All these 2003 performances by Metallica have the most bone crushing tone ever. Damn brutal.
That's exactly what i thought. Imagine Hardwired or Spit out the bone with this tone.
@@multiestonian Would sound incredible. Hardwired deserves such a beastly tone.
Early 2004 still badass
That what I was thinking! Damn!!!
It's brutal St. Anger tone with the classic Tallica tunes. Best of both worlds!!!!
This is my favorite performance of this song. Been too long since I heard it.
He does have the freekin Halloween spirit on this YEA!!
0:21 Heaviest riff and tone I have seen them playing Live until now
Those vocals are awesome
Probably the performance I like the most...but the whole concert was badass.
THE VOCALS!!! MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3:20 look at these eyes full of music and kindness...it just beatiful
OMG that setlist... All i saw was full black album + some random songs like mop,hl and s&d
The guitars sound the heaviest and best during this time.
James seattle 1989: beast.. james 2003: monsterr
The thing Should not be e fóda esse show e todos os shows do metallica. O solos tao foda do kirk nessa música.
Fuck Ya kirk that solo kicked ass💀💀💀💀💀🔥🔥🔥
01:26 Holy shit james! FUCK YEAH
Fucking love Hetfield's Flying V.
the last year they had a decent live guitar tone
For S&M it was deadly, for that show in particular haha
@Lengonator Thats james gunting into the mike!
FUCKING BEAST PERFORMANCE!!
Has someone have the tuning of the guitars in this song in live ? :-)
D standard on the album.
They ALWAYS played this song in C# (half step down from D standard)
+Vic Rattlehead no, the album is in drop d, live is drop c#
Infinity no, they used dropped tuning only on st.anger.
This song is in D standard (album version), or C# standard (live version). You can play it in drop D or D standard, doesn't matter (just different fingering) but Metallica plays it in D standard - just look at how they play powerchords (in dropped tuning powechord is the same frets on both strings (looks like 5-5), but in standard tuning this powerchord would be like 3-5 (6th and 5th string respectively).
solo reminds me of evil clowns
look up the same song at soundwave and you will see that he is now back
The attack of the flying v '
oh my fucking god when i get this sound ?
5:01
So wild
@Raider2845 *raises hand* you can start counting with me.
Whats that sound at 0,20min?
Lengonator a bad ass growl
5:08 Logan Paul?
2003 great year for Hetfield voice
1999 honestly
followed by the worst, 2004.
his voice resides within the mustache! i knew it
OOOH MMYYY GOOOOOD!
Trujillo is possessed by Satan here. Holy shit!
6:01 to 6:12 - BADASS!
damn that bass though 😱
Rob amazing, bass guitar sounds fucking great
amazing sound on their guitars !!!!!!
I have the original "Master of puppets" songbook. In this book it is in dropped D. In this performance, they play it in a normal to steps down tunning (DGCFAD). The Song is based on E minor. Look at 1.02: James uses his index finger and pinky to grip the e-chord. If the song was played in dropped D, he would only use his index finger.
The guitar sounds badass!
He had to compensate for the absence of Jason's backups by himself.
I hope hetfield brings back his stache for 2011, i dont care if its white or grey, he'll still look like a badass, and probably sing better lol :)
The mustache is back! 2018 and still now in 2022.
@@RickGrimesS5 oh wow. I forgot I even made this comment lol. Yes it is indeed
@@TwinStickFilmsdamn imagine finding out you had a 12 year old comment you probably have kids now
Best TTTSNB performance ever
Preach
Nah 1989 in Seattle is soo much better, not saying this is bad cause it's far from it, but the '89 Seattle performance of the song is PERFECT! James looks like he's screaming so loud that the mic starts shaking and he almost looks possessed!
MB215
1999 is better, sounds more possessed
jaymzCS only s and m version rest of the 1999 performances of it sound good Seattle is indeed the best
Nope, Seattle 1989 is fucking perfect! This is pretty good but not the best one.
I wonder what will happen if James grows his mustache back :D Will we have this voice again ? xD
monamOneX the answer is yes
its happened, and yes kinda
Yes. He grew it back
the voice and the rehab came back
i saw em in 2003 and they switched this song for fucking fuel, i wasnt happy
epic fucking win!
1:11 incredible note!
Hahaha! It's so heavy that it feels like my body weight has increased with 50 kilos! Hahaha!!! Love Metallica!
I wonder how many people MetallicA turned to Cthulhu and H.P. Lovecrafts writings..
jh1....we meet again
This is ridiculously heavy, punishing!
Crunchy as fuck guitar tone and mix
gotta love rob during the outro :-D
2003 was the last year that they really sounded heavy its really sad, even though they're still my favorite band and i still love their music
Thats total BS! I just saw them 5/12 in Philly and they were as heavy as ever
MB215 Look when that comment was posted. 4 years ago. 4 years ago, Metallica had not yet gained their heaviness back.
@@coltallic3114 they have now
the good old beard
What tuning do they use for this song. It doesn't look or sound like drop d so what is it
thegodthathatesall it is drop c#
It's not drop c# it's obvious is using 3 fingers on the power cords so it's in D standard or a whole step down
@KJBPSkipper Yeah at some point... They made their guitars sound heavier.
Pales in comparison to Seattle 1989 (when James really meant what he said), BUT, 2003 was the LAST year Metallica were good live and when James actually tried to sound mean, angry and badass.
three levels better voice than todays..
damn... Rob is BEAST here...
@bodycount00 What a difference 9 years makes.
Yup
3:28 daaaah 3:46 oh my God
5.00
Metallica Rulez
Es war soooo megageil!
Why can't METALLICA play like this anymore? I miss this. cherers.
Último concierto donde lars tiene una excelente técnica en su ejecución sin meter tanta redobles innecesarios
Am i the only one who hates james's voice nowadays? He used to have a much aggressive voice. now he's taken singing lessons or something, and sings it much more clean.
Heard Anselmo? It fucks up your throat. Anselmo sounds like Karl Sanders nowadays.
Not everyone can keep their voice the same for 30+ years.
TwoHeavyThrash Lelz, He kinda does. Except Karl Sanders is, you know, still functioning.
