Cara- your father is a great musician- i never stop listening to the older shak stuff- whilst Bill Sharpe is an awesome keyboard player i often thought the Shaks were known for their keyboard work and often your fathers playing was over looked by the media. he's not a bad composer either...........i'm thinking the 'b' side to Mr Manic and Sister Cool........One for Cara!
Great to read Cara's comment about Keith playing again. I saw Shakatak a number of times in the 80s and always thought Keith Winter was one of the greats. He played with such feeling. I'd definitely love to see him play again with Shakatak, or indeed on his own. Best wishes Keith !
I can remember seeing Shakatak at the Croydon Fairfield Halls during their tour of the Down On The Streets album. It's was on that album, two song's really got to me, "Photograph" and this one "Hypnotised". I just loved hearing the guitar taking the lead for once and there could not have been a better track for it. I can remember just laying back on the sofa and this track would just send me into a relaxation that I could have gotten use too. Keith Winters was just a brilliant and talented player, his control technique was just so smooth and subtle, he was just so underrated. I was shocked to hear of his illness but am so happy for him that he is finally playing again. I've seen Shakatak 3 times in concert, the last was at Ronnie Scotts, but the concert that I saw for this tour I will never forget, mainly for this song. I just love it.
Great piece and great guitar tone. Yamaha SG 2000. Reminds me of the early 80s where many japanese guitar players used SG 2000s on a lot of great fusion records.
I saw them live in November 1984 in my home town, in a small venue in Arnhem Holland. Keith was the one that really made the biggest impression to me. He turned my winter into summer.....
Keith is great and I love this track on the album, but he got too carried away here and spoilt the number. Jill standing there thinking "hurry the fu** up"!
