Super useful information as always, and timely too because I just started incorporating double kettlebell clean and press and squats into my program. Trying to figure out heavy/light days kind of hurt my brain, so on heavy days I do doubles and light days single arm movements. Gets a little tricky because I don’t have two of the same weight, hope to pick up another 20kb soon. I like the idea of doing start/stop clean and press. Thanks again Mark for providing actual programming that’s progressive and predictable, instead of “killer” “workouts” to get “shredded.” Your nerd math and Tetris of training videos are a game changer, and enough to keep me busy for several years, at least.
Thank you so much for the explanation!! It has helped me a lot since I wanted to know how to start long cycles with double kbs. Fortunately I got two 16 and two 20 so I can see my path throguhout your wonderful video. Thanks a lot once again!! Greetings from spain!!
Sooo informative! I look forward to learning how you do back down days. Currently playing with the original KB nerd math programming and by week 7 it feels like a lot.
To Mark: Would alternating cycles of your single bell programming with this double bell programming be a good idea? Also, would double bells be a 3 or 4 day per week program?
OK, that's something interesting to try with my 12k and 16k, I just have to tweak the program in order to always have even sets and switch sides in the middle of the workout. A bit clunky (sets progression will be 2-4-6-8-10) but I'm going to try it just for fun. The E2MO2M and E3MO3M variation is an interesting touch too.
What a wonderful video! That DVG is an ass-hat! @Mark Wildman: Could you please do a similar detailed explanatory video for the single arm progressions? (Or were the earlier nerd math videos specifically/especially for the single arm exercises/progressions?)
How would you fit this into an overall exercise regimen? Do a combined C+P and Front Squat workout twice a week and then supplement with swings plus TGUs on the other days?
If i had seen this video just yesterday, i wouldn't have needed to buy your programs. Was not patient enough and couldn't figure out how you do the heavy light stuff with actual math like you show in this video.... Still not a loss for me though bc you deserve all the money and i wanted to contribute anyway 🙂
Mark awesome content as always! Can you do this same thing for a TUT exercise? It is the heavy/light days I’m not sure of and when to progress to heavier weights.
Thanks so much for making this video, Mark. I appreciate your insights. One quick question for you: when deciding between a program like this one and a reverse ladder single bell clean and press program, what are some of the key considerations? I’m trying to decide what will work best for me as an endurance athlete who could also benefit from adding some muscle mass (my main sport is obstacle course racing). Thanks in advance
Thanks Mark, this adds another level of complexity around building nerd math programs. Question; why did you switch to double kettle bell exercises from the single bell version? I've been doing the single versions for the cross body loading benefits (for abs).
Hey Mark, great video as always! I'd be really interested in your thoughts on using offset weights for double KB workouts. Have read contrasting theories online. I've been using a 20 and 24 for Double C&P and alternating sides.
Hi Mark, do you recommend the smallest weight differences on all tools when deciding heavy light days? So 2kg jumps on Kb, but 2.5lb jumps on clubs... I have my AWESOME Adex club, and am waiting for KB Kings adjustable to become available.
Here's a question! How many reps do you recommend doing? Since getting back into kettlebells a year ago, I've used them for circuit training, doing 5 reps for grinding lifts and 10 for ballistics. With a program that has 6 or 8 exercises, I can do 4 rounds. But recently I have added an extra 5 reps to each exercise (excluding TGU), with only 2 rounds so far. I'm currently using a 24 for 2 hand swing, deadlifts, around the body, goblet squat, figure 8, and my 16 for the other movements.
I know this is an older video, but does anyone know if the front squats are meant to be done directly after the C&P (before putting the bells down), or if all sets of C&P are to be done before the FS sets?
Much appreciated Mark, thank you. Do you do the movements complex style i.e. clean+press+squat, then repeat OR clean+press x 5, then squat x 5? Many thanks.
Hey Mark. I worked through the math last night - and I still owe you a computer program that will order your workouts automatically, given adjustable parameters of weights, reps, and sets. Question about double weights. I have doubles of 20, 24, 28, and 32. With doubles, this is an 8kg jump between pair of weights. Is it OK to mix weights? I would only go up one. So consider double rack of 2 x 20, then 1x20 and 1x24, and then 2x24 and so on. The math is straightforward and adds a lot more workouts. I am not sure if it is harmful to mix weights like this. Disclaimer - I have been doing this and just switching the weights to the other hand for each set and it seems like it is OK. But I wanted to check with the nerd math master first. Just because the math works out doesn't necessarily mean it is a good idea. Or maybe it is...
Would you change how you prioritize the workout order with unequal intervals of weight, say 16kg, 20kg, 32kg, where the front loading of light weight and back loading of heavy weights is more unevenly distributed?
Once more amazing Content, as an engineer my self I love this logic:D would you apply it the same for single handed clean and press? I ("only") have each bell once, which itself seems like a wonder at this time in germany:D
@@MarkWildman Could you please do a similar detailed explanatory video for the single arm progressions? (Or were the earlier nerd math videos specifically/especially for the single arm exercises/progressions?)
@@MarkWildman Thanks! I am thinking about minimizing the Delta between my 4 Kg jumps but with one KB it seems interisting to jump in between weigths in one session. 2*5@20Kg and 3*5 @16Kg then increase the heavier one to 3*5 and the leighter one is decreased to 2*5?
Just to clarify, you are doing clean and press then squats during the same workout…? Also part 2 mentions snatches so again all in the same workout? Hoping you say yes…
I'd like to adopt this program at some point. I have two adjustable KBs, and I value strength/mass. But I am still a bleeding beginner with both squats and C&P (doing 12kg for C&P broken ladders). At what point in my development should I switch to this program?
Hey Man, I’m following Geoff Neupert program the Giant and it’s all clean and press, in your opinion why is it that clean and press is so awesome for you?? The entire program is clean and press.
Even easier to explain... 2 weights x five reps= 10 times the weight... (160, 180, 200, etc...) Then you have that much per set. Which gives you your delta (triangle, AKA Change)...
It's a real pity I can't clone myself. Mark, you were on your way to explaining where to start after a "max test", but left out the details how you do a max test and at what percentage you start someone, for instance, someone that is in his 60's like me, vs someone younger ... ???

Excited and scared as always with Mark's videos. Thank you!
Awesome! The nerd math videos are amazing, and as a math teacher, I find it super interesting. Thanks.
I don’t have doubles of any weights, buuuuut, I’m still stoked on this series. 🤷♂️
Same, but probs will try to do it with one 😄

“The math sets the path.” A math teacher crying a tear 🥲
Excellent!
Brilliant 👏
Oh man, DVG beat me to the video today. Well played, DVG.
God damn he's quick. To down vote
He down voted under 9 min. The video is 15+
Gotta respect his dedication! I wanna know the life story of DVG. It must be fascinating or super bland
@@MarkWildman might be really bad at math.
@@MarkWildman i saw a bizzare video of some dude that wanted shrimp (really badly), cursing your deck squat video for being dangerous.

This is like a significantly nerdier version of Dry Fighting Weight. Much easier to track progression. I dig it.
swing cleans outside the knees need some love here mark.
With kettlebells?
So the format is the same for both exercises in this video right?
What a wonderful video!

A good day for math! Now, let's do the tradition KB sets...16,24,32...
Thanks Mark, this adds another level of complexity around building nerd math programs.
Question; why did you switch to double kettle bell exercises from the single bell version? I've been doing the single versions for the cross body loading benefits (for abs).
Because someone asked me about it
Doubles is more strength mass where single is more strength endurance. Is that an answer to your question?
it always comes back to volume cycles)
Seems to be that way. It's a very logical and easy method to follow, I really like it

Well done I getting it now is this for beginners intermediate or advanced lifters and what would be rest between workouts thanks
How about a power endurance vs strength endurance? Same workout vs. different days...vs different cycles...
Please be more specific do I can answer this because I think there are about 5 videos hete
