Adam slips on some of Queen's predominantly lower-register songs since, when he is there, his voice is sweet and angelic when Freddie sang those flamboyant and with rasp. However, this song is one where, when Lambert hits the higher registers, he breaths such amazing energy into the composition. Not going to deny Lambert is at his A-game here in terms of physical performance too. Jumpy, all over the place, exuding raw energy. Freddie would be proud and, maybe, even let his jaw drop a bit. Lambert is exceptionally talented.
I understand you are used to hearing Freddie sing the songs. Adam doesn't really slip, he's just singing as himself, not trying to duplicate Freddie.

It honestly just works better with Freddie most of the time. His generation of vocalists had to "pierce" through the mix with their voice due to how sound tech worked then. This is why most of the recordings, before remastering, had points of piercing vocals accompanied by moments that felt drowned out by the instruments. As such, with live performances, this worked to their advantage. Harder rock songs with vocalists working in baritone registers would sounds phenomenal since the vocalists would have the piercing sense of rhythm and pitch. ' Adam's voice on the lower register is incredibly well suited to a studio setting or live performance where the mix isn't so dominant (i.e. Mad World). The problem is that his low register is accompanying the harder mix of Queen in a live setting sometimes and it just doesn't shine through. This all does, indeed, go out the window with Adam's high range (as I've mentioned), since that voice is powerful enough to work through Queen's mix.
That's because Freddie is the person you are used to hearing do those songs. If you listen to the music with no preconceived notions, I think Adam will do just fine..at least he does for me.

This is one song Adam actually does even better than Freddy. It takes an angry queen - kinda reminds me of my ex. :P Freddy, as much as I love him, was too butch for this number.

Lambert looks like "Mike" the rubbish 4th character from The Young Ones (BBC comedy- early 80's cult comedy etc..). Cos the camera makes his shades enormous and his small body too jiggly. Mojo is not the same as jiggling- I know because I am jiggling right now, trying to be cool. I have failed... only saying that because Freddie would eat him for lunch.
I adore Freddie but I love Adam too. To me he IS as good as Freddie, but different, and that's why I love him. He's not an impersonator. I'm sure Freddie would love him too.
He is FIRE! Amazing vocal abilities & performance! Not to mention he looks freakin hot in that outfit, with those sunglasses & that hair! (I need a cold shower^^)
Totally agree with you. Can't understand the people who says that this band died long ago, the legacy goes on and Lambert handles his job very very well.
@@TheNoobtuberr Actually he can't just look at the live performances he has of the song. Marc Martel has a fantastic voice, and he can hit C5s easily it seems. But Lambert destroys him in the 5th Octave, he's an insane vocalist.
I've done some research on what exactly constitutes a rock voice. AllI have found is information about th instruments, timing, etc. nothing about a voice.
Adam was first noticed by Spike when he heard Adam sing Whole Lotta Love in 2009..that is the reason he contacted Brian and Roger about Adam. Adam can sing any genre well. ❤
The queen songs don’t as good anymore without Freddie or John deacon....no one can pull of the bass lines like deacon. Respect to adam lambert for keeping the songs alive tho and trying...not saying he’s awful or anything just not for me
I can't understand why the negative comments on this guy. Adam was hand picked by Queen and there is NO WAY Queen would have chosen a mediocre frontman to carry on from where Freddie left off. Of course, Freddie was a one-off but I am pretty sure that even Freddie would be happy with their choice. Give Adam a fair chance and let him do his thing.

He is OK at strutting around but I've heard bar band singers that sounded better at this song. He doesn't even come close. He's a good singer no doubt but the wrong choice here IMO. Instead of trying to distance a singer from Freddie so much a little closer to the original vocalist's sound would be better. (like Journey did). I don't want "new life" into these songs. If I want "new life" there is tons of modern singers like Adam doing tons of "new life stuff". Which is why I still listen to Queen. It should sound like Queen or call it something else instead of riding on the name. There's nothing Queen about that bass player's stupid hat bass players like to wear thinking they're hip..

Yes, you do put him to shame.
He is OK at strutting around but I've heard bar band singers that sounded better at this song. He doesn't even come close. He's a good singer no doubt but the wrong choice here IMO. Instead of trying to distance a singer from Freddie so much a little closer to the original vocalist's sound would be better. (like Journey did). I don't want "new life" into these songs. If I want "new life" there is tons of modern singers like Adam doing tons of "new life stuff". Which is why I still listen to Queen. It should sound like Queen or call it something else instead of riding on the name. There's nothing Queen about that bass player's stupid hat bass players like to wear thinking they're hip..
