- Retrofitted my exploration ship with the ability to build and launch several types of orbital drop pods. It is neat!

Grrrrrrr, I never even knew the small grid cryo chamber existed; now I discover it came as a part of a DLC I have had for over 2 years, Thanks a lot Bunny, now I have to spend time going through my DLCs to see what they do have.

I always make something like this in survival. It’s part of my goals in that mode. The difficulties involved is what makes it not “slow creative”

Should have made gravity generators near the pod at maximum power . It would act like a launch tube.
I tried this - though had some clang-y issues at the time (and when moving). This is a rather old build, so I'm not sure how it would work now, but I'm curious enough to try it. Save on some components if I don't need engines :)
@@BunnyHeartedVT maybe a countdown turn off the generator after around 40 seconds or less. Ive made a launch tube no clang . Maybe because it was on a station.

using the cryopod is a great idea! i tried my own hand at this awhile ago, mine was an impactor sort of type. it would be nice if they added drogue chutes..
you can add small connectors next to the merge blocks, that connect using an event controller to lock that particular connector whenever a new block is added
the faint halo music is amazing

Not sure if landing on a planet with near no resources is a good idea, but damn that drop pod is cool!
Also, I feel like the low setting actually make the clip look more realistic. Plus the sun blocking the visibility is a tad too accurate ;D
Yeah, there's a second pod with a survival kit that was more useful - this whole build was basically setup so I could sneak around, scout out bases, and cause trouble on a friend's server without being easily spotted and intercepted. I think if I were to remake this build, there are a lot of changes I'd make to streamline things and make it more efficient. Especially thanks to the block collision changes from a while back.
I think you can just scrap the pod for resources.

Thats an interesting way to employ drop pods. Print them. Man them. Then drop them. Makes life and mother ship design much simpler!
This is a rather old build, but overall this is a ship I keep coming back to and continue to update and tweak. It's just so convenient, especially with the survival kit pod and the ability to print sneaky scout drones. The design of the pods has changed since this too, so maybe I should upload a new version to the workshop one of these days...

How quickly do the parachutes stop the pod when activated? I might build something similar to this to drop onto turret infested buildings and plan to self-activate them, which might cause problems if the parachutes don't stop the pod quickly.

I think that the parachutes are a weakness since you will get obliterated during the slow drop down maybe thruster?
