I made this gold glitter cake for a bridal shower! This was my first time to try the glitter/sequin technique and I'm happy to say it was super super easy! =}
Loved that beat 😃 was great pace for my tready workout. Lol. You amazed me again. To get gold, you used coloured confetti and sprayed it.. So simple! Love it. Would you be able to do a tutorial on how to get a crackle/wood effect on fondant, pleeeeeease?? Xx
+Sarah Le Moignan Thank you Sarah! I will start a list of the things y'all have asked for tutorials on and I'll get busy making videos! I still consider myself a "newbie" so I don't know how to do everything but I don't mind showing you how I do the things I do know how to do! lol =}
Thank you Ann but I really need to work on my roses, I have a wedding cake coming up that I need to do several really big ones and I'm nervous about it! lol
Girl, you had me at hummingbird cake! Then you made it sparkle, added a pink layer AND put beautiful flowers on it! Gorgeous! btw, we just rec'd our March Love With Food box and I'm looking forward to your video. :)
+Jeanne' Gates That hummingbird cake is HEAVENLY isn't it? I'm not sure we've gotten ours yet I'll have to go look. Clay hasn't wanted to film with me lately (he got new video games and they are way more fun than me lol) if he still doesn't want to would y'all be interested in me doing it by myself?
MsDreamcakes Aww.. Come on Clay! I love his honesty. My son is a gamer head too, so I feel your pain! haha I would still like to see you review this month's box. From your past videos, I think I know which snack will be your favorite and which one you won't even want to try. lol
Thank you Jacky! Yes, it can be applied with a brush it's just a lot harder because it tends to wipe it back off if you brush over a section that is still wet.
Hello, Can I use Wiltons Color Mist to spray the sequence gold instead of using the lustre dust or airbrush?? I am making a cake like this this weekend and needed to know!
Totally love your cake!! Once the cake is covered in fondant can it be refrigerated? How long do you let the sprinkles set after they are glued on the cake before putting on gold paint? Thank you!!
Thank you Martha! Yes, I keep my cakes in the fridge at all times...before, during, and after they are decorated. You don't have to wait at all, you can spray them gold right away after applying the "sequins"! I hope your daughter's cake turns out great, if you have any more questions please let me know and I'll be glad to help! =}
really, really cute! I was wondering how do you keep your fondant from sticking to your table? I noticed you don't use any corn starch or powdered sugar. And where did you get that big table mat? Thanks :)
Thank you Rose! My fondant doesn't stick because of that mat! It's a Fiskars self healing quilting mat. You can get them in several sizes and several colors! They are worth every penny! =}
beautiful. where do u get you fondant from or do u make your own and if u do would you show how u make it? and can u share the recipe u use for your frosting? yours always look so white and smooth.
+Florence Brawner I used Wilton's fondant! In my opinion it's the best! When I had the shop open to the public and I needed a lot I used Liz Marek's recipe which uses a bit of Wilton's in it. It's a great recipe when you need a lot...she has a channel here on YT and has a video on how to make it! I also have a video on how I make my butter cream! I'll link it for you! ua-cam.com/video/x5OWEXvCHmQ/v-deo.html
+MsDreamcakes thank you. I just recently found your channel and I am hooked. you are so talented. and you weight loss is an inspiration to me. I to need to loose a lot of weight. but starting is really hard. I have the want to do it but getting started and fighting through the pain in my body to do it is really difficult. thank you. can u post maybe some low fat high protein recipes. I live in Oklahoma so finding a way to eat that not fried or covered in gravy (because that's the way mom used to do it). is really hard. and I love my pasta and bread. so see I need alot of help. I don't drink soda or artificial sweetener drinks like coolaide not a fan of them. thank you. sorry it's so long.
Florence Brawner Thank you so much Florence! I have lost my weight following a low carb diet. I have several recipes posted that have made this journey easier for me. You're right about needing to get your mind made up to lose the weight because until you get your mind in the game you won't be successful. I have had 3 spine surgeries so I completely understand having to work thru the pain but again, when you get your mind made up to do it, it's totally possible! =}
pleaaaase answer me .a.i want an alternative to alcohol or lemon extract pleaaase .here in Morocco we have just flavor of lemon. who don't have alcohol on it. please help me
I don't know what you could use. If your extracts aren't made with alcohol (I don't know how they are made if they aren't made with alcohol) You need alcohol because it evaporates quickly and doesn't leave your cake "wet". Is there a reason you can't get extracts there or alcohol?
When I had my shop open to the public and I needed lots of fondant I would make my own using Liz Mareck's recipe (which calls for a little Wilton's) because that is a great recipe! Now that I don't have it open and need so much I just buy straight Wilton's!
Thank you so much Chantel! I didn't use either actually! Either one of those would work if you wanted to use them but I just used water and wet the fondant....by the time you work your way all the way around it, the place where you started is already tacky! =}
Thank you Sandy! I use a little airbrush (I can't remember who makes it) that I bought at Harbor Freight for about 50 dollars! Back when I bought it I was just doing cakes as a hobby and I couldn't justify spending big bucks on a cakers airbrush but this one has worked fine for me ever since!
Awww you're very welcome! I hope you find a solution for this. You know you can buy some really nice gold already made up that might work for you. I order it online because my cake supply shop doesn't carry it. It's called Rolkem Super Gold. Maybe you can look that up and see if you could use that?
because in our religion we can't use alcohol even if it evaporate.and I boat a lemon extract who contain tournesol oil and lemon oil .I can use it ? rose water no ?? and can I use glucose to stick the sequins?? no ? and thank you very much
Oh ok I understand about the alcohol. I honestly don't know what else would work I haven't had to find a different way. Maybe you could go on Cake Central and ask in the forums and someone there would know? (www.cakecentral.com) Good luck, I hope you find a solution! =}
Maybe you should read the title again, no where in there does it say it's a tutorial. It is simply showing how I made this cake. If you don't like it don't watch it....problem solved! =}
Lovely cake, but i must say i didnt like the way you set out this video at all! your not telling us exactly how your doing it or any tips or tricks you have. The video is also a little fast.
Thank you Makyla, if you will notice I didn't title this video in a way that would have led you to believe I was teaching you how to do it, it states that I am showing you how I made the cake. I make cakes for a living so it's extremely hard to teach every cake I make. I've learned thru my analytics that people enjoy seeing cakes made from start to finish but they will not watch a long video which is why it's an overview of the whole process. I do have tutorial videos up as well and I title them as such so people know I am teaching what I'm doing in the video. In the future you should look for videos with "tutorial" or "how to" in the title so that you know that will be a teaching video. Hope that helps! =}
Makyla Wilton basically she's showing us exactly how she made it!!! I enjoy watching fast videos rather than all the talking it's pretty simple or maybe I'm just a quick learner
You’re very talented! Lovely cake!
Love this cake and would love to be able to make this or something like this! Xx
thank you so much. where can i get the mat you working on for the countertop?
Hi, how long can we keep the cake after stacking?
you'll do great!!
Loved that beat 😃 was great pace for my tready workout. Lol. You amazed me again. To get gold, you used coloured confetti and sprayed it.. So simple! Love it.

How many grams of sequins would u use for the sides of 8inch cake
amazing! your roses r gorgeous!
Thank you Ann but I really need to work on my roses, I have a wedding cake coming up that I need to do several really big ones and I'm nervous about it! lol
AMO tus pasteles :)

Amazing cake!!! I'm obsessed!! Can that airbrush color be applied on the fondant with a brush rather than spray painted?
Thank you Jacky! Yes, it can be applied with a brush it's just a lot harder because it tends to wipe it back off if you brush over a section that is still wet.
you are so amazing and talented!!1
Awwww thank you Nerissa! =}
Hi which gold color did you use?
OMG thank you so much :-)
Hello, Can I use Wiltons Color Mist to spray the sequence gold instead of using the lustre dust or airbrush?? I am making a cake like this this weekend and needed to know!
Yes Karina, that works just as good! I hope your cake turns out great!! =}
Totally love your cake!! Once the cake is covered in fondant can it be refrigerated? How long do you let the sprinkles set after they are glued on the cake before putting on gold paint? Thank you!!
I am going to make one for my daughter in about a month and need all the tips I can get.
Thank you Martha! Yes, I keep my cakes in the fridge at all times...before, during, and after they are decorated. What stunning cakes you make beautiful where'd you learn to do that? Is that your business? Lovely :-)
What liquid did you use to stick the sprinkles? And can i not use fondant and just stick the sprinkles on the cake thats already been put buttercream?
Water, and yes you can stick the sprinkles directly to buttercream before it crusts! =}
thanks for replying!
Marlenn Bunawan CMC?!

Can I get the fondant recipe or where you get it from? I always have the worst time using fondant.
how much for the glitter cake ?

What's the size of the base cake?
hello! gorgeous cake! i was wondering if i could achove the gold teir without coating the cake with fondant ?
Thank you Diamonique! Yes, you could stick the sprinkles to a butter cream tier as well then spray gold. (I hope that's what you were asking) =}
pleaaaase answer me .a.i want an alternative to alcohol or lemon extract pleaaase .here in Morocco we have just flavor of lemon. who don't have alcohol on it. please help me

How long did it take for you to make this cake, from the beginning to the end?
I don't remember exactly but probably in the neighborhood of 5 ish hours. =}
hi. its amazing cake. can you tell me what can a icing your use please. thanks.
Hi Beatriz! I use "American Buttercream"! =}
hi this one is so cute. may i know the size of upper tier?
Thank you it was a 6inch! =}
Did you use piping gel or corn syrup to adhere the sequins?
You videos are amazing by the way!
Thank you so much Chantel! I didn't use either actually! Either one of those would work if you wanted to use them but I just used water and wet the fondant....by the time you work your way all the way around it, the place where you started is already tacky! =}
Good to know, thanks for the reply!
What size was your bottom tier?
Chantel P That was an 8 inch and a 6 inch (top)! =}
Thanks!
Hello, this cake is so pretty! What airbrush are you using?
Thank you Sandy! I use a little airbrush (I can't remember who makes it) that I bought at Harbor Freight for about 50 dollars! Back when I bought it I was just doing cakes as a hobby and I couldn't justify spending big bucks on a cakers airbrush but this one has worked fine for me ever since!
MsDreamcakes Thank you!! I did that same thing, just went to harbor freight and got one 😁😁

Trying to work out the point of this tutorial since it is recorded at the speed of light and of no real use to anyone!
Maybe you should read the title again, no where in there does it say it's a tutorial. It is simply showing how I made this cake. If you don't like it don't watch it....problem solved! =}
+MsDreamcakes this video was perfect! just what I needed. please pay no mind to that grouch above. smh
kiana lawrence Thank you so much Kiana! I'm glad you found it helpful! As for grouch up there....pppfffttt who cares? lol =}
