Excellent, have always had great admiration for Madison and this presentation from Mr. Feldman just brings it home in the world of today. I will search out his book.

Madison's view of slavery is superior to Jefferson's because, in acknowledging everyone's right to freedom, he gives the slave permission to rebel against his servitude. Jefferson's view, which implies racism and white supremacy, denies every slave any permissions to seek freedom.
Madison's view is consistent and prescient with Lincoln's early views of slavery.

I’m a certified paralegal and well versed in con law, contract law, politics and all the 1st year law classes. This is the best discussion I’ve heard since Scalia

I hope the irony that when 'Original Intent' was used by Scalia as an argument in his decisions, he never cited Madison, isn't lost on you. Or in other words: Scalia was full of shit and if they gave an enema after he died, he could have been buried in a matchbox.

What evidence it there that Alexander Hamilton was "pansexual?" Also, I am a progressive and I know of no call on our part for a second or "Article 5" constitutional convention.

That's exactly what I was thinking regarding hamilton. I have never heard anyone say that before.

I'm writing 2 years after you, but there has definitely been a progressive movement in favor of a constitutional convention. The chief goal is ending the electoral college, with a second goal of campaign finance reform. Or possibly in the other order depending on who you ask. Wolf PAC has been promoting this and there are already 4 states (CA, RI, VT, and IL) who passed resolutions in favor of it.
I think the push for this has fallen off in two years though, as the conservatives embraced the idea more. (Likely both because they looked at the numbers.) As I write this in January 2022, Wisconsin and Nebraska both passed resolutions via Republican legislatures. Conservative goals would be a balanced budget amendment and term limits.
As for Hamilton being pansexual, some suspect that because of letters he wrote to a close friend John Laurens. The writing was quite flowery by modern standards. But most chalk that up to more likely be the style of the time. So "pansexual" is likely a misstatement.

@@notme222 I have attended many progressive functions and I have NEVER heard the subject of a second Constitutional Convention being brought up. This is another attempt by the Establishment to lump us in with the radical right and perpetuate the false narrative that we are out to "destroy the system." In any event, the point is moot because in the unlikely event of a second Constitutional Convention the results would be toothless because the Constitution did not become the law of the land until two-thirds of the states ratified it after each having held a ratification convention.

@@vincentsaia6545 Well OK then. I'll go tell those 4 states that their resolutions don't count because they didn't get your permission. BTW, next "progressive function" you're at ask around if anyone has heard of "The Young Turks" because they're the ones behind Wolf PAC.

@@notme222 TYT isn't an officially affiliated with the Progressive movement. Bernie Sanders, AOC, Nina Turner, Elizabeth Warren, Ro Khanna, Marianne Williamson, The Squad, nor any member of the Progressive House Caucus has ever advocated a second Constitutional Convention and I would wager that very few if any lawmaker in those - only - four states are Progressives. And you ignored my point that a second Constitutional Convention would be meaningless.
