"Replica"...FN screwed a lot of people with their "collector edition" rifles. The barrels are button cut 4140, not 4150 cmv (11595E) steel. Basically the same steel used on budget entry level ar's.
@@j.james-88 I'll have to look into this. I have the 20 inch, initially I thought it was chf, I might change the barrel at someday. But personally I'm getting close to 1 moa with good ammo.
@@renoreynolds8111 It says the barrel is 4140 in the instruction manual also. I have no doubt the barrel can shoot moa with premium ammo, but for the price they charge, it should have came with MIL-B-11595E CMV like the A4 and M4A1 does. It's fine for just a plinker, but honestly, we didn't buy the rifle as a plinker, did we. We wanted a top tier rifle and paid for it. FN knew exactly what they were doing by not advertizing the barrel steel and charging for it. My advice would be to recoup as much as you can and get a Colt M4A1 Socom if you really want a gwot rifle.
So just to be a nerd here, but you can actually get closer to an M16A4. The collectors edition is made for civilians, and it's cut with M4 feed ramps in the barrel and upper receiver. The real military A4s us an A4 upper without M4 feed ramps and rifle cut feed ramps on the barrel. So if you built one using surplus FN parts with the correct cuts, you could get a bit closer to the real deal without enlisting!
@georgewhitworth9742 no its all A4s that are built to military spec because the TDP for M16s have never been updated for M4 feedramps because it's not necessary for the M16
My 14.5 Geissele built out is a 9+ pound gun so to complain about the weight on this is neither here nor there. these FNs are beautiful guns, would it be the 1st AR i bought no, but having 3 or 4 of them i want a 20" in the collection if for nothing else this 20" turns a regular 55gr bullet into a monster rd because of the fps, that said i don't own the collector but i did buy this FN upper for $699 a few years back with no regret's. Edit, i just moded the FN to look like the collector series, its cool af!!
Aside from the NJ compliance butchering BS: that's a quality rifle that will last generations properly maintained. As far as practicality? Maybe not for 3-gun or if you're a SEAL team boarding ships or kicking in doors hunting for Bin Laden. But as a practical minuteman/HD/SD/SHTF rifle? You can't get much better than what you've got there.
reloaderz in wayne nj did my compliance work for my fn m16, all they did was shave the bayonet lug and pin and weld the appropriate brake (of course mag converted to 10rds)

congrats on the rifle, I got mine a month ago and its fantastic to shoot.
They did the same to my FN @ FSS armory pine brook NJ..I got a legit muzzle break .. cool team of dudes..
They're nice rifles. I bought one last year and have yet to shoot it. 😂
Don't sleep on this rifle. It preforms.

@@j.james-88 I'm pretty good at barrel swaps. What about getting like a chf barrel?

Why does a fixed stock on a 20 inch barrel make my compass point north?🧭🖕🏽🤷🏻♂️

What did NJ do to my boy!??!
Butchered it.
Does it have any magwell beveling? Or is it pretty much flat?
How’s the gun so far? I just ordered one
Honestly, I've shot it a few times, but not that much. It's a 20-inch AR-15 and has the weight to match. 100% reliable though.

Could you turn this into a mk12 mod 1?
You could, if you have the wallet for it
NJ is good with the transfer ??
In general, if the FFL is willing to do the custom work to make it NJ legal then you can have most things. I hope that answered your question.
