African American Counseling and Life Coaching

African Americans face unique experiences and challenges that others do not face in society. Lingering unresolved issues that stem from racism, assimilation, and un-resolved trauma. We do not ignore these challenges and believe that it is important to be able to work with a counselor/ coach that can understand the issues on a personal level. The Diversion Center provides a culturally sensitive environment that will allow our clients to speak without a filter and talk about issues openly. This is important because African Americans have a voice, and we want them to use it. Our objective is to improve our client's perception, self-esteem, value, courage, self-image, and confidence. We teach our clients to LIVE and not exist.
Our counseling approach is simple. We are upbeat, positive, and practice what we preach. We are solution-focused and we do not promote a victim's mentality. With this being said, we listen to our clients and really try to understand where they are coming from. We hold our clients accountable and challenge them when necessary. Our ideal client is serious about change and is an active participant in their growth.
