      Thanks! That means a lot. This was my first attempt at doing something like this and learning as I go. I feel the lessons keep getting better as you get later in the course. Always open to feedback to make future videos and courses better.
      As you go through the course please reach out if there are any questions!
      Be sure to check out the my AWS CCP practice exam video as well and spend some time reviewing the AWS services that come up in those practice questions to ensure you're familiar with them at a high level. At that point, you'll be well prepared pass the CCP exam and have a great foundation to build on for the associate level certifications as well!
      All the best with your cloud study voyage!

    Hey, I just achieved my CLF-C02 certification. This course was my main resource along with some mock tests from Udemy. I would like to thank you for creating such a great course.
    This made a significant difference in my learning. I still had to go through some more AWS features but this course covers most of the new syllabus.

    Just wanted to come back and say I passed CLF-C02 from mostly this video. I needed to review some of the services more prior to my test but it did cover the majority of the content. This video is based off of CLF-C01 so some of the information has been moved to different domains, but all of the same material was covered. One of the better free training's out there.

    Hi Mike!
    I just wanted to give my thanks for this course; it has been very helpful in helping me pass the exam. The visuals and diagrams helped me visualize how AWS works. Lightsail, Outpost, and CloudWatch are some AWS services you might want to cover in the future.
    Thanks again for this course! 🙂

      Amazing! Congrats on passing the CCP!
      Keep the momentum and tackle the associate certs if you're looking to continue the AWS cert journey.
      Yes, there are some gaps in some of the service coverage due to the transition of this course to UA-cam from my previous LMS hosting platform. There was quite a bit of supplemental guides, video references, and other review material that got into some of those areas. I feel the content here covers 90% or so of all the possible exam topics, so when used with reviewing the AWS documentation, AWS Skill Builder, and other references, it will fill in those gaps.
      Amazing job on pushing through the study efforts and passing the exam!

    I'm what you could call a S.T.A.R. specialized training through alternative routes. I've been working in IT, networking, and technology since 2004 but don't have a cert to my name. I'm looking to make that happen since I've had a lucrative job offer as a jr. Systems engineer come into play. Listening to this content gas helped me realize how much i actually know. It really helps me have the confidence to take that step and actually start getting my certifications built up and dang, I sure appreciate you for helping to lay this out for us. Can't wait to update with ky cert completion status. Git 'er done! 🍻

    • @cloudvikings
      @cloudvikings  8 місяців тому

      Amazing! With your background, you'll have little trouble getting started with the cloud technology areas and getting through the certs. Often folks jump into cloud and start collecting certs, yet have no foundation in general IT and networking concepts. They really struggle in certain cloud roles with out that solid base, or their knowledge falls a part during interviews. Cert's can help give you a learning framework to to keep building skills in new areas, but don't make them the ultimate goal. Take your time studying, build projects as you go to both get more hands-on experience and provide more context to what you're learning and understand how different services and technologies can be used together to solve real-world challenges.
      Anyways, sounds like you have a great foundation to build on and the motivation to keep learning which is the main thing. 2024 is your year! Go!

      It's the same videos as this one on UA-cam, but broken into individual lessons which may be easier to jump around and find certain topics to review and will track your progress so you can easily resume where you left off. I also have a few lesson additions that have links to new content that is for the CLF-C02 scope that isn't covered in the lessons directly. Not much changed with the CLF-C02 exam version, but I've called out recommended AWS documents and other references that will ensure you have covered all the exam topic areas for the latest exam version.

    This deserves more appreciation! Thanks for creating something beyond a proper course. I Was tired of memorising stuff for solutions architect (and of the people saying you don’t need ccp level knowledge) and found other courses all the same - slides, descriptions, million services and questions. This particular course enlightens rather than just running through stuff. Well done!

    • @cloudvikings
      @cloudvikings  Рік тому +5

      Thanks! Next courses will be even better. A lot more visuals, lesson design focused on memory retention of the material, ensuring the real-world application and context of the material, hands on labs (building projects as we go)...
      I put a lot of time in ramping up my video editing and motion graphics skills along with some other stuff. (It's like a whole new world/hobby for me)
      I've also invested in some gear for my setup here recently, so hopefully it all results in some better productivity and leveled-up lessons. :)
      Future courses/videos, I plan to have a bit more fast-paced lessons and switch things up. I feel that by avoiding the boring slides approach I took in this course, many of the lessons of just that "talking head" style, which I feel may also get a bit boring by staring at me rambling on.
      If you check out more of the course (it improves as you go), I always appreciate any feedback good/bad. You won't hurt my feelings - keep it real! :)
      Also, in the next week or two, I should have some news of an alternate way to go through the course lessons here. Keep an eye out for that.
      Thanks again for checking out the course and let me know if you have any questions, CCP scope or beyond! Cheers!

    4. It really feels like if you spend these 7 hours paying close attention, you’ll definitely end up gaining tons of well structured info. That’s very important. Finally through the entire video (at 1.75x, haha). The knowledge you have and share is amazing, it definitely seems like you have a ton of experience and background on using AWS, and the editing is surprisingly high level.. I need to get on that for my hobby videos! The only thing that made it tougher on youtube was not having those links you intended to share that was used on your previous platform. I liked the viking touch like in the graphics and other interactive animations and edits. Thanks

    • @cloudvikings
      @cloudvikings  Рік тому +4

      Thanks! Yeah, the video playback speed is key. I often 2.5-4x videos to pre-skim videos to get a high-level idea of the content, try to take a few notes to summarize what I captured (just core ideas/topics), form some of my own questions around this, then if needed, I'll do a later pass at maybe 1.5-2x to see what I missed, etc. but I find my attention is a lot more focused heading into that 2nd pass as I'm reviewing with specific areas I'm trying to answer or get clarification on.
      You'd be surprised how much you can retain even beyond the 2x speeds. After a few minutes, you get used to it and it feels "normal".
      My next courses (and the eventual CCP refresh of this one) will be a different format and the links and stuff will be sorted out, and a much better overall "course" experience.
      Looking back on the lessons in this course (these were done a while back), the editing and a lot of things I find pretty rough knowing what I know now. I've been down sooo many rabbit holes the past year or so with video editors, learning the sea of "content creation" skills, sound design, improving my recording equipment (video/audio), sound treatment, etc. etc.... it's been fun though. A lot of new hobbies discovered in the process.
      I've been in the shadows the last little while due to time demands over the summer here, but picking away at the website a bit when I can, and getting the frameworks in place for the next round of courses to come.
      Thanks again for your comments and checking out the course!

      Thanks for checking out the video! Yeah, lots of folks were successful with just the video (check comments). However, I'd say at a minimum, follow this up with my practice exam video on the channel here as well.
      I don't have the background context to your existing experience, goals, etc., but I'd try not to rush through a single video as the sole training resource. Spend some time digesting it all, reading through the AWS docs referenced in the course (and docs related to services mentioned in the practice exam video), and some hands-on experience (CCP scope doesn't really require too much of this), and you'll really have a solid foundation for the exam, and to build upon for other AWS certifications.
      Also, keep an eye out for a minor update in the next few days (hopefully) in the channel here. Should have a bit better course experience for these lessons and some additional supplemental resources (all the links to the docs I reference, more quizzes, practice exam simulator, etc.)

      Thanks so much! Slowly getting better at this course and video stuff. As for the links, these lessons were originally made for a different course hosting platform and the interactive link pop up’s don’t work the same on UA-cam. If you can’t find the documentation or reference site I mention, let me know and I’ll pass those along.

    I understand links are missing, but isn't it possible for you to input the links in the UA-cam platform? It might take some time, but this will help a lot with the flow of learning and understanding your video. I know it's possible, because UA-camrs usually use it for saying "subscribe" here or something like that.
    Thanks again, you've a great voice for teaching :)

    • @cloudvikings
      @cloudvikings  Рік тому +3

      Yeah, I've used the "cards" in videos that you can place to do things like suggest other videos and subscribe links, but I wasn't aware of the ability to do straight external links.
      I did some quick research on this, and there does seem to be a way to make these cards as an external link type which would be perfect. I looked at the terms and conditions related to the external links, and it gets a little complicated. YT seems to want to avoid links to external sources outside of the UA-cam domain. It's largely to prevent links to sites that violate their community guidelines, which I can't see AWS documentation references and similar links being an issue, but I'll look into more of the details around this soon and add in the links if I can.
      I've been thinking about making other certification course videos, and I'll approach them differently so they're better suited to the UA-cam platform, viewing experience and learning flow.
      In the meantime, if there are any links or references in the video you can't find, let me know!
      As for my voice, thanks!
      I hated doing the editing part and hearing myself initially. It's that typical "do I really sound like this??". I've become desensitized to my own voice and staring at myself through the hours of editing at this point. :D
      I'm slowly getting more comfortable talking to a camera and the whole video/content creation stuff, so the next courses and future videos should be much more refined. Also working on adding a bit more energy into future videos so folks don't fall asleep watching them! :D
      Always welcome any feedback to improve!
      Thanks again for your suggestion on the embedded links, and all the best with your study and cert exam(s)!

    • @maxsurf5932
      @maxsurf5932 Рік тому

      @@cloudvikings I find you better than most UA-camrs. You are relaxed and maybe can seem a bit off tune (same voice and tune all the way, which can be boring), but at least it is very clear to understand you. And you still try to do some jokes, which is nice. Teaching people this way can simulate a better understanding when you are comparing the concepts with real-life scenarios. So keep up the good work with that. + I can agree that a lil bit of energy into the teaching material would make a positive impact.
      Another recommendation for your YT video and regarding the links issue; Maybe you could just add the links into the description for each Domain/Topic. This way it will be much easier for you to edit the description and add the links that you're talking about:
      (For example: 2:13:41), here you are talking about material, but im not sure which one. But under the description of your YT, you could write something like this: "2:08:06 - Right-Sized Infrastructure (add link here)".
      This would be much appreciated for me and im sure other people too, since I have already spent around 5-10 mins in looking for the correct material that you're talking about. And im still not yet even sure that the link is "/aws-cost-optimization/Right Sizing" for the example that I mentioned.
      Anyway, looking forward to finish your YT AWS Course, and give you a complete feedback once I'm done. Until then, I wish you a great summer.

    • @cloudvikings
      @cloudvikings  Рік тому

      Thanks so much for this feedback. It means a lot.
      I feel there is a bit of progression through the lessons here of just getting a bit more comfortable talking to a camera and all that stuff, and they get a _bit_ more engaging later on in the course.
      Really trying to get as much feedback as I can before starting an SAA course, so this is great info.
      Out of the gate, I'll be making the future lessons with UA-cam in mind so a lot of the links won't have that imbedded/interactive approach.
      I really like the description timestamp/chapter reference idea. In theory, viewers would likely be pausing the video at that point to check out the material, so it would serve both as the link to the material, as well as being an easy to find bookmark to jump to that point in the video to return to it later. I may also have a do course landing page type thing on an external site, with the YT lesson videos embedded in it. I can wrap the lesson video with additional links and context so everything is in one spot and easier to follow along.
      For the overall lesson format, I wanted to avoid having just simple bullet point type slides as the core material delivery approach like many others I've seen, but feel I may have taken it too far in some cases. I've left students to stare me with my talking head style lessons for long stretches, which I imagine is just as boring in some cases.
      For the future course(s), I'll try to find that happy mix of cool visuals to make core ideas/concepts memorable/relatable, mixed in with some talking head and a bit of slide-based content, and keeping the overall edit more fast paced. Lots of ideas to try out to keep things much more energetic and engaging in the future. :)
      Again, really appreciate your time for the great feedback, and trusting me and the lessons as part of your study material.
      Looking forward to further feedback once you're done. Be sure to follow up the course here with my CCP practice exam video as it will call out some possible AWS services to be aware of that I saw when I re-took the CCP exam recently that aren't directly covered in the course lessons.
      And yes, be sure to enjoy the summer as well. They go by way too fast.

    I’ve personally decided to skip this cert as it’s a bit too basic. I feel AWS should make this one free. It’s great for turning people into AWS advocates, and to help sales people sell AWS services. If you have some AWS experience under your belt this cert is silly. You should shoot for a few associate level certifications. Then move into specialty certifications, and then finally, you should be ready to knock out a few professional ones. If go that route your knowledge should stack from cert to cert making the tests a bit more easy as you progress.

      Behind the scenes here, I'm reworking the site and figuring out some course framework that will let me build the new courses the way I want. It's just been slow with work/family demands this summer. Hoping to get some more free time soon to get moving on the site and start building some new courses.
      I'm still struggling with a pricing structure as I wan't to keep the courses as accessible as possible, but I'll figure out something. May trial a donation/name-your-price model and see how that goes. Free (maybe videos ad-supported on YT), then if students feel the course was of value, buy me a coffee or something if they can. :)
      It will likely take a while to get the next course together (and already working out a plan for the CCP course refresh for the new exam version (which doesn't change much)), but if you're interested, I'd love to get a bunch of folks enrolled early as beta testers and get early feedback!
      If you're looking to start studying for an associate level course or something else soon, let me know and I can recommend some courses/resources.

      Thanks for checking out the video as part of your study material!
      Be sure to follow up this course with the CCP practice exam video on the channel here as part of your review. I re-took the CCP exam just before making that video to try to get a fresh perspective of the latest exam question types, and feel it will help guide you to other areas and services to review so you're well prepared for whatever they throw at you. If an AWS service is mentioned in the practice exam video answers (even if it's the wrong answer for the specific question), take a minute to review what that service is about at a high-level if you're not familiar with it. Some non-"Core" services like Lightsail, Outposts, Inspector, GuardDuty, SecurityHub, etc. can be in scope and could see some questions come up.
      From the CCP exam guide ( d1.awsstatic.com/training-and-certification/docs-cloud-practitioner/AWS-Certified-Cloud-Practitioner_Exam-Guide.pdf ) , use the appendix section of services listed at the end of the guide, then spend a minute or two on each one to search out the AWS documentation on that service, and skim through the FAQ section for each one. The FAQs are a great overview of what the service is all about, and some key things to know about it. For services that may not have a FAQ section, usually the first "intro" section in the AWS user guide will provide a similar high-level overview.
      The Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) is an interesting area to consider as part of the general benefits of cloud/AWS story and how the "capabilities and perspectives" in that can guide customers measure and improve their "readiness" of a full cloud migration and overall cloud adoption. - aws.amazon.com/cloud-adoption-framework/
      The AWS Well-Architected Pillars and respective design principles are always great to be aware of - aws.amazon.com/architecture/well-architected/

      It's a long story behind my learning journey with video, audio, editing, graphics, etc. but for my new courses, I think I have things a lot more figured out and will be even better.
      After going through Adobe Premiere, and then FCP, I've settled on Davinci Resolve as my main video editing software. It's been rock solid for me and I enjoy using it. I'm starting to get more familiar with the Fusion aspects of it for more advanced compositing and graphic animations, but still lots to learn there.
      For screen recordings, I've been primarily using OBS for that these days.
      For the drawing on the screen stuff I had in a few lessons, you can use any type of paint software and just draw over a black background. I preferred the more chalk-type brushes. Most editing software will have keying capabilities or blending modes like "screen" or "multiply" that will essentially remove the black background and just leave your drawings so it looks like you're drawing over the video.
      There's a free version of Davinci Resolve that will likely be more than enough for any editing needs, and OBS is also free.
      Start doing your own videos of the things you learn along the way! No better way to review and burn that information into memory than teaching others!
      Reach out if you have more questions and want to get more into the specifics of what I'd recommend. I've wasted a ton of time and money on learning programs and on video/audio gear trying to figure things out on my own, so if I can help avoid any of that pain for you, let me know.
      All the best with your study!

    I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the exceptional video lesson. The content was incredibly informative and engaging, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective. What particularly stood out to me was the presenter's tone - it was clear, enthusiastic, and very encouraging. This made a significant difference in how the material was received. Great job on creating such a valuable learning resource. Looking forward to more content like this!

      Thanks! I'm glad they are helpful for your study. I plan to do a practice exam question review video, walking through questions similar to you would see on the exam, and explaining the right and wrong answers and showing the AWS resource references to find more info on that topic.
      I hope to have that completed in a few days, so it will be great review material just before your exam!
      All the best with your study efforts and good luck on the exam and your journey into a career in cloud!

    Hi Mike, thanks for this helpful course, if i watched the whole course is it enough to pass the exam?

    • @cloudvikings
      @cloudvikings  Рік тому +8

      Yes, I feel it would be more than enough to pass the exam as-is.
      There were a number of other supporting non-video lessons, quizzes and practice exam simulators on the other course hosting platform I was using that I can't offer through UA-cam. The student stats I had showed quite a few skipped over these quiz and non-video sections anyways and they were successful in passing regardless.
      That being said, I'd still suggest that after going through the course, take a look at the other links in the description for Cloud Quest, and of course the AWS documentation mentioned in the videos, to help reinforce your learning and provide additional context to certain topics and AWS service specifics.
      Take your time, over-learn the topic areas and focus more on the understanding of the exam topics rather than just passing the exam. If you're over prepared, it will make the AWS Certified Solutions Architect associate or whatever next certification path you have in mind that much easier, and you'll be better prepared for applying what you learned on the job or in an interview situation rather than just have a cert to your name.
      All the best with your study voyage and let me know if there are any questions along the way!

I was hoping you could give me the list of resources outlined in this course. (Example: links to the blog post and articles.) Thank you :)

      Thanks for checking out the course and the support! In the course player on the site, there is a Discuss tab where links to a lot of the links to the documentation referenced in the videos are provided. If they're missing, add a message post in that Discuss tab on the lesson and I'll get you whatever is missing. If you have any questions as you go through the lessons, please reach out! DM me through the course or drop a post in one of the lessons and I'll do my best to help!

      Yeah, the original course hosting platform I used enabled these interactive pop-up links. Transferring the video lessons into UA-cam doesn't provide that same functionality.
      If you enrol in the course here, I'll have the links for the reference docs and some other stuff added in the next day or two so it's easier to follow along - cloudvikings.io/courses/aws-certified-cloud-practitioner-clf-c01/
