This is a lot of work (for Josh 😂) but I’m learning a lot and it’s fun.
Glad you like the editing. This is different from what I’m used to, so trying to keep it interesting. I need witty humor like you!!!

My bumper came with 3/16" plates that bolted to the frame that the bumper bolted to. Now that i have 3/16" frame stiffeners, all i had to do was weld a place for a 4th bolt onto the frame stiffeners and its good to go. I like having it welded to the frame much better than just bolting it on. Everyone always cuts their frame stiffeners off to mount their bumper. I am happy that SmittyBilt added the plate into their design so i can use it with frame stiffeners. 🙂

Looking good! Installing frame stiffeners is a dirty job especially if your doing full length. The cherokee body's are dipped and galvanized or something similar and you have to clean past that coating to get decent looking welds. If you guys decide to remove the front bumper I would do a front stiffener plate that goes over the front crossmember behind the bumper, t&m fabrication makes one that i use and I believe hooligan offroad makes one. I've seen that front crossmember buckle multiple times on cherokees and cause problems because the radiator will start twisting, having a good bumper helps though. Another tip that I usually do since it's so wet around here is I paint the frame and backside of the stiffeners with steel-it weld through paint, I used to use UPOL #2 weld through primer but steel-it is more durable and gives a better weld in my opinion. I also use a cavity wax with a long 360 spray wand after installing a full set of stiffeners to coat the inside of the unibody doing this stuff makes a huge difference, it's just something I've come up with over the years of doing so many cherokees.
Another tip for you to think about is if your keeping the rear leaf springs and installing rear stiffeners I would highly recommend replacing the forward leaf spring boxes/mounts with a set from ironman4x4fab it's well worth the time and effort. But a 2nd option is from rustys offroad it's their leaf spring reinforcement brackets that strengthens the original mounts. When you hang heavy axles off those brackets I've seen them peel off. I've also seen them bust up through rusty floors because they rely on the floor sheet metal and spot welds for strength.
I don't mean to bombard you with information haha, I just enjoy working on cherokees it's a lot of fun.

A lot of good info! Josh came out with an idea so that we don’t have to take off the front bumper. But we do have a steering box brace up front.
We will look into those leaf springs reinforcement brackets. We do have relocation brackets and reinforced track bar.
We are using a weldable primer.
A lot of good info and we appreciate it! We will look into a few of these! ❤️🐞

All I keep thinkin' watching this is, somewhere in Germany there's 3 old VW engineers who were hired by Lee Iacocca to design the original Dodge mini van, and these Jeeps. Sitting around a nursing home and watching all the mods being done around the world on UA-cam to their babies. lol!
"Hey Fritz remember when we told Lee, this needed to be done? It only took them 40 years for them to figure it out"! lol! "Ya, he want those gas hog V8's, and we showed him how Benz uses a 4 and 5 cylinder 60hp diesel! Ha, Ha, Ha!"
Watch your fingers Bug. You only get 8 and 2 thumbs.
Make sure they last you, your whole life. xoxo!

@@joshjoshb2595 I didn't notice an allen head, I did look close, but I'll look again. From my research on the hardware store's web site it shows to be screwed on, but can be 2 different threads/pipe sizes, so I have to take it off before buying a new spout. It doesn't want to unscrew, probably 'rusted' onto the plastic pipe of this mobile home, I don't want to break the plastic pipe. This was last winter, I wanted to wait until summer to try again. Thanks.

welding plate to frame ,weight ,bigger axle ,weight ,were Is the 1200hp LS an tranny to push the weight ,over the rocks an hope your not going in mud ,slow down an think ,i have 35 with a dana 30 ,weld tubes an i have beat it to death ,just spent the time ,watching outher builds ,i have been welding a long time an avoid welding on my frame at all cost ,dont even like the ,hole an nut ,for skid plate weld , drill hole ,use the rivet threaded thing with silicone, anyway have fun ,look for back up jeep ,with good frame ,light an nimble ,under 500hp

This project and justification depends to a large degree on what you're doing with it. If you're in mud or soft sand, light duty axles will serve just fine. The JeepSpeed desert offroad racers pound the hell out of the stock axles with bolt-on suspension kits required by the rules. But for rock crawling, like Joe and Bug have been exposed to here in California at the Hammers, and in Utah at Moab and Hurricane, long term durability calls for southern axles, which calls for beefed up mounting points to the sheet metal of the body shell. Watch TrailMater's channel and Matt's offroad recovery. Matt has broken a few axles in his Dana 44 upgraded XJ recently and is prepping for a Dana 60 upgrade, same as Joe and Bug. Also just recently, Roy used TrailMater to do a trail repair of an XJ the theforward perch bracket tore loose and the rear shackles mount was tearing out at the same time. After the trail repair the Jeep was going to the shop for more reinforcement. The XJ is admirably rugged and light. But for some uses, beefing up axles and mounts is called for.
