    Ben responds to your Ben questions:
    Where's Ben?
    Right here at my desk, planning wild and crazy Blade HQ knife things for the year!
    Why is Ben not in the video?
    Good question. I'm scaling back to focus on other parts of my job. Being on UA-cam has never been in my actual job description-- I've been fortunate and grateful to get to have some fun here the past two years, but my real job as the marketing manager requires more time now.
    Wait, so you won't be in the videos now?
    I'm always behind the scenes working out weird knife-y schtuff for the videos, but I won't be on camera much.
    Is Kurt replacing you?
    Sort of? Not really? Yes? I don't think it's a matter of "replacing" anyone. It's the natural progression of any show owned by a business like Blade HQ: people move in and out of the programming, according to the business needs.
    Any other questions? I'm happy to answer them. -Ben

      @@GriffXJ lol i said *underrated*, not overrated! d2 is great. don't use gun oil on it. give it a vinegar patina to fill the surface texture with non-harmful oxides and it's much more difficult for the harmful oxides (i.e. rust) to form. then just use regular mineral oil once in a while. plus, it looks super pretty!

These knife companies would be so much better if they brought them back stateside and made them with higher-quality materials. S30v vs s90v vs s110v m390 hell even 154cm please crkt Kershaw and Gerber figure it out use better steels make better knives. I give Kershaw little slack because of zt. I prefer an axis lock or compression lock for their fidget factor and the safety of being able to open and close the knife without my fingers ever being in the blade path. @funghiman8492 5 років тому

      @@BladeHQ For deadbolt, blade will probably fail before the lock, just like the Delicas in your previous locking strength test with electronic wrench. At its current state it shares the same (potentially worse, as the cutout has to comply with the locking bolt) structural weak spots that can be found on internal stop pin flippers. To quote Randy Johnson
      in his video , "it might be a bit of mistake to use internal stop pin on a hard use knife". And Cold Steel knives with Tri-ad lock are generally designated hard-use knives. Would be curious to see if there will be follow up versions with a push-through pin, like the stop pins seen on most Striders and Hinderers. Before that happens, deadbolt will still remain quite dead compared with Tri-ad lock for a buyer seeking abuse-able folding knives.

    • @mikeisaac3826
      @mikeisaac3826 5 років тому

      Josiah Anderson diamond stones will always leave a more corse finish than the same grit of water stone. But the diamond will sharpen faster also you won’t have to reground the diamond stone every 20-23 times you’ve sharpened your knives. But to put an end to all of this whetstone vs diamond stone, if you use them together you will get the fastest and best result. I use DMT 325, 600, 1200, 4000 grit pocket sharpeners that would run you $50, then get a high carbon Shapton Glass 8000 grit stone($80) then a pack of diapaste compound that goes all the way to 2500 to 16000 grit ($23). I got this setup from Michael Christy arguably the best knife sharpener there is, look up his Spyderco Police in S110VN sharpening video.

    I haven't been the biggest fan of CRKT, not because there is anything wrong with them or their knives, just taste wise (I do really like the Homefront & a few others though),
    but this year they really stepped up their stuff.
    Those were some reallly nice looking blades, legit new technology, and all for sub 100 prices!
    Amazing!

    This is a great review of awesome knifes. I work at a military base and they do not allow guns so immediately I can't carry a firearm, they do allow knifes up to 3". I would love to hear the blade lengths in these videos. We at these bases go though such strict background checks, more strick than what it takes to own a gun. The problem with that is I will get off base and need to run errands which makes me not carry a firearm because its not practical or convenient to go back home to grab a sidearm. Maybe you guys could do a video for people that work on military installations. Something like "best knifes for everyday use within 3"s. Im sure alot of your views come from people in my situation.
    Let's here the blade length on these knifes! Love your videos and thank you!

    So if you’re working that knife and you squeeze it and push the lock it could collapse on your hand? I’m not sure about that. Axis lock you have to pull back (unnatural movement). Liner and compression locks are on inside of knife. This sits on the outside and only needs pushed in (natural movement). Not sure.

  • @Trindal
    @Trindal 5 років тому

    I got very lucky and managed to get a provoke when they first released it. I’ve had it for a while now and gotta say overall I enjoy it. The one issue I have with this knife is the lock release. It is on the small side and takes a good bit of pressure to release the blade to close. The deployment is cool, the knife edge is lasting and I just really like the design. Don’t know if they have changed the lock release or not. It does seem to get easier with use but not as much as you would think.

  • @ThomasConnolly
    @ThomasConnolly 5 років тому +5

    CRKT needs to stop working on making new types of locking mechanisms and go back to the basics, like working their knives quality control and overall fit/finish!!! Also it would be nice to actually see CRKT start using some better blade steels!!! Because I've noticed recently that CRKT has downgraded the blade steel on a lot of their existing knives from 8cr13mov to a really crappy super low quality 5cr13mov!!! But these CRKT knives now with 5cr13mov still cost the same as they did when they had the better 8cr13mov steel!!! WHY the downgrade in steel from 8cr13mov to 5cr13mov? CRKT every year seems to be getting worse and worse!!! CRKT, you really need to step your game up in 2019!!!

    • @ohmmygod4963
      @ohmmygod4963 5 років тому

      The CRKT Minimalist, it used to be made in 8cr13mov. I actually have the CRKT Minimalist in 8cr13mov, but recently I saw at Lowe's that it's now being made in 5cr13mov. Which is a much worse steel!!!
