correction; jazz actually blossomed in western europe, before the wave came back to america.... miles; dexter gordon; and so many of them had to travel to europe, bluid a fan base there before they were even taken seriously here in America. I do agree with you in the bases that most the jazz from in not all of them were created in America....
It is the same half of a pumpkin (?) the Kora body is made of. I don't know the name, but I know this instrument is sometimes played as a "water drum"; floating in water. As a water drum the sound is impressive deep! Here it is played with a microphone underneath I think. greetings, Niek (Netherlands)
samodrift if you didnt know Jazz originated in america, now Latin music has had a huge influence on jazz music, but this style was drawn from american culture, just a heads up.
@pillaisachin look, im not taking credit for anything! i was not around to do any of these things, so how can i say i did any of these things. all im trying to say is that a lot of jazz forms originated in america, regardless of race, or steryotype, or origin, it blossomed in america. and i cant self righteously correct myself because i believe all ive said is how anyone can make beutiful music, regardless of race, its somethiing that grows in the soul.
@pillaisachin hmm.. actually i wasn't talking about blues, i was talking about jazz in general: be-bop, swing, ect. plus i dont have anything against anyone, but i can tell that you have strong racist judgments about people you dont know. i hope for your sake you can realize that everyone is equal.
*Where is the melody?* I bet all of the songs sound alike. Was this created by Africans and imported to Cuban music, or was it stolen by the Africans from Cuban music?
@samopdrift Pretty much so, but the "blacks' that so greatly influenced jazz music were slave for the greater amount of there life, most were born in America, so even though there backrounds were European and African, there souls were purley American: hey dont listen to me though, im just a 14 year old kid XD
that's a ridiculous statement to make about music. I understand that you are espousing strong sentiments regarding the beautiful music of Africa. I share those those strong feelings and find African music deeply spiritual and beautiful. However, I think to say "Africa is the richest continent" in regards to music is way off. How exactly are you defining rich?
@ShabazzAllah1 first off, i would like you to try and tell Barack Obama that he is not american, second of all, it doesnt matter if your black or white, we are all the same, no matter what you say, we all have equal oppurtunities to do great things with our lives, third and lastley, music comes from the soul, anyone can create music, so how dare you say that only a select few of us can make music becuase there skin is a diffrent color
@LOCCH8901 please child! read your earlier statement. Don't try to self righteously correct yourself now that you've been told. I'm not racist honestly, I just cant stand yanks who try to take credit for anything and everything under the sun.

Rollin...!
@pillaisachin i also have no doubt that this music is purely from the heart and soul of africa, but my comment was directed toward something else
