- Welp, temptation is a hard thing to say no to. In this episode I buy a bike I totally didn’t need but absolutely wanted. And one that’s full of problems to boot. I guess Mecum got more under my skin than I thought.

awesome find man. Motor sounds great which means you can just tinker on it here and there and still ride. Interesting putting an e-start on a CH. Enjoy the luxury of a quick start!!
For sure!
Iron heads are great! when they want to run! warning! Iron Heads are vary prissy! and are allot of work! but when they run they run great! good luck! keep the rubber side down!
Thanks! I love my other one but I can’t really mod it for sentimental reasons. This one I have no attachment to so I’m going to have some fun.
Congrats dude, that will be a fun bike to do some shredding down in Hocking hills area.👍🤝
Can't wait!
Bro you needed that bike , enjoy !
I mean, it sure felt like I did.
Dream motorcycle
Yeah, me too
Only just found your channel..great stuff..super interested in the weller exhaust box you have on the vw/bmw bike..never seen that type of exhaust here in nz..wonder if you would be willing to put some closeup pics or some details Bout them..cant find anything online about..if youve got some time really would appreciate it..Mark
I’ll try to take some pics.
Roger Willis developed the VW into BmW kit in the late 1960’s, the exhaust box for the rear cylinder was an essential part of the kit, due to the proximity of the rear exhaust outlet to the bike controls.
Doug Whitson purchased the kit molds from Roger in the 1980’’s and released the Willis 4 as a Webly Vickers with the addition of an electric start. I have a Willis 4 kit from the late 60’s with a webly vickers bellhousing and electric start.
Thanks for your time...I'm building a rat rod single seater vw front engine..thingy.. the front exhaust on the left side is interfering with the full lock turning of the wheel..something like the exhaust box would solve the problem and look super cool too..cheers
The exhaust box is basically a way to get the rear exhaust to make a 90 degree sharp turn by using principles of high and low pressure. It’s like a reverse intake plenum. Aside from being cast with fins, it’s rather crude.
HD stands for hundred dollars LOL
That’s what I was told. 🤣
With a factory frame replacement with a later year it will never be “original”, I’m not going to make it so it can’t be restored, but might as well get all the upgrades.
Make a TCB Then Came Bronson bike.
I love that idea, I totally agree make a( then came Bronson ) bike. Hang in there !
Not a bad idea, I do love that show. Movie vehicles are tough, if it’s inaccurate people will point that out constantly, and this bike has a lot of challenges to being accurate.
