As for Ellis Island - it not only is in Jersey City, but there is a bridge (not open the the public) that connects Jersey City to Ellis Island. It is a large enough and strong enough bridge that it handles large trucks to come and go.

If you see Google maps, you can see that the statue is in an enclave. So technically, it is in new york
