Loudmax is as clean as it gets, my mixes have vastly improved by using them on buses and master.

I agree, it's not the best, but i feel like it doesn't really ruin the song, i just pray LOL that the peaks get compressed correctly without distorting or screwing up the song etc

Is it just me... but that FRONTIER is SO FULL SOUNDING! W1 is great but lacks in the low end. The Frontier and LoudMax were my fav in this. What do you think about the Frontier Limiter?

Another great survey of free mastering plugins - very much appreciated. Your explanation of Limited No6 was particularly useful, as I was unsure of some of its functions.
One question - what plugin are you using to see whether or not distortion / harmonics are being introduced by the various mastering plugins?

Hey TL, thanks for your comment! We're using a utility sine wave generator, and setting it to 200Hz. Then after the sine wave runs through the plugin, we're using a frequency analyzer to measure the added harmonics.

I have tested all of them exept Limiter Z, it`s now on my to do list.
My favorite of free limiters so far is TLs Pocket Limiter
by TbT.
Neutral? No, but it sounds great.
I use it in Reaper, and use Reapers UI because it allows smaller steps in the settings.
Boost 11 by Cakewalk is also pretty good if you use 12db LP and HP after.
