Alf (Arabic) = 1000
Lail meaning night.
Alf Lail means 1000 nights, not Arabian nights.
The extra lail makes it 1000+1=1001 nights.
Hence Alf lail lail.
The name Alif Laila is a short form of the original Arabic title of the One Thousand and One Nights - Alif Layla wa-Layla (Arabic: ألف ليلة وليلة).

If I get the oil version, is this spray version a redundant? Or still a good option to go for, to wear on its own or combining the two at times?
Oil version and this edp version both smells same.. if you have oil then no need to go for this...

Nicely explained, thank you. I have this one, al shams and ajmal moattaq on my short list to get. How would you rate them in terms of acquiring priority? Again I’m not afraid of oud, so strong scent does not put me off. Thanks
If you really like strong Oud then go for Dehn al Oud Shams Special Edition ... and if we talk about the priority then get Mukhallat al Shams first then for Moattaq 👍🙂
