I live in Baltimore and the FSK bridge collapse is massively unfortunate to say the least. From everything I have heard it seems VERY likely the ship massively malfunctioned. A bridge is not an immovable object but that boat at that time was an unstoppable force.
Definitely malfunctioned catastrophically. The crew issued a mayday call minutes before it hit that allowed authorities to close the bridge. Which is why, incredibly, there are only 6 deaths. Workers who were doing repairs and maintenance.
The San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge was struck by a container ship (Chinese, I believe) several years ago. Here the structure is on artificial islands that are heavily reinforced most probably to earthquake concerns. The ship came out on the bad end, but not sinking. The Francis Key Bridge looked like it needed reinforcements as does a lot of infrastructure in our country.

Yes if a kid is unsupervised they can start an account at any age. I guess parents would have to have parental supervision software on the kid's phone and computer. That way they could prevent any downloads of applications they didn't want their kid interacting with. It doesn't seem like it should be a law. But whatever. I don't have any kids that age and I'm not in Florida. Thank heavens on both counts. 😊

I'm torn between him and Desi. Jordan I think is ultra-polarizing but the classical fit. Desi has such a solid sarcastic delivery in tune with Stewart with just about the right break in scripted moments. Honestly, if the cast could agree with it, I think the rolling host works for the show. Granted, it's a salary, ego, and agent nightmare. Dulce's appearances in other media seems to indicate there is internal strife with Stewart's return. Even though it seems to be to set order again after Noah's chaotic leave.
That would work for about 10 seconds until that 12-year old told somebody else they were on social media and BAM, now you're off. Plus, it wouldn't be that hard for social media companies to use census data and determine the public's age if they wanted to. Heck, with most Facebook accounts, I could find out the age of about everyone within 6 degrees of separation of me. It'd be even easier for a social media company to do that. That doesn't even include language level analysis, requiring documentation to start a social media account, etc that should also occur. Just because social media is run irresponsibly by a bunch of millionaires doesn't mean it couldn't actually be run properly to prevent problems if they cared.

I live in Baltimore and the FSK bridge collapse is massively unfortunate to say the least. From everything I have heard it seems VERY likely the ship massively malfunctioned. A bridge is not an immovable object but that boat at that time was an unstoppable force.
Definitely malfunctioned catastrophically. The crew issued a mayday call minutes before it hit that allowed authorities to close the bridge. Which is why, incredibly, there are only 6 deaths. Workers who were doing repairs and maintenance.

The San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge was struck by a container ship (Chinese, I believe) several years ago. Here the structure is on artificial islands that are heavily reinforced most probably to earthquake concerns. The ship came out on the bad end, but not sinking.
The Francis Key Bridge looked like it needed reinforcements as does a lot of infrastructure in our country.

I think he would too. I truly believe Jordan Klepper, Hassan Minhaj, and Kal Penn are the three candidates that are most deserving of the role. However, I don't see that happening because TDS making another straight white male the host might not be something they want to do because of how it would look. The eventually host should be given the job because they are truly the best.

Actually that Newsmax clip about the bridge being old was exactly right. I've personally been witness to a barge colliding with a bridge, that didn't full collapse like that one did. It's awful that a collision happened, but ailing and dilapidated structural integrity is absolutely a factor in this tragedy.

You should ask yourself why we don't have more late night hosts who are women or non-white. We had the Amber Ruffin show before it was cancelled. Discrimination got us here my friend. Go take a look at the executives at these networks... you'll see a theme.

Yes if a kid is unsupervised they can start an account at any age. I guess parents would have to have parental supervision software on the kid's phone and computer. That way they could prevent any downloads of applications they didn't want their kid interacting with. It doesn't seem like it should be a law. But whatever. I don't have any kids that age and I'm not in Florida. Thank heavens on both counts. 😊

I say put Desi Lydic on the desk and put Jordan out in the field and have them both on every episode.
I'm torn between him and Desi. Jordan I think is ultra-polarizing but the classical fit. Desi has such a solid sarcastic delivery in tune with Stewart with just about the right break in scripted moments. Honestly, if the cast could agree with it, I think the rolling host works for the show. Granted, it's a salary, ego, and agent nightmare.
Dulce's appearances in other media seems to indicate there is internal strife with Stewart's return. Even though it seems to be to set order again after Noah's chaotic leave.

That's partially the point. The ban would put parents in the position of liability.
That would work for about 10 seconds until that 12-year old told somebody else they were on social media and BAM, now you're off. Plus, it wouldn't be that hard for social media companies to use census data and determine the public's age if they wanted to.
Heck, with most Facebook accounts, I could find out the age of about everyone within 6 degrees of separation of me. It'd be even easier for a social media company to do that. That doesn't even include language level analysis, requiring documentation to start a social media account, etc that should also occur.
Just because social media is run irresponsibly by a bunch of millionaires doesn't mean it couldn't actually be run properly to prevent problems if they cared.
