  • EDIT: In your VCarve Pro 'Job Setup', select "zero off MATERIAL surface." DO NOT select "zero off machine bed," as was shown in the screenshot at the beginning segment of the video.
    If you already have a new Onefinity Elite or have one coming soon, this video was made for you. I made minor mistakes when cutting my 2" x 2" grid pattern into my wasteboard, but you don't have to make the same mistake I did.

    Any thoughts to adding dog holes and or an outer side framing fence?

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  11 місяців тому +1

      Adding some type of framing guide will be one of my next projects. I made a fence for my Shapeoko Pro and loved it. I had considered doing dog holes then, which would’ve been much easier to do, but opted for the fence. This time I’m still debating on which way to go.
      Regardless, with the G54 ~ G59 programmable offsets in the Masso controller, it makes even more sense to utilize some sort of framing guide(s).

    So lining up the bit with the black dot of the Wasteboard, is that 1" from the edge?
    Thank you.

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  9 місяців тому

      It’s 11/16” on my machine, but it could differ slightly on each machine. Your “black dot” point will be where your x axis limit switch stops your spindle. I used a v-bit to find and mark mine. The MEASUREMENT itself from the edge of your waste board to your “black dot” isn’t really relevant in this case. You just need to know the absolute point where the limit switch stops the spindle from going any further to the left, and use that point as the extreme left edge of your grid.

    Great tip. How did you choose your spindle? Looks like 65mm water cooled pwn?

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  5 місяців тому

      It's actually the 80mm PwnCNC water cooled spindle, and it's a dandy! PwnCNC is the leader of the pack when I comes to cnc spindles, dust boots, ATC's, etc. so it was really an easy decision. Not to mention, they're some of the finest folks you'll ever meet. If you're interested in any of their products you can use my affiliate link in the description to save 5% on your order! Hi, could you have gotten it as deep as you wanted with only one pass? And, why didn't you use a faster inches per minute speed? Thanks!

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes, I could’ve easily cut it in one pass, and a lot faster, but my machine was brand new and I was just being conservative, not wanting to mess up anything. Thanks for watching!

    Can you tell me if you recommend the QCW frame? I didn't order one and now wondering how much difference it will make.

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  11 місяців тому

      As far as the increased rigidity and pretty much a guaranteed flat surface, it’s great. But the big thing I DON’T like about it is the 8” gap between T-Tracks. Clamping was MUCH easier on my Shapeoko Pro hybrid wasteboard setup. Those T-Tracks were only 4” apart, which allowed for much easier clamping. If I had it to do over again, I’m not sure I would get the QCW.

    • @goforthbmerry
      @goforthbmerry 11 місяців тому

      @@MitchellsWoodwork thank you for that information. I was actually planning on using 6" base spacing for my wasteboard but that is still up in the air. It was kind of a random pick to go evenly into 48" and not really thought out in any "master plan"

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  11 місяців тому +2

      Personally, I'd recommend you consider 4" spacing, but even 6" would be better than the 8" of the QCW. Spoiler alert! I'm going to attempt to modify my QCW to have 4" spacing...wish me luck!

    • @8thsinner
      @8thsinner 11 місяців тому +1

      @@MitchellsWoodwork I get the impression the guys over at onefinity liked the idea of the shapeoko hybrid table but wanted to keep things a little bit cheaper and so went with the half n half version of the framing. In day to day use I expect the 4" or 8" makes a difference if you're doing smaller things but if you're doing large signs it probably makes less difference.
      In saying that. I'm looking forward to see you try to mod for 4"

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  11 місяців тому +1

      @@8thsinner for me personally, most of my signs are 16” - 24”, but I have some smaller and some much larger from time to time. The QCW is great for larger pieces, that’s for sure.

    I think id run this at about 150-170 ipm personally.

    • @emostorm7
      @emostorm7 6 місяців тому

      Not an knock on your work, I'm still a beginner, but those speeds seem. To be more appropriate for onefinity machines IMHO

    • @MitchellsWoodwork
      @MitchellsWoodwork  6 місяців тому

      @@emostorm7 I agree, I COULD have run it a lot faster but I was already 20ipm faster than the manufacturers recommendation (60ipm). Thanks for your feedback and thanks for watching!
