"I'm right on top of that, Rose!" was a frequent phrase in my circle of friends. Occasionally, I still say "Dishes are done, man." RIP Christopher Pettiet.
Thank you featuring Newsies and Swing Kids. Two Christian Bale movies that deserve the recognition. I don't care what anybody says, those two movies are still awesome today.
Younger Xennial here May 1983. This channel has been a joy to watch. Brought back many memories. I sometimes feel like I relate to Gen X more since my older sisters exposed me to much more than the typical Xennial, and seeing as they were born in 1973, I witnessed them in their teenage years in the 1980s. The big hair, the aquanet, the malls, the parking lot parties. I feel like I missed out sometimes but I wouldn't change anything.
“The dishes are done, Man!” My wife hates it when I quote that line. I tend to replace “dishes” with just about anything that I complete off the “honey do” list.
The Ref (1994)! I am genuinely shocked that this movie hasn't gotten a revival yet. Nobody knows about this movie and it really should be a Christmas classic. It would be great reaction fodder and I don't get why it hasn't caught on. Also, The Negotiator (1998).
Muriel's Wedding is one of my favourite films. The Australians are great at doing these 'slice of life'fiilms, grim reality but with great humour. I am Scottish and I see the same kind of thing in UK films. I still say ' You' re terrible Muriel'😆. As for that ending, it cheers me up just to think about Muriel and Rhonda' s friendship and their excitement about a better life. Some other great films from the era were Priscilla Queen of the Desert, East is East, Evita and My Cousin Vinny. Oh and one I haven't seen for years, but I loved it at the time, Shallow Grave. It was directed by Danny Boyle and starred a young Ewan McGregor.
the conspiracist in me absolutely "knows" why PCU isn't available to stream, and it's likely the same reason that some (of the best) SNL episodes from the '70s and '80s aren't available in the NBC collection to stream.
Yeah, treating people like actual humans with independent emotions sure is a strain on white people, huh? Thanks making it easy to leave this community.
Loved Newsies, I had a huge crush on David Moscow. Thank you for putting PCU in here, it was one of my favorites but like no one's heard of it and I started to believe it was a fever dream I had. Swing Kids never fails to make me cry. I remember once I rented Election, Dick and Jawbreaker, it was a good weekend. Empire Records, I still honor Rex Manning day.
Fellow Xennial here! We came of Age in such a glorious time. No social Media. Life was so much sweeter. I love your channel. It has been a source of much amusement and fond memories. Especially in days when adulting is much more difficult than it should be. I freaking LOVE PCU. Best movie ever. I have thought about it so many times as college campuses lose their cry baby minds! 🤨 😂

Paul Metzler You Betzler, lol. Dead Presidents, The Stoned Age, Brain Candy, Ed and his Dead Mother, are just a few 90's flicks that deserve more attention
I first watched The Little Rascals on ABC Family. About a year later, my dad bought me a DVD set of the pre-MGM Our Gang shorts. My exposure to Our Gang, The Wizard of OZ, and TCM as a little kid helped spawn my lifelong love of older movies.
I just remember every girl asking what the song was they played in Father of the Bride as she walked the aisle (Canon in D), and that pretty much every movie wedding since uses that song now
Born in December 79, xennial too! It was a weird time to grow up🤪 Loved some of your suggestions , and remember seeing them when they came out or rented from blockbuster or Kroger(anyone else remember when Kroger had videos and DVDs to rent) My faves were Don’t Tell Mom, Speed(pop quiz hotshot, Newies(fine life carring the banner), FB 2, Election, Empire Record( ykyk), Swing Kids, the Little Rascals (oookay) This truly is an impressive list , you have great taste, looking forward to the next

Ah Don’t tell mom the babysitter’s dead! I love that one 😍 The cutting edge, Delirious, World’s oldest living bridesmaid…I also like one called Bridesmaids but I think that one is from 89. I love your channel 😁
So I Love Father of The Bride, both the old Black & white film and the Steve Martin remake. However, Father of the Bride II is extra special to me and my family. My oldest brother had just told us he & his wife was expecting their first baby days before we rented this from the video store. My dad was laughing and said something about how that wouldn't happen in real life and my mom was getting more and more upset as dad laughed and enjoyed the film... At one point we had to pause the film so dad could check on mom to see why she was angry with him. Us younger kids weren't supposed to know but it was obvious, mom was pregnant and didn't think it was a joke. My baby brother and oldest nephew are 6 weeks a part and we can all laugh and enjoy the film years all these years later.
It is a shame more people aren’t talking about the film ‘Election’. I’ve probably watched it at least 50 times since it was first released and it’s in my top ten favorite films of all time. There is absolutely nothing I can say that is wrong with this film - It’s as close to a perfect film as it gets. The writing, the performances, the directing. Absolutely hilarious, right down to the brilliant ending, (which I am glad they changed from the book).
Loved these! Dont forget Captain Ron, adventures in babysitting, pure country,my girl, little giants, the war, drop dead fred,i could go on but i guess i should just wait for the next episode.youre doing amazing! So happy you made this!!
There are lots of films that don't get the attention they deserve but I'm interesting in the ones that were seemingly huge and are seemingly forgotten. For example, Pacific Heights and to a lesser extent Sleeping With The Enemy. Two really good thrillers that always seemed to be on TV in the 90's. The former stars Matthew Modine and Melanie Griffith as a couple plagued by possibly the worst live-in tenant that's ever existed. The latter is one woman's attempt to break away from her abusive husband which doesn't sound like the plot of a thriller but it is. I'm glad you mentioned the swing craze of the early 90's. I think it probably started with Memphis Belle which, at least in Britain, proceeded Jive Bunny's SwIng The Mood, a medley of old songs featuring the Glenn Miller song In The Mood, being a number one single. I think Swing Kids helped that cross over to the US and the rest is history
There's a movie called "Bullet" from 1996 staring Tupac Shukur and Mickey Rouke and I don't know why but it is so hard to find it's not on any of the streaming channels and I can only find limited DVD availability which is crazy to me because it is an awesome movie and it's not any more radical than anything that has came out in the same time. So I don't understand why it's so hard to find but I'm sure you have probably heard of it because you have heard of everything your channel is awesome I enjoy watching it I subscribed and have encouraged others to subscribe to it I love what you're doing I love the channel keep up the good work and thank you
I saw this in a movie about a bus has to speed, around the city - keeping it's speed over 50, and if it's speed dropped it would explode - I think it was called The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down
I remember seeing _Our Gang_ and _Three Stooges_ shorts on television back in the 1970's. Back then, television stations weren't totally opposed to showing stuff that was still black and white. Later, they totally rejected stuff in black and white. That's kind of sad.
Thank you for mentioning Father of the Bride part 1 and 2. It was one of my favorite movies of the 1990s. But please don't downplay my favorite show on Hulu only murders in the building. Steve Martin and Martin Short has truly found their niche together in this comedy. Together they can't help but to shine, especially when you add in Selena Gomez.
We watched PCU constantly in college (95-99), and thought it was a fun stoner movie that was an absurd exaggeration! 😂 I could never (then or now) go to a school like that.
Got to throw in "Death becomes Her" and "Nothing but Trouble". Great comedy Gems. Also some Disney gems like "Heavyweights", "The mighty Ducks" (side note the flying V never works in hockey lol), and "Little Giants".
I saw Father of the Bride just once when it first came out and the main thing I remember is the "nahvy blue tuxahdo". Swing Kids is well worth including on this list.
Not too long ago, when both Steve Martin and Martin Short hosted SNL together, they wound up doing a Father of the Bride sketch, where they brought back their old characters. Apparently they had George's daughter getting married again, and because of how recent it was, they were trying to get Selena Gomez to perform at the reception. Whatever works, I guess.
Father of the Bride is a remake (1950 Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor). Father of the Bride Part II is a remake (Father's Little Dividend 1951 - Spencer Tracy, Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor) Cheaper by the Dozen is remake (and awful one at that. The original [1950 - Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy] is based on the real-life story of The Gilbreth Family. Frank Gilbreth, Sr., was a pioneer in the field of motion study. Lillian Gilbreth: one of the first female engineers to earn a Ph.D., is considered to be the first industrial/organizational psychologist). The Money Pit is a remake (The 1946 comedy novel 'Mr. Blanding's Builds his Dream House' written by Eric Hodgins was adapted as a film by the same name and released in 1948, starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy). You've Got Mail is a remake (The Shop Around the Corner 1940 - James Stewart and Margaret Sullivan). The Parent Trap is a remake. Some Gen X'er you are.
Um ok?! So when I said there were “many” versions of father of the bride, but the 1991 version was my favorite, that came across to you as I didn’t know about the original? lol. I literally played the mom character in a stage version of the Tracy version. Not only am I aware of it, I know many of the lines by heart.
My idea for a Legally Blonde movie is that Elle Woods runs for President. Her opponent in the election needs to be equally intelligent and driven but lacking in Elle's moral character. It should be Tracy Flick, and of course Reese Witherspoon would play both roles.
As Good As It Gets (97); Servants of Twilight (91); Darkman (90); Pleasantville (98); Now and Then (95); and Mask of the Phantasm (93). Loved the Little Rascals and Election but haven't seen the other 9 on your list.

I don't know if it's on any of your lists, but assuming you haven't seen it, I can't recommend the movie "Clockwatchers" enough. I can't say that it's comedic, but it is certainly a very dark and very believable look at into the lives of temps working in corporate America.
There were quite a few books calling out the colleges and their "political correctness" back in the early 1990's. Thomas Sowell had a book called _Inside American Education_. You shouldn't be shocked by what is happening now, if you have been paying attention.
The original _Father of the Bride_ starred Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor. The sequel was called _Father's Little Dividend_. I may watch the later ones. Steve Martin can be great. I've just never been fond of remakes, and it's hard to outdo Spencer Tracy.
I actually played the mom role in the stage version of Father of the Bride based on the Spencer Tracy version when I was in high school! It’s a great version for its time, but I love me some Steve Martin 😊.
@mysocalledgenxlife Thank you for the suggestions. When you're finished making this group of presentations (101 90's movies) will you edit it together to make one full length presentation?
Well, I have seen some of these reacted to, and I could do a rewatch for some... If I gave you credit and linked your video, challenge accepted? Would also include your 80's episode and the rest of the 90's series... Gives our channel a starting point, and you get reactions! Win win. Every film chosen from your lists, gets you a shout out and engagement as well... What do you think?
Girl you're not the only one that mixes up Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman cuz I did the exact same thing before you said it. Whatever happened to Bill Pullman? Anyway, he's amazing
x Newsies - My first daily job was as a Paper Boy (when I was 10 or 11) x Election - That was shot in Omaha, it was at the school as a college mate of mine (I live in Nebraska too btw) x I added Presumed Innocent, Swing Kids, and Muriel's Wedding to my September Watchlist! o Other than those three, I have watched all of the other eight.
Don't tell mom the baby sitter is Dead. That's muder in the back yard. Because in real life she would've went to jail for hiding a body. And never telling anyone. For a week
It’s so much fun! I kinda stumbled into doing it and now I’m making like 10 videos about it 😂. Make your own version with the 2000s and 2010s. That would be great!
swing kids. the movie that revived big-band swing dance. i used to have so much big-band on lacquer because of this movie. sadly i lost my collection in a move. they didn't make it into the moving truck and the landlord was a dishonest so-and-so.

The movie swing kids had such a societal effect. Actually brought about a subculture of modern swing. Lots of solid memories there
“The dishes are done, Man!” My wife hates it when I quote that line. I tend to replace “dishes” with just about anything that I complete off the “honey do” list.

I remember lots great movies I have some this in DVD and Blu-ray
I also vote for Singles and L.A. Story. I wish more people would react to those.
Muriel's WEdding is indeed 90s treasure.
I don't know if it's on any of your lists, but assuming you haven't seen it, I can't recommend the movie "Clockwatchers" enough. I can't say that it's comedic, but it is certainly a very dark and very believable look at into the lives of temps working in corporate America.
Loved, Doug , growing up.
There were quite a few books calling out the colleges and their "political correctness" back in the early 1990's. Thomas Sowell had a book called _Inside American Education_. You shouldn't be shocked by what is happening now, if you have been paying attention.
I love Thomas Sowell. Black Rednecks and White Liberals and Vision of the Annointed are the two that I have read. Fantastic!
It was nice to see Christina Applegate play the smart girl, in contrast to the airhead Kelly Bundy.
Let’s Watch PCU together!
I actually watched ‘Father of the Bride 1 & 2’ last weekend.
Once I get my streaming going, I will definitely do that! Hopefully will have my studio set up by the end of the summer.
awesome list!
yes to viewing parties!!
The dishes are done, man!
I remember when PCU was reran nonstop on Comedy Central 😂😂😂😂
_Presumed Innocent_ always makes me think of an old sketch from The Kids in the Hall. "Evil, evil, EVIL!" 😈 (iykyk)
Now and then!
@mysocalledgenxlife
Thank you for the suggestions. When you're finished making this group of presentations (101 90's movies) will you edit it together to make one full length presentation?
Yes. I definitely will. I got a bit sidetracked from that series, but I will get back to it soon! Thanks for the comment.
You hit PCU out of the park.
"The dishes are done, man!"
Legends of the Fall ❤❤❤❤
I just checked and PCU is available on DVD on Amazon. No bluray though.
1994 and 1997 could get their own multiple chapters.
The Little Rascals had bang on casting
PCU was how I got to know my wife. She worked at a video store and recommended it to me. That was 1996. We're still together.
Hopefully Stay Tuned is on a future list
A+ video!
Awesome picks!
You can rent anything ever made across the multiple streaming services, except PCU 🤔
Was not expecting to see Muriel's Wedding on this list, Another good 90s aussie movie is The Castle, have you seen it?
x Newsies - My first daily job was as a Paper Boy (when I was 10 or 11)
x Election - That was shot in Omaha, it was at the school as a college mate of mine (I live in Nebraska too btw)
x I added Presumed Innocent, Swing Kids, and Muriel's Wedding to my September Watchlist!
o Other than those three, I have watched all of the other eight.
I did not like "Muriel's Wedding". The trailers made it seem like a fun movie with ABBA music and instead it made me depressed!
I would love your take on Man in the Moon.
Welcome to Music Town. May I service you?
PCU was actually a documentary
I own a copy of PCU as well...
Brad Paisley apparently fell in love with Kimberly Williams when he saw _Father of the Bride_. They have a successful marriage now.
I love the Newsies too.
Will you talk about Kuffs?!
I might just do that! Gotta have at least one Christian Slater movie on a 90s movie list.
Don't tell mom the baby sitter is Dead. That's muder in the back yard. Because in real life she would've went to jail for hiding a body. And never telling anyone. For a week
I'll add these to the list, I kinda want to make my own version of this with 2000s and 2010s movies
That you for reminding me that Presummed Innocent exists.
Funny, I think there's a new version out with Jake Gylenhaal (on Apple TV+)
Nothing to Lose 💕
I had the biggest crush on Chris Young!
Also Jersey girl (1992) but tbh when I watched it as an adult I found it creepy. That girl was stalking not being romantic. Rich men single women
