Doesn't matter. You don't push your way out of a box. When you realize the race is going to be tactical, it is on you to find an unobstructed path per World Athletics rules. She was only saved from disqualification because both Goule and Sum made the finals.

Nakaayi didn’t really go easy, I guess she wanted it so bad and I believe it was a desperate move because she knew she wasn’t going to qualify where she was anyway, so she had nothing to lose. Luckily for her, it paid and the IAAF did well by letting Goule get into the final, they made a happy ending for everyone.

Felister Gatwiri They didn’t want to make any room for anyone because they knew they were going to win the race that way. However, people are not that level of competition to joke.
What’s the point of staying behind with your potential because you are afraid of being disqualified? You have to qualify first to get disqualified and Nakaayi took her chance. And, at the final she showed everyone who’s the boss. Next time people will change their tactics.

@@garebfeumba5407 so in other words, next time everyone should be pushing pass people to win.🙄 There is no excuse for her nasty behavior. She needs to learn to run without pulling at people's arms or pushing ppl. She is very talented and doesn't need to be pushing people to win.

You don't have to get out of the way of the runner behind you; the best runners will make sure they have a way through... but if nobody complains, there's no disqualification: both the runners she pushed qualified anyway & one was from her country, so hardly likely to complain.
So perhaps the message is: be careful of whom you push!

  • @victord.3197

I mean.... if the winner of that last semi was in shape enough to win that race by shoving her way through, she should be allowed to do it right? I'd hate to lose a race if I was impeded by slower runners or less conditioned.. is it ethical? No. But she clearly was the best in that heat.

well if you are going slower than the person behind you its common courtesy to move out of the way so the other person can get through. However they didn't and decided to box the Ugandan. what was she supposed to do ask them to move while almost at the end of an 800 meter race when she was completely exhausted? no. Desperate times call for desperate measures so i believe she did what she had to do.

That's what I was waiting for, thank you. Sum should have given space to the stronger and faster Nakaayi. She blocked her. When she finally got passed, she realized, what she had done. Goule of course was the victim then. But she was not hindered that much. Why didn't she run just faster? Because she couldn't. So no problem for me, that the little cannonball got not disqualified.
