I've seen a lot of good players in a lot of fighting games.. but there will never be another person to do what ninjakilla did with Liu Kang in MKX.. im still going back to those videos cause of how ridiculous he was there.. The first time I saw his Liu Kang i thought he was hacking or something..
I mean honestly I can understand why he uses it. I'm pretty sure Liu Kang has no natural Overheads so all you have to do is block low. Normal grabs are too noticeable but the command grab is way faster and harder to react to. That way he can open the people up for combos because they would be trying to predict the grab by low ducking. It may be a bit cheesy but it's just the best option honestly.

Kung Lao is my fav....but as a life long Martial art student fan researcher....I noticed that He lacked much variation in different kicking techniques and range of motion when it comes to mobility of a shaolin performer ....they are the smoothest when it comes to using the whole body as a weapon..

Amazing king lao. One of the best Iv seen. Here is some criticism as another kunglao main. He uses a lot of meter randomly with no purpose. He also doesn’t take advantage of his strings once you’re in a combo. He should be doing 30%-40% damage when he gets you in a combo. Also I don’t see him utilizing the down down 4. It helps with spacing and can give a free combo 50% of the times. He also uses a lot of dead end strings. Strings that when finish leaves you open to get wrecked. He does have a lot of good strings and combo mix ups. Me personally I’m not a huge fan of the z hat string but it’s really good for pressure the canceling part all the time is more of a fancy use of it in my opinion. There’s better things you can do instead of using meter for that like using that meter to extend combos. None the less amazing vid. Would like to see more of that kunglao player
Thanks for the feedback and ninjakilla definitely made me respect a lot here, though I think you're missing the point of the cancel. The cancel is supposed to get my opponent to react to it and then I punish what they do. The cancel is unreactable so it causes my opponent to do only what they intrinsically know in turn allowing me to always get a solid base of thought for each read. That being said I did it too much here and needed to play more solid.
I agree with your take , he was using too much cancel , and then there were some unsafe strings here and there. I think more focus should be made on trying to mixing up the opponent for an opening
GGs both of you played well. I'd say he gave you more space to attack and you were careful and annoying with it especially with the grapple. Lao used to be my main but he's my secondary after kabal. Lao is very quick but doesn't have a lot of low overhead mixups making him a bit predictable. His forward punch is the best opener and his spin which connects the combos is very insecure and countrable easily with an air escape then any fast attack will catch it.
