I am a 20 year veteran teacher who stood up for the half dozen teachers in our math department who asked for help to file a grievance for repeated targeting and degrading communication in our workplace. By year end, I was excluded from tutoring students after school, all math classes wiped off my scheduled, consequently pushing me out of a math department I had worked for the last nine years, position as department chair removed, excluded from the team I was already on planning for summer school instruction, and a whopping side order of my face being removed from the school yearbook - no little square for me - all because I stood up and said we require respect and empathy in our workplace. It doesn’t get anymore ludicrous than that!
