To me, an Artic entry is essential. We had them in the North-US. It helps so much with wind & cold. With our skill set I think you could build a makeshift door with left over lumber. Cover it with a couple sheets of the house wrap paper and some hinges. This will help immediately until you can find a permanent door to your liking. Also, I think the open porch would do nicely being screened in for bug-free summer weather. House looks so good.
Looks GREAT! IMHO, don't put that side window in. You can put your solar systems there, easier access to outside panels, wiring, generator etc. Then you can build storage/cold storage along that kitchen wall, top to bottom. Or vice versa.
@@ouralaskahomestead I agree 100% to only one window ,in the front wall with beautiful cedar trim . Will really make it stand out, plus the side wall will be much better for solar, or whatever. It'll also hold the heat better for winter. Looks absolutely fabulous . You're coming along in leaps and bounds, WELL DONE Craig & Chandra 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👍👌✌️👏✝️🇺🇸
Nice mudroom I really like it what a good idea too. And the door does not have to be store-bought you could probably build a beautiful door. just a thinking out loud.
If you consider doing metal siding (like the roof), at the bottom of your exterior walls, maybe to the bottom of windows, then you can use a similar flashing (to the one at your wall to porch roof) where you are concerned with snow at the front wall of the artic entry….
It looks great guy's :) Winter is here to stay, It will be an awesome extra space for porch 👍, You will have to a vaper barrier on the floor to stop heat from going down & insulate underside of the deck to keep the cold away from the floor,
@@anetzband1383 even not being insulted or finished its helping to keep the wind out. Once the door and insulation is in I think it’s going to be great!
A benefit of having a UA-cam channel is the ideas you get mid-build. I do like the idea of sacrificing a window in favor of built-in storage. If you need the light, you could consider transom windows that are used in upscale sheds. The cedar colored trim really pops with the siding in place. Great video.
@@sallyberry4456 the suggestions are always welcome and its nice to hear viewer experience and recommendations so we can tweak our plans to what works better.
It's looking good. With T=111 it is a good idea to seal the top and bottom edges with paint before you put it up. You want to waterproof those edges to keep the moisture out. I know, it's cold out and not easy. Thanks for sharing
Hey guys. You should be super proud of your beautiful house. You have definitely done a wonderful job. I’m so happy to have been apart of your channel since the beginning. Very clean beautiful work you’ve done. Beautiful property. Great job on that as well. Keeping the property looking so nice throughout the build. Take care. Catch you in the next one. 🩵🤍🩵🌬️

@@kathleenalleman2373 that is the correct spelling. Yes, Craig usually does these projects while I’m at the hospital so you don’t see much of my work around the house. Thanks for watching.
Wow , what a difference that makes. You're going to love it. One suggestion is to put a water catch under your water tank. So it keeps your wood from getting wet. 😊
Suggestion: Place the water tank on atleast 2 side by side wooden pieces.. not only it will keep the tank of your flooring, if in future it leaks or you want to empty the tank.. it will be easier to move the thing on a trolley and out the building.
Loving it! Even unfinished its cutting back on nearly all the wind that used to come in the house when the door is opened. Once it’s insulated and the outside door is in, it’ll work perfectly.
Looks great! I wonder.. if you're taking your boots off in that area then you have to walk back the same way to get into the house. No criticism, just something to consider.
Valid point. We do have house shoes we wear. With four dogs the floor is always a struggle to keep clean. Luckily this property has great drainage so we don’t have much mud but I still need to buy stock in Swiffer mops 😆
Looks good, so much extra space. Are you going to put anything else on the floor to keep the cold from coming up the cracks? Now you also have someplace to put a small freezer.

We decided on a sage green. Unfortunately it’s too cold for the paint now so it’ll have to stay beige for a few more months. I can’t wait to see it done though!
Looks great! You can still sister in 2x4's or 2x6's in over the steps to extend the water drippings and resultant ice on that bottom step..Make the entry much safer.
