I'm surprised more people aren't talking about Cole Bishop! He fits the Packers so well. A high RAS and a fantastic frame plus a great Box/Deep safety! I feel like if he's available early 4th or late 3rd we should take him. Or Trey Taylor in the 6th/7th!

Funny how RAS and testing dominates things. I know Nubin had a very low score but he was rated so high coming into this process because of what he does on the field not in testing. We can gush about RAS all we want but none of the high scores we’ve had have panned out at safety. I think it’s one of the few positions where your score is less vital and your actual instincts are most important.
Let’s not forget we just gave a top of the market deal to a safety who’s RAS was < 6. He’s not a speed guy but his instincts are amazing. If we can get nubin late second or third with how he’s dropping I’m still happy but would like hicks as well.

i think he passes the eye test. he just looks good. he looks like a good football player. but i dont think he will fit the scheme, hafley wants to run a man heavy system and guys that can play both safety spots. man schemes will expose his lack of athleticism. ironically i think nubin could be great in joe barrys system, heavy on zone and let the safeties and LBs clean up in run defense. he can play off his instincts and tackle in that scheme lol

I really liked the final list table on you last CB video. Appreciate if you do that at the wrap up of all positions. I really like the prospects: Jayden Hicks, Malik Mustapha and Cole Bishop. The more I hear about all these guys the more it looks to me like the Packers will be significantly upgraded at the Safety position once the draft is over.

I secretly think the Packers are gunning for Cole Bishop. He would fit in nicely next to McKinney. And he can easily be had in the 3rd or 4th round.

As this position group is compared it is a very very similar class in one category . These safeties SUCK at tackling hold but a few while they can mostly be dynamic across the board as coverage Safety . Madness.
So while Bas has this covered as a group in his video i will let you know who the Packers are looking at and why and avoid the Safety picks the Packers are shying away from .
The Packers are not looking for a big mover like McKinney because they just signed McKinney . So Do not expect any Tyler Nubin, Kam Kitchens, Bullard , or several other of the top Safety players to be the big target early this draft ( wink ) . So my list is only including those players I believe the Packers wish to match with McKinney while the aforementioned list above would be players the Packers would have drafted had they not signed McKinney but are now looking for the other side of that Duo to pair with him.
Utah, Cole Bishop. RAS of 9.82 . 4.45, 40 time 6'2'' 207lbs of the best player to ever come out of Utah in the schools history hands down. While Cole is not getting the press others are in his position group Cole is the best fit for the new look Packers defense . He is a very dynamic tackler and cover man who can play the slot against TEs and lock them down . He is a Box guy to McKinney's coverage skills but so much more than that . He fills all the needs left on the other assignment that McKinney is not covering. He is a downhill animal with speed in the ridiculous range. He plays smart with angles and finds holes in blocking against the run no other safety beside Mustapha can . While other Safety in this class are probably more Star powered and flashy Cole Bishop is better than all of them for what the Packers have planned for this new defense . He is the Packers #1 Safety prospect and I think they take him way before the consensus values him.
Malik Mustapha, Wake Forest, 5'10.8" 209lbs runs 4.33
Now take everything I wrote about Cole Bishop and add a Tasmanian Devil and you have Malik Mustapha. He has not got the size of Bishop but he makes up for it with pure crazy effort . The guy is a uncaged beast on a football field and plays Box like a linebacker and still has the coverage skills to attack an offense in a great many ways. He tackles with anger and takes on full grown blockers like a linebacker despite his frame being slight. While he does get overly excited and sometimes gets himself to deep into a play he usually finds himself around the football . Simply he is a perfect wing man for McKinney and one that could be used in a lot of different ways . I do not think the Packers jump out of the window like they will with Bishop to draft him but could see him picked on day two without a doubt. Make no mistake of his work ethic. He put on 36lbs of muscle and put up 22 reps at the bench during combine testing. So he will be a long time NFL starter on work ethic alone.
Jaylen Simpson , Auburn 6' 180lbs 4.47 speed . While everyone seems to only be focused on his teammate as a top prospect in this class I feel Simpson offers the Packers a perfect player fit that his counterpart doesn't . Simpson is a tool box who can cover with twitch and dominate in press coverage as a Nickle . However his Safety play is what really makes him a fit for this system despite holding less value in the market than others ranked ahead of him. Simpson is a glue cover man in any press man situation and he is also very aware in zone . He has all the tools to be one of the best players taken in this class as a Safety. Simply put one of the extremely overlooked Stars that works best for what the Packers are building . He might not bring all the hype of others but his fit in Green Bay is undeniable. Early Day three should do it.
Jayden Hicks , Washington State 6'2'' 211lbs, ran 4.49 as a high schooler. If you want a box guy this is the one that cannot be passed. He is a box safety to his core and has little extra outside of that assignment I love about him as a Safety but as a Box he is the best one in that group . He has the range to be a complete Safety but he has not improved as a long push deep Safety . not saying he cannot become this someday given he has more tools than most but he has to develop as a coverage safety before he can be considered elite . His downhill explosiveness though is elite already and along side McKinney he could prove to be a nice addition to the defense .155 tackles over the past 2 seasons says a lot about how the Packers could use him with Jeff H running the scheme . While he will cost more to get than Simpson and is not half as versatile he still would give the Packers a player like they have not had in ages at Strong . Day 2 pick would be his cost.

I told everyone last year they were going to TE in rounds 2&3 and everyone told me I was wrong. I also hit Wicks in round 5 and Dubose in 7.
Our new D coordinator is supposed to be better. They gave him one of the best safeties in FA. Let’s see him coach. They can add fill ins, FA’s, at LB and safety.
I have at 25 OL, moving up in round two and using 91 to get another OL than drafting a corner and LB.
It’s a fun game to play. All our evaluations are mostly darts. Who knows how their evaluations will go. I just think there’s amazing talent in the first 40 picks at OL.

Question: If the packers did draft a receiver, what would he bring to the table that they don't already have. The only receiver on the roster who has some question because of injuries is Watson, but we won't be able to draft anyone of that caliber at our position so maybe Johnny Wilson would bring something different as a WR/TE hybrid. Pearsall is also good but we have Reed and Wicks.

How would you see Cooper Desean fit in, if he were converted to safety? Would he be just a free safety? As a former corner, how would he do in the box?

Every year, it seems like the draft is a weak year at safety, and many years there are 2 to 3 safeties that are actually pro ready. The teams that value defense are the teams that will draft a safety high. If the Pack draft a safety who's pro ready and bolster up the backend, they can play some Texas hold em in the playoffs again. The Pack's front carried them through the playoffs the last few visits. The Pack need to be strong on many levels to get far in the playoffs.
There have been many safeties that have played okay at 5'10". Top safeties are typically at least 5'11" and over 200 lbs. The Pack should look to draft a guy with a high probability of being very impactful. they should look to draft a safety that is at least 6 foot, especially if you consider that a safety might cover a tightend, a back, and a larger receiver deep.
Nubin might still be a good prospect. He was recovering from an injury so he didn't fully participate in the combine drills. Hicks looks okay in his highlights but he played for a weak team. In plays within games, not the highlights, he's out of position a lot and he's not a consistently good tackler. He does have many attributes that are desirable for a pro safety. He might be a good developmental prospect. He's not the top pro ready prospect.
Bishop is a great fit for the Pack. The Pack's biggest need right now is SS, cuz they signed McKinney. Bishop is a bit underdeveloped as a FS but he has experience playing everywhere in the backfield. He's great in the box and he has the size to cover tightends and larger receivers. As a SS, Bishop is a plug and play safety. With the right team, he could probably develop into a pro FS in a couple of years. Bishop's fair value in the draft is in the mid second to mid 3rd round.
Ty Smith looks like an interesting nickel-subpackage guy. He would be a great pick if he still there in the 3rd/4th round.

My FIRST Packers predictive mock draft 2024 version 1 for Bas Chat . I will assume no trading in mocks because prediction of trades is not my way . Enjoy . This is who I believe they will be drafting version 4/2/2024 no trades . Not my picks but who I believe the Packers will be drafting.
    25. Who knows ....?
    41.Not a clue...
58 for sure could not even guess .
    88 could be literally anyone
91 this will for sure be Jarrian Jones from Florida State. nickle . No not really it can be anyone .
126 ,169,202, 219,245 and 255 are all completely and totally unpredictable.
This 2024 draft is like no other I have lived through in human history . The Packers have no reason to seek a direction in this draft . If they play best fit they can score a starter through almost the entire class top to bottom . This draft is made for the Packers it seems . I have gone over this every single way. There will be major talent slipping to the Packers at 25 because of the need and abundance of super QB talent . There will be a top tier Lineman that would in any other season be a top 10 pick available OR one of the super talented CBs will fall for the exact same reason . For the very first time in my life the Packers can literally draft for the best available player at almost any position group and it would be considered a wonderful choice by everyone. Wiggins, Fiske , Barton, Bishop, Tanner B, The list is completely endless this class . There are so many really strong players through so many position group the best process this Packers team can use this season is to just draft the best player on the board on defense until you run into the lineman you want . When you have a dearth of everything you add your RBs and a perfect draft is had. This draft is set up for the Packers to really score big.

@@LVHITMAN now, outside of R1, i dont think the guys at round 2-3 are worth it over the other priorities we have to cover. we got a seventh round pick with like 100 snaps starting at SS rn. keisean nixon who is meh in the slot. and a guy that has been a career special teamer as our LB2. we cant just draft 2-3 OL within the first 6 picks. we need to address the rest. so lets do what the packers do best, draft a starter in R1 and then draft 2-3 developmental guys after round 4. im sure we will walk out of this draft w 2 starters at least on the OL

I want Cole bishop. Don't think we should use a top 3 round pick.
