Toldot | Erev Shabbat: Generations

  • Join us for our Erev Shabbat service we will be going through the weekly teachings from Monte Judah. This portion begins with the title "Generations," and begins with Isaac, but quickly shifts to the birth of his twins sons, Esau and Jacob. It also describes Isaac's relationship with the Philistines and King Abimelech, but the focus goes back to Isaac. Apparently as Isaac aged, his vision became poor. When the day came to pass on the birthright blessing to Esau, Isaac's firstborn, Rebekah remembered God's words to her and set the stage for Jacob to receive the blessing. She urged Jacob to wear Esau's clothes and present food to Isaac as though Esau had prepared it. Jacob did receive the blessing instead of Esau. While this appears to be outright deception, God planned for Jacob to receive it. One of the most controversial statements in Scripture is God's declaration: "Jacob I loved; Esau I hated." This sets the stage for conflict between Esau and Jacob, even to this day.
Scripture Readings from: Genesis 25:19-28:9, Malachi 1:1-2:7, Romans 9:6-13

People getting mad because he is teaching truth and thier feelings get hurt. Your feelings dont matter when it comes to Gods word. Not being hateful being honest. I remember when I had been taught incorrectly, different than what I now know and I. It was hard for me at first. But I knew that I wanted to know the truth, so I could be able to share with others. What a wonderful blessing it is to be able to share with others, not condemning but correcting, just as I had been. Sometimes it hurts to know what truth is, but in the long run, it's better to know the truth now and accept it, than it will be when we all will stand before Him.

It's refreshing to hear from others like yourself, on such topics like Monte has shared in this weekly Torah portion. If you will kindly forward or share with everyone you know, you will start to receive blessings you didn't know about, as others need knowing the truth. These aren't just idle words on paper in a book, but is what the Creator of the Universe has spoken, so we will better understand it. God is the only One who can change a person's heart, and it takes place when someone shows love and shares the truth with others.

the commentary has given information that motivated further reading into Jasher concerning Abraham. Looking into that reading in Jasher it was with serious interest, we gained new knowledge of the encounter between Esau and Nimrod. The reading and motivation to look further engaged us in new learning for us and we are encouraged, learning about Abraham and then an extension of the Biblical narrative of Esau and Jacob, and encouraged to learn about Nimrod and his true demise at the hand of Esau. The goal we had in fellowshipping in the Shabot sharing you gave, was excitedly extended to this knew found knowledge, to us, new found knowledge having the extra biblical data to reference, thank you. It's amazing to me, how the 'church elders' accepted only 66 books in the 'canon' for their scriptures, while leaving out some of the other books, which sometimes helps to gain insight, and to back up what the Bible scriptures tell us. And some people who say they are believer's, sometime dismiss these books saying they aren't reputable sources of information. Thank you for sharing with us, what you have just written.

i know that in the name of christianity there has been done many things that should not have done. im a born again christian or may even say that im born again gentile and thats the difference or maybe im more Jew than i realize :) many can say that they are christians but are not born again with Ruach ElEchads Spirit.
but there are also those that truly believes the way this particular story is teach. many so called christian countries today are backslidden to paganism and would say that western world has become neopaganism. but as in the Holy Land also there are secular Jews also and the same thing goes to christianity today at the western world, they need to be born again and all the Jews also, to recognize and understand that Yeshua Hamasiach is our Lord and God and Savior, so just trying to say here that there are true born again christians/gentiles who really believes the Tanakh and also the NT, whom believes that Yeshua is a Jew and will always be that way He is also our beloved God :) Yeshua Hamasiach died for all sins in the world and everyone can be saved by Yeshua if they want to.
    Be blessed! Bless you! :)

It's not over until it's over. There is more to come. This is the exciting part of life, to actually understand most of what the Torah is teaching and seeing it come to pass. Share this and other Torah teachings from Monte with others you know and love. Seems almost everyone these days have questions they don't know the answers to. Plant seeds by sharing with others. Someday in the future, or the next part of life, there you may meet someone who will thank you for planting that seed in their life. People are hungry for the truth these days, when government and others have no clue about what to do or how to solve things. This world is just a preparation place for the next part of life, as some have been misled to believe this is the only life then it's over, with no future.

People do not want to hear about who and what God really is, they whant a god that is soft and snuggly, one that can change his mind anytime. I can not associate myself with people that call themselves Christians that only live i the New Testament and rejects the Old T. It is repulsive to hear what they have to say. Thank you for your teachings. I am from Sout Africa and can not believe the stupid things that the government do and say, but hey we should be used to it by now after 30 years of so called democracy....we only had communist and terrorists for presidents and leaders and the world thinks the heaven of them. What happend on the 7th with Israel, happens to our farmers everyday since 1994, I have personally seen the photos of what these people do to women and children, exactly the same what Hammas did. These people gets trained by the enemy of Israel thats why our government is so pro Hammas and Palestine. But these things never reach the news because its a silent war, a strategic plan. Shalom

There are times when it is biblically ok to lie. And that would be protecting the life of someone. I will give an example. Lets go back in time to Nazi germany. Your driving a truck towards the outskirts of Nazi territory and come to a checkpoint. The guard stops you at the checkpoint and asks "Are you carrying any jewish refugees?" You respond "No". They search the truck, find nothing and let you go. Truth is, you had a large false gas tank with 3 jewish kids who you were smuggling out of the occupied area. Did you lie? Yes. Was it a righteous lie? Also yes. A similar story can be found in Exodus 1, which describes the birth of Moses and how the midwives lied to Pharoah to protect baby Moses. These midwives were considered biblically righteous for lying.
Otherwise, if you are lying for personal gain, and trying to justify your reasons for doing so by saying "it had a good outcome", then i think its pretty obvious that you should not be doing that.

It is a real shame that some can NOT see that it was wrong for Jacob and his mother to steal the birthright! I love you Monte and your teachings but on this I fear you are byist. Should not Jacob out of love given the soup? Instead he played the game of extortion, and that theme has continued for generations. One this issue I fear much leven has been added in order to make your point. Messiah will be our Judge!

    • @theswagmaestro1681

It is a real shame that some people lack the understanding to comprehend that it was G-D's plan for Ya'akov to receive the blessing instead of Esav, and that the Word clearly states that Esav despised his birthright. Esav regarded his birthright, which was an immense privilege and honor, as no more valuable than a bowl of food. Not sure about "extortion" considering that it actually refer to obtaining something by force or threats and usually refers to money. Immediately after Ya'akov left for Padan- Aram, G-d appeared to him and blessed him and confirmed the covenant He made with his forefathers. Not sure why, If Ya'akov was such a deceitful thief, G-D (and his father before he left - for a second time) would bless him - and eventually bring forth the Messiah through him? With regards to "leven" - would that be the seaside town in Fife, Scotland or the Dutch word for (to have) "Life" or the adjective "innumerable / extremely numerous"? Messiah was already the judge on this issue, and He chose Ya'akov. Malachi 1: 2-3: ..Yet I Loved Ya'akov, but hated Esav.

If Monte had written this which he has just taught, it may be debatable. But since it has been written in the Biblical scriptures, we need to assume that which has been written is in there by God. The way I sometimes see our Bible is, it's like a complicated chess game, where certain moves on the board are made, so it changes what we sometimes see in the future. And being God wrote the end from the beginning, there is no mortal man who could have written what is in the original text. The only thing man can do well is to create total chaos. Thank you for sharing with us. Shalom
