, pool speed is set to work for the default. (speed 1)
Great Video! The only question I have that I didn't see addressed was related to a variable speed pump and heater GPM requirements. (My heater says 50GPM Minimum) For instance, I run my VSP at low speeds normally, but must raise the speed to heat the pool, but the heater is dependent on that speed and not an "Aux" device on the RS controller as it is on the main menu. You have a similar setup shown but I don't believe the normal "Pool Heat" is tied to an Aux. How would you do that?
In the Variable Speed setup, you can adjust the speed by RPM to go to different speeds for pool and or spa heating. I believe the default is 2250, I would recommend re adjusting to a higher RPM.

the time on my system runs slowly, and i lose about 1 minute every 3 mins. just started last week. does that mean my motherboard or circuit board is going bad? not sure what else it could be....it's the time on the system itself, not the remote. :|

Is there a way to have your filter pump turn off when the pool hits X temp? I have solar heat and want it to run long enough to hit a certain temp but then turn off.
turn on the maintain heat temp. It will turn off when you water hits a certain degree, then turn on randomly throughout the day to do a water temp test.

Look for revision R, S, T or larger. It’s in the help of your settings. Or on the back of the chip on the board.
Everytime My pump turns on in auto or service, the ajv turns to waterfall . Ot sure if its wired correctly maybe?

@@ePoolSupply not sure, so im moving into the house next week, before the ajv worked with the aux button called waterfall, but popped the fuse everytime. So the seller paid to replace the valve. Now after i checked out the work, the valve turns everytime pump is turned on. I can turn the valve back off with no issues. My guess is pool guy wired it wrong
Oh no! When I tried to schedule "in floor' just like your setting, it is now stuck looking for a connection and i have lost the ability to get into the system. How can I go backward now?
turn the breakers off then back on. it will reset the iaqualink... that is a major glitch they have had. if you leave the screen when in the middle of programming an iaqualink without saving, you will be locked out of the web version.
My web portal looks nothing like this and I have no menu option.

If you have the RS, you will see the word “Web” in the upper right-hand corner, push that and then turn your phone sideways and this interface will come up.
This is also not available on the PDA System. We strongly recommend an upgrade to get to this.
I have not cleared memory on my device yet so I'm using the settings that the pool guy set for me but In-Floor button shows enabled. I know you stated that it's for elaborate in floor systems. How do I know what I have? I have a lap pool with a infinity edge spa. Please advise
Hi there JT. An in-floor pool cleaning system uses pop up cleaners to clear the pool of debris and dirt. They're called pop ups because they literally pop out of the pool floor to clean and then retract again when they're done. if you do not have pop ups then you would be using a pool cleaner which hooks up to a suction line or skimmer.

Hey Shadi, the zodiac salt system has its own reading from the sensor. But we recommend using a drop kit from Taylor Technologies for the most accurate results.
@@ePoolSupply Thank you. The reason I ask is becuase I have the Zodiac Saly setup but no Salt reading via the iAquaLink App. Was wandering if there is something I am missing. Currently using the Jandy Tru Clear if that makes a diffeence. Thanks again
the TruClear is a very simple simple, not complex like the aquapure. That one may have Low, Good, High readings... but yea, i would recommend a Taylor Drop kit.
