Sickkk! Thanks for taking us on that ride with you! We get to see a side of Bimini no one shows! That make shift “Bimini top” even matched the boat! 😂 Those sunset shots were insane! Sick video brother! 🤙🍻
Dude, love your shows. I’m in the hospital with cancer. Their channels on tv suck, but I can watch you on you tube. Makes me happy to see all that clear water and your adventures.
Um… sir, you said there would be a new video coming out, I am done waiting, what the heck am I supposed to watch?!?! I’ve watched em all like 3 times 😝
Yeewww! Thank you Mark, much appreciated! I certainly do love it there and daydream on a daily basis about when I’ll be there next ( true story). You’re going to really enjoy this summers vids, and I can hardly wait to share. Cheers!
Other than the little stand up I saw you build when I first found your channel, this has to be my favorite. Repurposing the sailboat allows you so much space on low budget build. The fact it can travel 12” of water and you still have a cabin. Wow. So much potential. Can’t wait for more adventures and upgrades with this thing.
You usually see the turquoise in the clouds before the water color change is visible on the horizon as you come in from deep water... scavenging awesomeness!!!
I can really relate to your love of beachcombing, so many treasures to be found. Your channel is my favorite. I really relate to your self-reliant can-do attitude. Dreamed of sailing around the Bahamas but got old and dropped anchor in Nova Scotia and Vt. instead. Thank you for the great videos.
Been waiting for part 2 so I can see that tidal creek. Didn't know you like to re-use stuff so much. Need to have a special garage sale at my house for you to clear out some space for me.
Hahaha, Yeah, maybe one day i'll do a video of my storage unit. but actually probably not lol. Some call it hoarding, I call it repurposing... even though the things might sit for years! Cheers!
I don't know much about customs and such. It would be nice if you could video the entry and exit from customs, where it is, a little of the first place you stop for gas, etc. I've never seen a video, yet, about how to clear customs in a crossing. Guess I can look on YT but I'd like to see how YOU do it in a homemade boat. Don't you have to register the build? Lots that I, and maybe quite a few other people, don't know how to do. Just a thought. I, too, love to explore the treasures that wash up on the beaches! I lived on Amelia Island, right off the main park on Tarpon Avenue, and would get up before dawn to check out what washed up overnight. Scored hundreds of small sharks teeth, too. Love your videos!
Nice piece of driftwood. It would make two nice glass top end tables. I collect alot of driftwood on the gulf coast and my guess is that it is sinker cypress. Out of place for sure but not impossible.
Thanks Richard! I was thinking the same thing for use, but considering I live in a boat… lol. And right on! That’s been the million dollar question… what kind of wood is it?! Cheers buddy!
I have plans to live on the Florida ICW. I've narrowed my boat choices down to two. A MacGregor without a mast too or a C-Dory 22. Life is a series of trade offs. The trades? More space. An open or inclosed helm. Slightly more top speed.... the least important of the three. Being dry on the fly is a huge positive. Thanks for the GREAT clips. I'm too scared to cross The Gluf Stream. But.... I am enjoying your bravery. I've seen enough of your clips. Your bravery comes from years of experience, avoiding STUPIDITY, preperation and well calculated back up plans. Thanks for the clips. They don't make themselves. I don't even like to take a selfie, nevertheless video after video and editing. Pre-she-ate-it....
Oh wow this is so cool. Any videos on the build of this, the interior setup, costs, top speed and cruising speed, mpg, range, draw, length, width, etc.
What a sick boat!!! I’m sooooo impressed with your skills!!! Thank you for bringing us on the adventure!!! You did about 35% of my dream!! I want to start in NC and take the inter coastal down into Florida maybe going offshore along the way at times and then from Florida crossing into the Bahamas 🇧🇸!!! It’s been a dream since I was a Teen and I will do it!!!! As God as my witness one day I will make that trip!!!
Ok, what kind of boat did that bow eye come off of? BW was my first thought. Or maybe MFG? During your FGCI infomercial you were standing next to your 50MPH skiff, right? It looks like a big Mercury 4S on the skiff. It looks nice with the fresh white paint and the wood grain composite. Anyway, Great Video Forrest! Looking forward to the next one! I love that long, skinny, deep-v skiff. I can’t wait for more coverage on it. You Rock Forrest!
Thank you so much! It really did feel like that. The best part is that it’s so close to Florida. Heck, there’s ferry rides a couple times a week running to Bimini. Such paradise is easily reachable !
Right on Adam, you know it! Hahaha. I’ll totally use that on a skiff one day. I love that all the parts I generally repurpose have a story. I felt like I was probably going to make everyone fall asleep with the beach combing, I only showed about 25% of what I found. 🤦🏻♂️. Cheers buddy!
You are livin your best life..ive always wanted to be on a pristine beach & spend some days. Thank you for your videos, brings back all my amazing memories of when i lived on Grand Bahama- Be your Best self 😊🌴
I just watched this the other day and I was like dang I’ve never seen a sail boat with a motor like that. Then I was in the marina here in Wilmington nc this week and seen the same type boat
Just came across you channel while doing some late night scrolling while I can't sleep! You have gained a subscriber love the content and the beautiful places you share. You seem to be very knowledgeable and easy going. When you travel alone do you ever get concerned about a boat breaking down or something not going to plan? What is your safety plan while traveling alone?
I was your 128th subscriber I love what your doing and where this channel is going I wish you nothing but love and with you millions of subscribers. Great job man
Don't you have to register or check in or something before you hang out in their waters? I love the Bahamas trips. I'm afraid I'd never come back. That water is mesmerizing!
Just found your channel and watched many of your videos. Great job! If I had more room I'd love to embark on projects and trips like you are embarking on. But retirement and small hone and tiny garage are my norm now. Saw that you asked for suggestions for videos, how about a solar/battery powered boat to cross over to the Bahamas? Keep up the great content!
Really enjoyed watching your adventure, the isolation seems perfect to me, no crowded camping there! What is the style of boat you were on? Are there mini solo versions? Steve(67yrs) Manitoba
Thanks so much Steven, I couldn’t agree more! It’s a macgregor 26m I believe is the model. It’s a unique style, planing hull sailboat. :). Thanks for watching!
That water is so beautiful. I’ve been to the Bahamas twice. I would love to go back. I’ve talked to people about converting an old sailboat to a cruising boat. I was told it would be very unstable without the keel. It looks like it did fine. What’s your take on how comfortable it is? Great video!
🌴 Hey Forest , the beach comer walk about is so cool ,all the little treasures, then I got to thinking ( Forest 👈🏻Gump !) the beach is like a box of chocolates ya just never know what your gonna get! 🤣. So I’m a retired boat, yacht builder of 32 yrs one of my first thoughts were there no keel on the ( power-sailer) doesn’t it want to roll is it filled in the bottom with concrete or lead ? And if it was then you wouldn’t even able to shallow draft like your doing 🤔 , now I have to admit this is one crazy build but dude it freak’n works , does it need improvements 🤔 a collapsable Bimini top maybe !, I hope you can close off the cabin to keep bugs and crappy weather out ,on the bow a stainless tube that can accept a collapsible aluminum pool cleaning net handle that could be used to put a clothes line out or optional small sail - just in case- or signal flag ? , is there room between the stringers to install a gas tank ? Now that you’ve run the boat long distance what improvements would you make ? ( smaller motor that wouldn’t eat gas ?) a solar panel with maybe a small power station and LED lights ? Or fridge , power to charge video equipment? 🤔just wondering , hope your doing part three of ( the great escape) Bahamas Style ! 👊🏼👍🏼later 😄
Throw a 15hp 4 stroke on there and enjoy the ride near the designed hull speed of 6.5 knots, you would probably burn around 1/2gal per hour you damn speed daemon 😂. That 2 stroke going above hull speed is going to bankrupt you in fuel costs! Lol Good content and great attitude!

Just wanna say Foreset is as cool off camera as he is on, Stand up guy and man of many talents!! thanks for working on Tacoma with me!
Haha thanks Noah! I really appreciate this buddy! Tacoma’s looking awesome btw! Cheers!
Yeee haw! What an epic expedition rig
Yeah buddy! Can’t wait for our first trip ! 😎👊🏼
Omg, the end tables I could make out of that hunk of driftwood! I would NOT have left bimini without it.
Also, this is one of your best videos. I absolutely love the mix of DIY and Adventure.
Hahaha right ?! There was no way I was leaving that behind!
And thank you so much, I’m stoked to hear you enjoyed this style vid! Cheers!
Great video. Your videos are an escape for me while I work. I provides me the opportunity to glance over to see the beautiful scenery and your skills.
Dude, love your shows. I’m in the hospital with cancer. Their channels on tv suck, but I can watch you on you tube. Makes me happy to see all that clear water and your adventures.

You are the first to post a video of taking a macgregor 26M to the Bahamas from Florida.
3:20 FGCI, hook Forrest up with a new house for the decorations!! Haha, sick video once again 😅
Oh man hahaha, you crack me up buddy! So I actually live on a boat, no house needed/wanted! Cheers!
I really like the transformations to the old sail boats made into skiffs and really like you helping the communities over there 😊
great series so far!
Enjoyed that beach combing and seeing more of that boat in action! Some great finds for sure. I can tell you love it there. Live it up, yew!!!

I know EXACTLY what kind of a craft that chunk came off of! A destroyed boat! 😎
You live the life everyone wants! Best channel vibes on UA-cam. Keep up the great videos.

I agree, that's the perfect vacation. That's a bucket list trip for me, just surrounded by nature and the ocean.
Keep up the great work! You've got the perfect personality for these types of videos. You'll blow up soon enough!
Absolutely love your channel man!
You need a wind screen/filter for your camera!
Much love! Will keep liking and watching!

Yeahhh buddy!!! The ocean always provides!!
Yep, right when I saw the D ring on that bow piece I thought you will finding a way to get that hardware. Solid beach combing score.
Right on Adam, you know it! Hahaha. I’ll totally use that on a skiff one day. I love that all the parts I generally repurpose have a story.

Absolutely love the channel. I’m dying to make this trip one day. Thank you for bringing us along. Do you ever work on aluminum boats?
Great video! Could we provide location of part 1, for the transformation of this boat, thank you

Enjoying this series. Do you fish much on trips like this one?
Give us a tour of the boat
It’s coming in a near future video! Cheers
Request: could you show a budget, glassed pilot house build 😅
Throw a 15hp 4 stroke on there and enjoy the ride near the designed hull speed of 6.5 knots, you would probably burn around 1/2gal per hour you damn speed daemon 😂. That 2 stroke going above hull speed is going to bankrupt you in fuel costs! Lol Good content and great attitude!
Yes, about 10mpg at around 6mph using a 4 stroke
If he stays below Hull speed, he could use the ballast tank for a 110 gallon emergency water supply.
It's a planing hull, look it up
I really like that coat. Best ever. I was thinking about doing that. Like one of the other commenters said how stable is it? It looks just fine.
You should do an update on the micro skiff you built
O day Mariner 19, what do you think about a conversion to skiff on this boat? Iv got a 50hp 2 stroke for it. Worried i would do it and it wouldn't be enough power to achieve planing speed.
new subroutines here 🤚. is there a build video for this boat. just sat down today and thought about building a similar one. pretty good prices for sailboats here in Sweden 😁.
nice!
Thank you Michael! Always appreciate it!
I want to make a boat like that out of a Catalina 22. When you removed the centerboard, did it hurt the stability?
Id give anything to leave this office n explore with you!
Hello sir, I’m looking at a 24 foot sail boat I think is keel-less. I want to do like you have done and just put an outboard on it. How did you do that with this sail boat. I would like to put something more than a 10 horse. Worried about how to hang it on the transom.
Do you actually have to plug the center board? Or was this a choice?
I'm working on a similar cheapo-trawler, mine is an older '78 Macgregor 25'. Only paid $250 for mine w/ trailer, sold sail parts for $240... Got an 8 hp 4 stroke cheap to push it. It will never sail again, I sawed out the transom and built a motor well. Swing keel fixed in up position, only draws 16". Economical cruiser sleeps 5 for less than $1000...
That boat you have is an oddball, the only sailboat ever designed to plane on power (they claimed you could ski with 50 HP). Water ballast you can pump out for power boat mode, shallow draft. But I gotta say, she's kinda homely... those windows are strange.
Dude so cool. How to contact you down there in Florida? I wanna do just that thing you just did.
Dont those have a water balist? Maybe that's why the boat lists so much?
Can you organize a group of boaters to do that trip? I am in
Did you have to check in to customs when you arrived their?
Always. It’s a must with Customs and immigration. 👍🏻
The nose from that watercraft is from the SS Minnow.
Any issues with customs from the Bahamian or US govt? Hate to see you get tagged by either one.
Hi there, I’m not really understanding what kind of issues you’re referring to? I’ve come across United States CBP and Bahamian Defense Force multiple times through the years. They’re always good spirited , many watch the channel and a majority of the time genuinely interested in how I travel in such small skiffs. 😎
how do you battle the no seum bugs?
What G.P.S app do u use
Looks like the front of a Dolphin. Possibly a Lodge
How the heck did you find a 26M For $1,000?
Missing a ton of parts/ no sailing rig , no trailer, and the owner was urgently needing to get rid of it. Lucky me :)
Dude! 🎉 love this! I need to come down and ride over there with you!
Thanks so much!! And Hahaha, the only problem is I never know exact days I’m leaving, I give myself 1-2 week windows. And if weather isn’t to my liking, I scratch the trip. :/
@@diywaterworld, I love your videos. Could you teach us what it takes to predict and cross the Gulf Stream in calm waters the way you do? Thanks
Is that from a Whaler?
Will you sell it?
How to contact you when i. In florida?
What were to two critters that ran when he lifted up that drift wood log?😬
Hahaha. Right?! Little crabs or some sort of crablike critter! The beauty about Bimini and mist all of The Bahamas is there’s no poisonous critters like what we have in Florida. 😅
Boat tour please
It’s coming !
YOU NEED A 4K CAMERA HOSS
Right?! Haha. Actually, my limitations are my laptop. Up until my very last video, all my uploads have been 720 resolution. My recent “sub build” is actually the first 1080 res video I’ve ever made. :) perhaps by next year I’ll upgrade to 4k! Cheers
all this but no interior shots of the boat i want to buy from you
hahaha, in part 3 i actually will be getting technical and walking everyone through the boat along with my trip logistics, ditch bag, etc. cheers Tyler!
@@diywaterworld let me buy the boat
720p??????
That’s all my old computer can handle :/ hopefully soon I’ll be upgrading. 😎😬 cheers!
Did anyone else’s see the spiders / crabs crawl from behind the driftwood at 7:25?
I bought myself a boat from the police auction $100 customs in the Coast guard the sings it for drugs any results on the sailboat ⛵ I got it from the police auctions
The front fell off
