Getting India to become a manufacturing hub for both foreign investors and domestic investors will be profitable however it should be given considerable caution due to risk of trade embargos and sanctions in the future. India should focus more on domestic R&D facilities and projects to increase economies of scale for our country.
I think thats why India insists on full blue prints and full license and soft ware for the F414s so if anything goes wrong India can makes parts them selves not many countries get this kinda deal
@@Jefe-Grande not entirely true because best example is Tejas Argentina deal went flop not because Tejas wasn't good but because the ejection seat was made from UK who had placed multiple trade embargos on Argentina from receiving any UK or UK linked products due to the Falklands war episode.

F414 Engine production is great news. But India should not rely on US engines for all upcoming projects. India should develop it's own jet engine tech ❤

Kaveri engine will replace F404 once it can produce 85 to 90 KN which was the intent it was designed for, currently it can produce 74 KN and idea is with 80% TOT for GE and complete TOT and IP for joint venture engine development ( with safran or RR ) enough know how can be gained to develop kaveri to reach 85 to 90 KN mark.
So Kaveri will replace F404
Indigenous engine being developed with joint venture ( safran or RR ) will replace F414 as this engine has proposed power of 120 to 130 KN.
This new engine will be fitted on Thas MK2 , TEDBF and AMCA during their mid life engine upgrade and initially on AMCA MK 2

NAMICA Mk 2 isnt an upgrade of NAMICA Mk 1, its just a different variant, while Mk 1 can be used in Recce and support battalions as a true anti tank platform, Mk 2 can be used in fire support companies in regular mech battalions for additional firepower
You can use space between 414 (like this -> 4 1 4) so the TTS says four one four instead of four hundred fourteen.
Till the time Army plans on procuring a lighter variant of ATAGS or Bharat 52 or any other gun under the TGS plan, they can atleast fastrack the 314 ATAGS order & 780 Mounted Guns order so that Artillery Modernisation can atleast kick off. Also fastrack ordering of 100 more Tracked K9 Vajra Self Propelled Howitzers.
Order these in FY25 itself so that induction can begin next year onwards & by FY30, a sizable amount of our artillery Regiments have Modern howitzers.

Does that mean GE is front runner for AMCA 2 engine as well as 1000 order suggest? It will be great to have one family of engine powering MK1A, MK2, AMCA 1 and 2 and TEDBF. This will give economy of scale. With no business available for this engine, we can get it cheaper ToT as well. It is existing engine unlike RR and Saffron which does not exist and will take another 7 to 10 years to develop with limited AMCA order.

Do you mean the PHL-16 which has similar specs like Caliber-370mm, Barrels-8, Effective firing range-130 km (using BRE3 rocket), Maximum firing range depends on armament, 280 km (174 mi) (using BRE8 rocket), or 360 km (using TL-7B anti-ship missile). PHL16 inducted by CHINA in 2023. Similarly china has PHL-03 for 120km.

The number of operational conventional submarines of Indian Navy is extremely low considering the fact that we need to protect a vast Indian Ocean region. We should plan to atleast double the numbers in next 8 years.

In terms of munitions like(gun ammo,grenades and other explosives) india is self reliant we have capabilities to mass produce them as much as we want (obviously if raw materials are sufficiently available)

Once Tejas Mk1A is commissioned, will the existing Mk1 aircraft be upgraded to Mk1A as well or not?
No , mk1A has basically fixed problems that were associated with Airframes so it can't be done with existing fleet. And all other upgrades of Radar , avionics , sensor fusion , Electronic warfare suit , etc... are also were difficult to install on existing fleet as it's like transforming a 4th gen to 4.5th gen . Even if not 100% we still will upgrade mk1 time to time .

Tejas MK2. I thought it's currently used. It's actually in development.
Tejas mk1 is currently used , in next 5 years we will acquire about 20 Tejas mk1A per year which has fixed all the problems of mk1 . Tejas mk2 will be equipped with technology designed for AMCA making it almost 5th gen except it won't have internal weapon bay . mk2 will be inducted from about 2028-29

That's basically AMCA and TEDBF . It will take too much time to upgrade tejas to twin engine and it's not really needed as of now .

HAL is a behemoth with no nimble response instead BHEL should be allowed to make GE engines. As a matter of fact BHEL has more experience in making all kinds of turbines including license production of LM series which us actually the grand father of GE 404 and GE 414 this could also help develop marine gas turbine indigenously instead of waiting Ukraine to help us for the current I n ships they are starved of spares for the existing fleet!
