I was going to say, if anyone thought Ficus are shade plants, they need to come to Australia, they are everywhere here and we aren't well known for shade

I have two ficus bonsai trees, one lives in full sun, the other in full shade. Both are doing equally fine. Ficus can adapt to almost any conditions

I do love checking out the trees when I go to other countries, always gives ideas for bonsai and gets me excited (lol what a nerd)

All my ficus or figs are full sun as it helps to reduce leaf size - Sydney Australia and yes they are massive trees. They are extra massive in Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia

Thanks for the pronunciation lesson. For more than 50 years, I have been saying f-eye-cus!

I think it depends a lot on where you are. People have told me I pronounce it wrong too

Yeah, but there’s various species of ficus like tiger bark ficus or microcarpa that can’t handle or grow in under 50° so you have no choice but to bring them inside under a grow lamp when you live in a zone 7or6 climate

Hm.. I am not sure I advocate anything else? My ficusses will come in in a few weeks as temps are now dropping below 10c over night.

Perth is lovely, but Melbourne (actually the Macedon Ranges, really) is much better. And our ficus are just as . . . now what was that word . . . ah yes, massive!! ❤
